Would you buy a licensed College Hoops game with noneditable generic rosters and why.
Having gotten a small but oh so sweet taste of 2K college ball via MyCareer mode I got to thinking. What is the interest in a college hoops game similar in looks and gameplay to what we have in MyCareer except, of course, no real or even facsimiles of real players. Totally generic but real teams. It goes without saying that I and a few other college fans would but I was just wondering how many people in the broader community actually care about college ball and would buy such a game from 2K sports.Tags: None -

I would. After the first 4 or 5 seasons it would be that way regardless.Having gotten a small but oh so sweet taste of 2K college ball via MyCareer mode I got to thinking. I would. I couldn't care less about real college players. Best part about NCAA football was signing a big prospect. Online players might care but i play offline only.EA Sports - If it's in the game, it doesn't work!Comment

I would, but I think that those of us who would are in the minority. Most people really need the "real" players very badly.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

I would like the real players, but I'm totally fine with generics knowing the legal situation around the NCAA. Like you I'm an offline player. I always got more into the generated players who came along. Particularly the ones who spurned my scholarship offer. If we crossed paths I always tried to humiliate the kid...LOL. The generics look awesome in NBA2K16. I could see playing with them for a few years and then importing them to NBA2K. I could see it being an issue with online players, no doubt. They will want to play with the new hot one and doners. But if the teams play to their respective strengths then it could be lessened.Comment

I have long suspected that. Especially with college ball. All you ever hear about or see are the one and done guys. It's really no different than everybody running with LeBron, Durant or Curry in NBA2K.Comment

I know College fans would for sure and I still think that about 50% of NBA fans would too just to generate draft classes that at least they themselves are familiar with.GM of the KC Royals in the OS Arbitration ThreadOriginally posted by theenginePlus, there are lots of illiterate Pro Bowlers. I simply miss the college 'feel', the college spirit and aura. I'd deal with generic players, teams, coaches, etc. if it meant that'd be back in this gen.Comment

I would because it's college basketball plain and simple, yeah I'd love to enter their real names but it wouldn't be a gamebreakerComment

Probably not. However, if they let us edit rosters but had no Roster Share Feature, plus connected it to NBA 2k (with the draft, stats, etc). Then it would be a Day 1 Buy.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

I could see that. I'm no lawyer but I believe it was the accurate in everything but name avatars that killed EA in the lawsuit. But I'd fully expect 2K, the universities and the NCAA to protect themselves if this were to happen. I could see CAP, but no editing or sharing stock rosters and that's where I think it hurts sales and interest as evident by some comments here. And that's cool, I get it. A MyCareer mode equivalent and MyTeam could help offset that I think. It would be cool to get "college" cards of current NBA players and put them on your favorite college team and play online; like NCAA Football did in 14'. Imagine how cool finding a card from the players who never went to college (LeBron, Kobe, KG) or college greats (like Bias or Geathers). They would have to do something extra to get more casuals, though.Comment
