I was told yesterday it is the lowest selling sports game ever on next gen consoles. The figures are not surprising.

It is a shame as it likely means the end of any support. Sean O'Brien pleaded with people pre release to try it and promised he would be around to support the game...

He has dissapeared. Not a single post or comment in October. He is the lead developer....way to abandon ship. Not a single post or comment post release.

The 2K devs have been all over the web supporting their product...as have Madden...and all other games. The LIVE guys just dissapear.

I was told by a very relieable source pre release the game would feature extensive patches and, excitingly, updated play books all season...

New plays...more plays...changes to reflect new coaches or schemes...would all be added post release.

Guessing we see none of those now...which would be a big dissapointment as it was the prime reason I bought it.

Having said all that....as someone who bought 15 also, we probably should have seen this coming.

Yeah, it is all over twitter and gaming forums.

2K has grown into an absolute beast...the biggest selling game. Full stop. I am shocked it outsold MGS and FIFA.

Completely off topic...I did not buy Mad Max as I thought it would not sell at all and be abandoned. The guys on the threads here seemed to love it. Going on these numbers, it has done incredibly well. I think I will pick up a copy.

          Back on topic...

The NPD Group reveals the top selling games of September 2015, with NBA 2K16, Madden NFL 16, Metal Gear Solid 5, FIFA 16, and Destiny at the top of the list.

The NPD results for September are in, and it looks like fans of sports games turned out in droves to purchase this year’s entry in their favorite annual franchises. However, despite the dedicated fan bases for these games, overall software sales were down 3% compared to the same time last year.
The PlayStation 4 led hardware sales for September, but hardware suffered a steeper decline than software sales, down 23% this year. Gaming software still managed to pull strong numbers in September largely because the month consisted of numerous multi-platform sports titles, along with new entries in long-established franchises.
These are the top selling games of September 2015:
          1. NBA 2K16 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
          2. Madden NFL 16 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
          3. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
          4. FIFA 16 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
          5. Destiny: The Taken King (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
          6. Super Mario Maker (Wii U)
          7. Disney Infinity 3.0 (PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
          8. Mad Max (PS4, Xbox One)
          9. NHL 16 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)
          10. Minecraft (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

If they don't get it they should now. Give the people what the want/have been asking for.

I honestly hope this game has sold more than 8,300.

Honestly until they are better than 2k or equally as deep in every feature it will be like this. Little improvement to all modes, still no customization, only adding pro am but it w/o a four quarter full rules version.... They just have to give it a huge budget/ staff for two years to catch up because they simply aren't improving fast enough with the current one.

                Wow...if that number is true....wow !!!!

I'm guessing live 14 & 15 out did that number.

Like I said in a previous thread. How much longer can ea go at that clip of sales ???

Maybe it's time to finally give NBA live a "madden or FIFA" type budget and really try to make this game a contender .

Idk why EA just doesn't have the price dropped to 39.99 from jump start, I mean most stores cut the price within the first month or two anyway just to get it off their shelves.

I know we all love having competition and options in sports gaming, but I don't see EA giving this game much more support in the future, its already their least marketed game in the lineup which shows they don't want to invest money in the product, but with sales numbers like this and the $40,000 it cost per patch released they might be putting out more money then they are getting in return, and that's never good for business.

If they didn't let us try the demo, the probably could've gotten a few thousand more buys. Once everyone knew for certain that the game was garbage it was game over.

Guess struggle Live apologist excuses and apology letters will be on their way shortly. What can be said? They really need to talk to people who don't buy their game, and find out why? That's the key. I've been burned playing their games, and feedback taken for granted as a 2yr QA Live tester, so that put me off from buying any subsequent release period. Def will play their demos though.

As an animation/ game design major. The biggest culprit to me with Live is that this game loses believability. What I mean, it starts with how it animates. You cant go around touting: "best in class animation" when odd/spastic stuff happens in this game. Once the spastic stuff starts, you lose the 'believability' of human movement. that's where this game falls apart. Granted the animations have gotten better in some instances, but when you keep reusing bad assets and cut corners, it shows and sticks out.

Most people probably didn't even pick up or notice this or make the connection, but I did. Case in point: J. O'Neil jumps and shoots backwards in the infamous Hard8times Jesus Bynum vid starting at 2:36. This is 5yrs ago, on PS3....

yet this stuff still happens in Live 16 on PS4/X1? There's others things I noted. legacy issues still present, but its just pointless when you been pointing it out and it just falls on deaf ears.

I could be wrong, but I don't think EA can lower the price of the game until a certain amount of time has passed. Seems I remember reading something about the respective leagues not liking that. The NFL, supposedly, didn't take too kindly to 2K releasing 2K5 for 20 bucks. For me, on the whole, Live is worth between 25 and 35 bucks.
