Be a Pro Coach Expectations

Hi,

I'm just returning to EA NHL after a number of years not playing. I am enjoying the game. Mostly play EASHL and Be a Pro on All Star difficulty.

In my Be a Pro career, I was drafted 12th overall as a defence. I started on 1st pairing in the first 3 pre season games and did fairly well at 3 goals and 2 assists. But I didn't meet the coach expectations (which were only 900 pets or so) and was demoted to 2nd pairing. The next game my expected points were 1700. I was surprised that they went up given I was going to get less ice time etc. not surprisingly I didn't meet them and was demoted to third pair where my expected points were 2700. Lol. Something doesn't seem right here. Anyone have experience with this and can explain if this is normal.

Any advice would be great. At this rate I'll be demoted to rec league with an expected points of 250 000 a game

The points aren't on a game-by-game basis, it's on a total preseason basis. Therefore since you didn't meet the point total in a particular game, those carry over to the next game and so on and so forth.

AH, thanks that makes sense. Is there a way to see what total you've accumulated (so I know how big the gap is)?

Just re read your message and think your saying the 2700 points is the gap. If that's the case I'm definitely missing something on how to earn these points besides the obvious ones that I'm getting now. I do recognize that at time I get negative points for taking a penalty or having a turnover, but am struggling how I would get the required points. guess I'll keep trying and see if it eventually makes sense.

Ok, so finished pre season and still on nhl roster. I can usually get the offence and defence grades required, but can't seem to get team play. I pass the puck, play my position, but. These don't seem to accumulate anything towards the grade goal or not very much anyway. Any advice on things I should be doing to get a good grade in this area?

I came here to post this. Also, no matter what I do, I can't get above a C or C- in Team Play. Maybe that's because of not being able to complete the assigned task of taking faceoffs. It's frustrating.

My BaP is a 2-way defenseman and and 5 games into rookie CHL season, offense is what my coach wants the most. I probably find offense the hardest to get to although I've been able to all 5 games so far. Defense is easy to get an A in and team play I've luckily been able to squeak by every time. I agree though some of the things the coach wants you to do makes no sense. I have my player set to never fight yet for team play I'm suppose to start one lol.

It is the same thing for me, but I play right wing. I have fulfilled everything else, but the coach want we to win a faceoff (or several, I don't know). I have had one chance in overtime and failed. Now I have had this coach expectation for 14 games. Yes I am frustrated, but maybe even more so because I like the game so much that I continue to play.
Does the coach change unfulfilled expectations after a number of games, or is it possible to force the coach to change expectation?

No... as an OFD, I have been stuck with the silly task of successfully pulling a jump deke over a sprawling opponent, for the past 30 games or so.

My task is not only ridiculous (what coach would ask this from one of his D!?) but also impossible since the opponent pretty much never dives to try to block shots.

This is what's really bugging me with the coach tasks. They would be great if they were situational and changed depending on how the game was going, but as it is now it's apparently just an ingame tutorial to teach you all the "tricks" you can do, or rather force you to do them. Ridiculous to say the least.

Well lucky me, after getting stuck with that silly jump deke task with my OFD, I decided to start a new game as a Center. (I know that Wingers are eventually stuck with the ridiculous task of winning faceoffs...)

Anyway, I played through the memorial cup, got drafted by the Canes 5th overall and now try to guess with what stupid task I'm stuck after all those games?

Twenty games later and I'm still on faceoffs... Really EA? The game is tons better in almost every way but I can't help thinking this one should have come up with even some basic QA on be a pro. Really hope that gets patched but not holding my breath.
