Overall; What are your thoughts on Spike Lee's MyCareer Story?

First I'd like to acknowledge that I am aware of official 2k16 MyCareer thread that has been posted in this section, however, I'm asking for people's thoughts on Spike's story itself.

Do you feel it was narrated well?
Do the topics that were raised in the story relevant to Freq's and your rookie year?
Do you feel it was almost pointless to have it there in the first place?

These are but a few discussion topics that you can answer and I think it would be great if you had other questions that others could answer or compose!

I do think it was narrated well, if it's cuts scene looked more like say a Arkham Knight or something we would've probably thought it was a movie. I wish it was longer and more fleshed out though. The ending you can't tell me wasn't good.

Yes! Arkham Knight was almost seamless since there were rarely any loading screens or closed areas. That was certainly a well written story

Would have been more interested in a Tarantino one.

I pretty much started skipping cut scenes after the first couple. Was completely bored and didn't care about the story.

It should be called "Freq's career" instead of "MyCareer" since it's not our life
About the history, I rather prefer not to be the favourite or #1 draft... too much expectation.

Why didn't the story grab you per se?

Yeah that seems to be the case. If they patched in that the announcers would stop saying Freq in season 2 then it wouldn't be as bad

I'd like to see a basketball game allow you to become anything besides a star. In stead of having to score 30+ a night just to win I could ride the 6th man and score 12 to 18 max. That would be awesome

Don't really like it because it make me feel this is not my career.
Should have allow us to make some decision like side with vic or cut him off.

I skipped most of the cutscenes. It was definitely better done than last year, but the limited assets and watered down story (NBA isn't going to sign off on anything the least bit risque) really stopped it from being interesting.

There was one scene that I thought had real potential for something to do next year. There was a brief documentary-style interview with the player that felt more resonant than the mo-cap acted scenes. I would be much more enthusiastic about an ESPN 30 for 30 type documentary about my player that covered a similar High School to the pros journey. The same story could be told without having to rely on interactions between "characters."

I really enjoyed the story. Personally I loved the voice acting from everyone and I thought it was well done. I only wish 2 things...one that we actually got to make choices and two, now that it's over I'm worried I'm going to lose intrest in the mode because of a lack of cut scenes and story elements. Luckily I'm a creative person so I can work around that stuff.

Cool, but in this day and age you really need interactivity if you're doing something like this in a video game.

As far as writing and voice acting goes, it was roughly ten thousand times better than any of the cheesy dialogue and horrible nba voice acting we got in 2k14/15.

But, as many others will agree with, the lack of choice was terrible and made the overall experience a negative one. I mean, I still haven't got over the fact that I don't actually play my rookie year. And I swear I still cringe even into my second year when the announcers call me "Freq" or I do that stupid dance

Also it was really weird how the story made you a superstar but you're 55 OVR coming off the bench with your agent talking about a max contract. lol

I've been saying this for years, both Madden and MLB The Show have something like this.

Making it so everyone gets drafted in the first round and is supposed to be on the fast track to become the next lebron is boring. I mean sometimes I want to play like that, but other times I like the struggle of fighting for starting minutes
