Allegations: UL staffer paid escorts to sleep with recruits/players

This is quite the allegation that has been levied against Louisville. A Louisville based madame, claims to have been paid over $10k over a 4 year span (2010-2014) by former Director of Basketball Operations at UL. She claims to have pictures (already one leaked although it doesn't show anything incriminating) and text messages.

First and foremost, this is clearly a money grab. With that said, if she has proof as she claims, money grab or not, this will not end well for UL. Especially considering this included the 2013 Championship team.

I believe it when there is proof.

I would also like to know who is the author or co-author of this book with the madame.

EDIT: The author/creator is Dick Cady.

Call me cynical but for me this is a non-story, even if it's false.
Even if it's false I wouldn't be surprised it was happening elsewhere at 20, 25, or even 40 universities.

So the Co-Author is a Pulitzer Prize winner and says he vetted her and believes her story and evidence she has.

Sounds like now she has another story to sell.

Apparently the proof, or at least some of it, is in the book. The co-author has said that he has seen the text messages and emails personally which suggests this stuff wasn't made up or forged. He said he does not know if Pitino knew of it though.

Also, Jaquan Lyle has said that he did see strippers in the dorms but did not see any sex. Apparently in the book, the madame (as she calls herself) listed about 12 player's names but said that not all of them participated.

Mike DeCourcy at The Sporting News thinks UL may try and self imposed ban to help get this case closed quickly. Not sure how this will play out but I know there is some legal investigations going on due to the "madame" stating one of her daughters was 15 at the time, which is underage. I think she may have something to worry about herself.

IBJ Book Publishing, which published Powell’s expose, provided Yahoo Sports with some text messages it had that purportedly were discussions between Powell and Louisville director of basketball operations Andre McGee. One of them referred to Lyle, who as a high schooler made an unofficial visit to Louisville in early June 2013.

“Been a long time since we’ve been up to U of L to do a show. McGee texted me like, what’s up? He wanted me to bring three girls up there for a new recruit named JaQuan Lyle, he and his friend. I took (escorts) Rod-Ni, TooTall, Jazmine and Shay, who calls herself Sammi. TooTall made $100, Shay made $100, and Jazzy made nothing because she did absolutely nothing."

On Monday, June 10, 2013, Powell allegedly texted McGee: “Hey Andre what was the name of the recruit the tall chic was with Saturday.” McGee allegedly responded: “jaquan lyles (sic) ... some other dudes is looking for tall chick.” The book says that was part of a 22-text exchange between Powell and McGee pertaining to Lyle’s visit.
Lyles confirmed the "gist" of Powell's allegations are true but I haven't seen/read what specifically. I think this will end very badly for Pitino and UofL.

Again, I'll believe it when it is proven by the NCAA or police departments. I don't trust all the allegations this woman has made.

What is funny though, is she wrote this "book" for money, but in doing so is probably going to land herself in jail for prostitution and for explorting a minor.

^ if she goes to jail for that, then everything she said must be true. Only way she could go if it was proven.

An actual university employee buying strippers and escorts for recruits? No way. Recruits get shown a good time, for sure. But pretty much all of them are smarter than tying it directly back to the program.

One player, on the condition of anonymity, confirmed he had sex with one of the escorts.

Just not looking good for UL or Pitino right now. Pretty much every analyst is saying that regardless if Pitino knew, they don't see how he survives this.

I find part of this ridiculous.

You mean to tell me not one single recruit told his parents? Not one parent screamed about how unmoral this is? Me, as a parent, would be telling the media or contacting the university in outrage.

Something is off and still fishy to me.
