They don't really have to spend a crazy amount of time on these classic players. A few touchups here and there would be great.

I'm putting my trust that they would do this. The feel for the game would be greater knowing that you're truly playing w/ '07 Bron, '06 Wade, '05 Amar'e, or '00 Carter. Lastly, I don't want to be "that guy" but getting I'm hoping 2K would get the players' ages correctly.

What you are asking is a lot more time and resource intensive than you think. At least one artist will need to do these changes and most likely an engineer would be involved. I only have experience working with the artist on models of this nature, so I can only speak on that.

I'm expecting no updating/changes so that any done will be pleasant surprises. I suggest doing the same or you risk disappointment.

Given 2K's system of being able to scale weights and builds, it shouldn't take much time to at least improve on younger versions of players. It definitely would take more effort to update faces however.

They really don't need to alter the body styles. These guys have made some changes to their physique but it's not like 2K has 30 different body types to choose from. The ones the current versions of these guys have will be as close as it gets anyways.

Hopefully faces/hair and tats are matching the younger/older versions though.

Agreed on the fact player models and faces and authenticity, at least for the stars, needs to be right. I can't play with a 37 year old player model Vince Carter, with a beard and same accessories on the 2000 raptors. I also think we need a younger looking lebron on the Cavs to give it an actual purpose of that inclusion.

This is truly buy or sell point for me as I'm really into the retro teams. Do it right 2k..

BTW anyone know if we can play these online at all? Would love to..

Agreed. Even just getting the correct facial hair and number of tattoos that correspond to LeBron's appearance that season would go a long way to differentiating the three LeBron player models. Obviously LeBron got more tattoos as he got older. The 2007 LeBron would be the only player model that would be drastically different from the current Cavaliers LeBron player model. Headband, different hairstyle, different facial hair and different tattoos. The 2013 model is not that dissimilar to the current Cavaliers LeBron player model. Besides wearing a headband, different hairstyle and only 1 tattoo that's on the current Cavaliers LeBron player model would need to be removed the Akron Est 1984 and more of a stubble beard than the fuller one on his current Cavaliers model.

Yeah, and I can't imagine it can be THAT hard to take a current model, slim then down a bit (for lebron, VC, etc) and then make them more springy to match their younger versions for starts. At least give us that.

Everyone hating on the 07 Cavs inclusion. Personally I would LOVE it, if they give it full authenticity. A rookie lebron is way different than a current lebron.

I think it comes down to a trained eye or attention of detail to notice all the differences which I feel like some of their devs have some don't.

We'll see.

The fact that there are no Spurs teams added is atrocious. I mean they have won 5 championships between the '98 team that is in the game and now. A championship team seriously needed to be added considering some of the teams that were added. A Prime Tim Duncan team is sorely missed. 2k messed up on this one. Any of the championship teams would have been awesome. Well the '99 would be my least wanted since the '98 team is already in the game but '05/'03/'07 are more historic and better than most of the teams added. Especially the '07 Cavs. I mean we brutally swept them.

And just to clarify, I do like most of the teams added, I just think it is crazy that they didn't add a Spurs team before considering borderline "historic" teams
like the Cavs or Wolves. And I think the '13 Heat is too soon. By that logic, the '14 Spurs should be included since they basically murdered that team the following year.

14' Spurs are one of the best rounded teams of all time. They dropped a few records too but I think it's because the 14 Spurs aren't much different from now roster wise. All the retro teams are drastically different then current.

Don't they have the Drob Duncan Spurs in there yet?

Yeah, I don't think they should add the '14 Spurs yet, it's too soon. But I think it's also too soon for the '13 Heat but they still added them, that's my problem. And they do have the Admiral and TD on the '98 Spurs but that isn't even the championship '99 Spurs team which is better. But my main problem is that they don't have a Spurs historic team in the 2000's where Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker were all in or close to their primes. Some argue that the roster is the same in the 2000's compared to this year and it's semi-true because personnel-wise it is obviously similar; however, Duncan and the rest of the Big Three were better/more explosive players back then, especially Ginobili and Duncan so it's a big difference between the this decade and the last decade. Not to mention having our defensive stopper Bruce Bowen.

No I'm with you, I was hoping for a deep level of detail for this years 2k classic teams. Down to the way guys like Ginobili is more explosive in 2003, and different play styles were run for a younger pop too. But that would require a lot of dedication to that aspect of the game

I enjoy playing with the classic teams, but the last couple years there have just been too many guys missing from teams to be fun playing with, so Im hoping its improved this year. If not Im going to attempt to create the missing players if I cant find them in 2k share. My problem is I cant do face edits worth a darn.


Personally some of the teams the added just don't make much sense, especially the 13 Heat team, classic means years ago, not a couple years back, so that's ridiculous they have them in. IMO the KG,Pierce and Allen Celtics aren't a classic team either no longer than its been, but whatever.




I really wish Reggie Miller and Barkley would sign on so we could have a classic Pacers team and the Barkley Suns team that got to the finals, but I understand its hard to put those 2 teams in the game when the best player from each team wont sign up for it. Still there is other older teams that could have been added instead of some of the rescent teams they made classic.


I would like to see them add in the ABA teams, or atleats some of them like the Pacers ABA teams, as they were dominant in the ABA years with Slick as there coach.

Agree so much wanting the pacers! I can only assume they added teams like the 13 heat and 07 Cavs for the fact many guys are already on current rosters so no new licenses or contracts are needed for those teams except for a few players
