Re: NBA Live 16 Gameplay Video - 10 Minutes of Rising Star Mode
Do we need PS plus to play the demo?Comment

So the movement did look better. I did notice that the would tend to slide a bit when attacking the basket. I also noticed some passes into the post were a bit sketchy. the same passes in 2k would not happen. the cpu seemed to let you pass to where ever you wanted to. wanted to see a bit more of the post game. from what i saw the guys did not look to have weight to them. with those little nit picky gripes out of the way, the game looked good. i look forward to the demo this week.Comment

Re: NBA Live 16 Gameplay Video - 10 Minutes of Rising Star Mode
I do wanna say that it is so remarkably refreshing to see all that movement going on away from the ball. Last year it was like when all the old out of shape guys get together at the local gym and are just standing around out of breath waiting for a shot to go up to grab a rebound.Comment

Re: Rising star gameplay
Random notes as I watch the video: hook shot at 1:10 or so is really awkward. Needs more shot variety.
1:18: Okafor plays the PnR too aggressively, doesn't have the footspeed to contain the drive, leading to the open layup. This is the second time we've seen the AI crash the pick hard. Might be a setting, might be an issue. Thought the layup animation here looked nice, but that's just me.
1:40: Lots of awkwardness as the user did not run all the way through to set the pick. Liked the bounce pass there. Hard to see the contact on the foul, would like more reactions to fouls from players.
2:30: Not sure what #20 is doing here. The drive was contained and he should have stayed with his man in the corner.
2Nice live ball moment as the ball is knocked away from Okafor after the offensive rebound.
3:02: AI needs to find the player running in transition. 2 players run to opposite corner, not spacing correctly. Nice drive by CPU but not a great layup animation.
3:19: nice play design, having the screen first in the corner and then the post up on the strong side. I think 97 and 10 might have been reading a switch by the play side defender, but he gets sealed off.
3:28: nice transition defense. Nice switching and finding of their checks by the CPU. Good contest down low, really awkward layup attempt afterwards. Not a great looking sequence. Needs falling players, more contact, more physicality.
3:57: beautiful double screen on the cut through. shot had a 54% chance to go in. Splash
4:07: good job of CPU recognizing that the user didn't get back. Immediately cut to the rim for the alley oop, but not a great pass. Looked like a good no call, and nice follow by 97. AI should have passed it out after the lob was cut off.
No issues with the sequence at 4:42 outside from user-induced weirdness. Shot was only 30%.
Nice transition passing at 4:48, but the last in the chain has to keep moving to try to get all the way to the rim.
5:05 sorta looks like it's supposed to be an elevator doors play at the elbow, but Okafor isn't set and probably should have gotten called for a moving screen. CPU closed out well. 44% chance to make the shot.
There's a distinct difference between how the player's AI PG brings the ball up and the way the West's team PG brings the ball up and initiates the offense. I imagine this is because of the game wanting to have the user get involved.
5:20: nice horns set and find by the CPU, really awkward layup attempt.
6:00 lots of nice CPU movement, user blocks off Okafor from his man, leading to easy layup attempt. This shouldn't have been off the glass though. Maybe that's the issue with a lot of these?
6:20: really weak defense by the guy guarding the CPU. Didn't play the shooter at all. Wonder what difficulty this is.
7:18: nice spacing by the West team. 20 crashes hard off the wing to the paint, needed to keep his positioning. Nice find by KAT though.
8:45: the CPU actively ignores Okafor posting up (hooray for not force-feeding the post!), nice step through and dunk after the find.
8:50: no idea why #70 was so open. I think he's Okafor's man, but hard to tell with the camera cut. The CPU seems to be having problems matching up.
Overall, what I played in July was better in some ways, worse in others. I'm not sure why the AI is having problems matching up, but I hope it's something that gets cleaned up, and soon. I do think this was on lower difficulty, as most of these videos usually are, which might explain some of the lackadaisical defense and easy shooting. I love that the AI is actually running plays with purpose and I think EA's play designs are quite nice. The inside layup thing is a problem, and will continue to be until they tweak those animations and shot types, but the offensive AI, motion, and plays are all leaps and bounds ahead of 15.Comment

the last live game I played was in..07 I think? (tmac on cover) after that I switched to the other game. I follow both though as I just love games.this looks pretty good. looks pretty smooth too..my only complaint that I see is that some of the animations don't look correct for the situation. for example on a layup the guy was just a little to the left of him. he was barely touched but the animation was over exaggerated for the the small bump. and it almost looked like he reacted as if the bump came from a different direction.other than that it's really looking good. i know Live has been a little down as of the last few years, a few missteps, but this is a huge leap to get them back to where they need to be. I think in another year or two they will be back to their prime.Comment

Re: NBA Live 16 Gameplay Video - 10 Minutes of Rising Star Mode
Why did Pro-Am look 10x better? Very disappointing. I will play the demo but I don't see myself purchasing the game for $80. I'll just renew my EA Access subscription once this is added to the vault in Feb/March or whenever.Comment

I think this looks pretty damn good especially from where EA came from with the ridiculously pathetic first now-current-gen attempt. The animations for the most part look good. At times it looked realistic but of course it still had some video game looking moments because, wait for it....it's a video game. Lol.
I just got concerned with the skill level of the cpu. The dribbler would have the ball right out in front of his defender with an unprotected dribble and the defender would just stand there. Shoulda been cookies all day with that but othwrwise, I don't have a complaint other that those rims and the way ths balls go through them and the nets still bother me.
Looking forward to the demo on Tues.Just cuz you pour syrup on ish....Comment

It didn't help that the frame rate was horrible, but this just doesn't look that good. I'll give the demo a shot, but this hasn't swayed me to buy.Comment

Re: NBA Live 16 Gameplay Video - 10 Minutes of Rising Star Mode
When you have played 14 and 15 you tend to look for the stuff you hoped would be improved ... with that being said.
- graphically looks good
- loving the off-ball movement
- passing still seems floaty (love the types of passing I'm seeing tho)
- loving the dribble animations
- love the overlays
- glad to see different ball rim iterations
- 2:56 canned animation caused the user to travel (gotta clean that up)
- 3:05 speedy layup animation in traffic (saw this in 15)
- under the post animations hate em
- Rebounding animations look much better
- love how the AI is running various plays, last year we saw PnR and post thats it lol
- facial animations look good
- 7:32 another speedy layup with no contact
Overall looks solid ... would love to see some more transitional animations and more contact on shot attempts in the paint. For 17 we gotta clean up these animations EA. Still buying this, 2K and 2K on PC.Comment

Good off ball movement, nice dribbling BUT, still see wonky animations from 15 especially around the basket. He got open really easily and got a perfect release each time, jerseys are too tight, and a lot of rookies aren't scanned.. Of course gonna play demo but not that impressed

Re: NBA Live 16 Gameplay Video - 10 Minutes of Rising Star Mode
agreed...man i'm disappointed. I really was looking forward to this game taking a big leap from 15. I hope the demo change my initial impression but this looks like a PS3 version with slightly improved graphics...I assume that rooks faces will be added later, but that is a bit disappointing at launch....im sorry but the third iteration shouldn't need a ton of major polishing....maybe the actual team games enhances the experience....but im starting to see why we didn't get a blitz of gameplay, and their seemingly online marketing pushComment
