Re: Madden NFL 16 Title Update #2 Available Now, Full Details Included
I'm glad you are enjoying the game, really. With all due respect. The drive goals were a major new feature and design decision. Tiburon feels there is nothing wrong with it.
Can they improve it for Madden 17? Absolutely. Just like they gave us the ability to raise confidence below 50 to keep the playing field more level in our CFM's.
I have been playing 32 team control and it has been awesome. On the other hand I am also playing a solo offline fantasy CFM and drive goals are there and I have had basically zero issues in my enjoyment of the game.
There is a loud minority about this perceived issue. I say perceived because the guys who designed and programed the game obviously think it is just fine as it is.
They are not changing a major back of the box feature via a patch this year.
The pros and cons of this new feature have been talked about ad nausem and i am sure the team see's the various thoughts and will take plenty into account for Madden 17.
What I am saying is......it is not changing. So let's move on.
Enjoy the game. It is really good. IF you can't overlook something like that....well, that's too bad.
At least for myself....I can, I have and I am loving Madden 16.
But this is an issue, and to say it's not is just wrong. I don't know how many games you win on average each season you play, but with the drive goals and the confidence boost and the boost to the players overall I basically can't be beaten.
And yes, there are sliders, and I do use them. I have seen your slider set, and for me I use it as a rough draft and basically handcuff myself a little more than those sliders because it's too easy. I've found a nice slider set with the workaround to drive goals that give me competitive games. But with the drive goals my defense is unstoppable, and my offense is just as deadly. The first game of the season, sure, it's an actual GAME and not a beat down. But after that first win, the next game is easier, then the next game is even easier, and so on and so forth.
This is a HUGE issue for people who don't want to take a team and go 15-2 or 16-0 each and every season, especially if you are trying to do a rebuild project. I have no idea how anyone can find any game challenging when the drive goals are active, it's just your overpowered team versus the computer that hasen't had their overalls inflated.Comment

FWIW regarding the LT issue, I've simulated a couple seasons and been paying attention to G. Robinson of STL specifically and he doesn't seem to be losing anything on his Pass Block. He's still giving up absurd amounts of sacks but he's not losing anything. Is there any other guys that this was an issue with that I can check?Comment

I did not say it is not an issue. I said the developers are not viewing it as an issue. So they are not acknowledging it in this years game.
There are 2 known work around's. 32 team control which takes all of 30 minutes to set up and you can run just one team and let the CPU do the rest or you can do the other method that has a thread.
Use the workarounds and enjoy the game. That is the way to go about it. The developers are well aware of the communities issues with drive goals and how it makes the game far too easy for some players.
I look for solutions to something that we know is not being patched. If people don't want to have to do that......I get it.
But it is what it is. The question is....do want to play Madden or not? I do. I am using the tools I have to make it great for myself.
Crap I remember no patches....you got the game.....and that was it.Now Playing on PS5:

Played a half in my cfm before going to work, and the game is playing better than ever for me. I don't have any major issues with cfm because of the workarounds. I'd say more but the tenor of this thread has made me not want to rain on the complaining parade.Jordan Mychal Lemos

After all their marketing and investment they've made into Drive Goals, etc., there's no way they're changing it for M16. Even if EA is agreeing with us 100% that Drive Goals was not implemented well, they won't ever come out and say that. Too much went into that feature. Sure, they might tweak some things in a future patch...maybe tone down confidence boosts or allow for us to turn it on or off (which is all I could ask for, really), but I think we're stuck with it overall for M16. And a special thanks to those who figured out a workaround. At least we have that, and it's not too hard to do.
And like A&S, I too remember the days without any patches. I've never seen a team react so quickly and be as transparent with what they're doing. Remember when EA never said a peep? Yes, there are still things they haven't fixed yet that are driving me crazy (I'm in the camp that we need a little more XP or stronger Game Prep), but the fact that they're alluding to doing to do a 3rd patch, says a lot, and the game still plays great overall. It's only 5 weeks or so and we've had 2 patches and a tuner update (which is debatable on its efficacy). I'm going to be try and stay positive and hope they do a 3rd patch within the next 2-4 weeks that fixes most of the remaining issues, and then we can focus on playing the game.Comment

Excellent, that's good news to hear. If you don't mind me asking, are you playing with or without the tuner? I was playing without for it for awhile, but I wonder if it'll be better now with the new patch.Comment

I understand that they're not gonna overhaul drive goals but did they at least tweak them?
I mean, getting a confidence boost for not allowing a rushing TD while getting carved through the air or for going 3 and out but not allowing a sack is beyond ridiculous.Comment

I'd just like to echo his sentiments as well. I played a full game earlier post patch and lost to the 7-6-1 Browns led by Austin Davis. It was a game I absolutely choked away 23-21 but the game played great. Davis played to his ratings and ended up like 20-46 passing but led them to a FG drive with one second left. Gameplay is still excellent and I'm playing with the tuner.Comment

Unfortunately this is a spot on assessment. This was a design feature for 16, a really poorly designed and not well thought out feature, but one none the less.
When I'm getting a drive goal boost because I didn't give up X rushing yards because the CPU scored on a 1 play 75 yard TD pass, something is amiss. "Good job stopping the run guys, but coach they didn't run. I know great job you guys rock!"
Having said that there are workarounds and the game plays well for me so I use them.<a href="http://www.operationsports.com/Danimal/blog/6756-going-old-school-v1/">Read my blog Going Old School v1 GridIron! football.Comment
