Why am I so scared of preordering digitally?!

My local GameStop is not doing Early Tip-Off, which is insane to me. This is a college town and every year that I've gone to GameStop/Walmart for the traditional Monday night release there's been a few dozen people there to buy the game. The closest GameStop to me is 55 minutes away and I'm honestly considering in putting in my preorder and driving out to get it.

But why the hell would I do that? I like physical copies of games, mainly to have the opportunity to resell them if I don't like them, but I don't think there's anyway I am going to be unhappy with NBA 2K16.

Does anyone else have this irrational problem with buying digital copies of games?

Will the annual Black Friday $30/$40 make it feasible to possibly sell 2K16 for close to max value then get it back cheaper? Am I crazy? Do I need to just shut up and buy the digital version and start downloading it now?!

just buy and download, i'd do it now even if you have good internet. 12 hours should be enough time to get it all downloaded and installed. I did digital for Madden and the show this year, for the show i had to wait but for madden it was already installed immediately ready to do whatever i wanted. same here.

If you plan on playing this until 2K17, you're better off buying digital IMO. If you sold 2K16 a month or two before 2K17, you're only getting around $12-15. Obviously, if you go digital, you can't get any back. However, consider that the fee you pay for the convenience of not needing a disc/launching from the hard drive and being able to play it at midnight.

This was the first game I've ever downloaded instead of buying a physical copy. I usually buy the disc so I can resell it but I never sold 2k14. And I highly doubt I will want to sell 15. There's really no downside to it. Never have to worry about the disc scratching or taking it out to play another game.

These boards are flooded with such pointless posts the day prior to release... :\

Because buying the physical copy is still the smart move financially.

What happens if your internet goes down? Or PSN and XBL go down? That means you can't play your digital copy, correct?

                    You can still play.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

You can...it's on your hard drive, not the cloud.

Only until your bluray drive fails. Happened with my ps3 (after 5 years of intensive (2-3 hours a day) use, so it's pretty durable), i fixed it myself and the used drive i bought was 85€ i believe.

With that said, i still buy physical as well. Even though i probably should just buy digital from the us store. I pay 70€ which is 79$ while i could get it for 60$ on psn. That's 19$ (about 17€) which is basically what i get for selling 2k15. Maybe i'll just go digital next year, especially if i want to buy vc as well.

Edit: This was just a tip for myself and other non-us users. Not sure if it's completely legal though.

The Benefits of buying it digitally outweighs the negatives

                              1. You don't have to go to the store and leave the comfort of your house
                              2. You get the game early
                              3. You don't have to get up to change the discs

The only downside is you can't resell the game but 9 times out of 10 your going to sell it 1-2 months before 2K17 comes out. Which means you will only get like $12-$20 bucks for it , which is pointless . Your better off just keeping the game .
