As crazy it sounds, would it be possible to move back to the Island if someone built them a new rink?

Hopefully things get better. But not selling out your home opener, in a new city no less, has got to raise a few flags.

Not being a native of the area, I've read in the past that Brooklyn isn't that great of a sports town and it takes time to lure the fans in.
    Any truth to that?
I have a friend who lives down the street from Barclays. He's originally from Toronto, a Leafs season ticket holder, and has adopted the Isles as his other team. He signed up for season tickets around when the move was first announced, and went to the preseason game last year and the crowd was sparse. Went again this year and there were more Devils jerseys in the crowd than Islanders.

From reports Barclays isn't a great hockey venue, and Park Slope and surrounding areas have hockey pretty far off the radar. I guess they are trying to build a Rangers model of a globally recognized "Big City" NY spectacle rather than a pro hockey team for a community that is interested in hockey. Additionally, the Isles are now pretty inconveniently located relative to their old fan base. It's a hell of a commute, generally, getting from the communities farther out on Long Island down into the heart of Brooklyn.

It seems, for now, the organization has forsaken their fan base, in hopes they could capture a brand new, "cooler," and possibly larger one.

I'm pretty sure the Nets are doing just fine in that building. As it was stated, awful building for hockey. There are seats they sell where you can barely even see one of the nets.

It's going to fail and fail hard. Which is bull**** because they were finally getting their act together with a nice group of young players. Feel sorry for their real fans.

I saw one of the Islanders games on TV, and from the looks of it, they have no seats in the corner of the arena. It looks like those european games, cause they have no seats in the corner, but instead have the entire side blocked off to have a car on display with an ad on it.

Arena wasn't built for hockey for sure. It sucks how NHL wants multiple teams in the NY area, but wouldn't even think about having two teams in the Toronto area when that's easily their biggest/most valuable market by a longshot.

Two last place Toronto teams will still bring in more money than 2 first place teams in any other city, that's the sad part about Toronto, but good from a business/money making perspective.
(look at the top left of the ice, that's the area I'm talking about)

The reason Ovie wasn't in the line-up yesterday?
          He overslept.

The Coyotes are pretty fun to watch this year, Domi and Duclair are a nice duo, Ekman-Larsson is good, now if the league would just relocate them to a hockey market. Some good young pieces and Strome on the way as well.

Duclair's shot is amazing, just got a hat-trick.

Pastrnak is so good, impresses me every time I watch him.

So nice to have a competent backup goalie for once. The Leighton/Boucher/Emery/Zepp revolving door was fun while it lasted.

Zach Parise is just on another level right now.

5 goals and an assist through 2.5 games.

From Russo's Twitter: Downie told Suter in 1st pd he owed Ryan for elbow last year. "I said you owe me a lot of $ for the dive you took. That made him mad"
