Can someone help me. I haven't played Live in years. Was going to buy 16 but ended up winning a copy in a giveaway on another forum. Since it arrived in the mail, I had only been playing Rising Star. Last night I decided to change it up and started up a dynasty. First minutes of the first game, I chucked up a 3-point shot and it was a horrible shot, because it ended up being taken by a player with a 3-point skill of 25.

What do I need to be looking at to know I shouldn't take a 3-point shot or a long 2-point shot with specific players? I'm sure as hell not about to try and memorize which specific shots I can take which specific players.

2K has a pretty simple visual aid to show if you're about to take a very low percentage, bad shot with a player with a low skill rating for that distance. But despite constantly watching the entire first game of my dynasty, I had no obvious clue what I was or wasn't supposed to be looking at to tell me "don't take a 3-point shot with him, he sucks from long range!"

That's such a silly opinion.

The two games have gone around in circles. There was a time when 2K was a budget title, a year or two there where they removed the post game (I think it was 11 or 12 that had zero post moves) and then more recently where a few years in a row (the main game/gameplay) we were being charged full price for roster updates.

Now the tables have simply turned and if EA get their S# together, they will again.

Right now 2K have become what many of us disliked about EA. And thankfully (my personal opinion) there are still a few of us who prefer the free flowing feel of Live from a simple, fun perspective than the slow, chunky, press a button and put the controller down while a 5 second animation plays out type of gameplay.

I'll have to disagree with you about 2K becoming what ea is. People say that usually in defense of ____ ea game, but I think it's an exaggeration to suggest that the nba 2k series is anywhere near as bad/underwhelming as live and madden especially.

Each year the 2k games are great, even more impressive when it's competitor can't even give us the ability to edit player ratings for the 3rd year in a row.

It's frustrating how one company just shells out the same mediocre game each year(you figure it out), because they have no competition, yet the other company basically has no competition either, yet they somehow find a way to put out a high quality game every year.

And then some wonder why sales are bad. Simple/basic features are still missing after 3 more years. I just don't understand this team over at EA

HONESTLY, it's been the same thing year after year, they give away about 20 copies for dudes on youtube to HYPE the game, tell how great it is, what all is different and wait until you get to play the full version, it's much more updated, great, has all the updates as needed. Stick a fork in this franchise.

Why bitter? I own both games, have so every year since day 1 of each series. I buy them, play them and keep playing the more enjoyable one. Not rocket science dude.

I've seen the good and bad for both games.

Live 16 plays better, it's simple as that. Greater responsiveness for basics like passing and shooting. A more dynamic trip down the court every play, better collisions on drives, a much, much better atmosphere both with court and stadium audio and visuals and better player models.

2K is more consistent across the board in that Live's bads are real, real bad (their funky animations, lack of editing, lack of depth) but when it works it works great.

"Little thing" I noticed; if you select to play in a Latin night jerseys, it plays a Latin version of the ESPN theme when the game boots up...pretty cool.

Wish there were more "little things" to pull me in.

NBA LIVE 16 isn't a bad game....but it's just missing...."soul" maybe? Can't put my finger on a word.

There just isn't enough variety between players, teams to keep me engaged. I feel like I'm playing with the same teams, just different skins at times. Most possessions look the same and I never feel like I'm going to see something fresh each time down....either a 3, drive or hook shot....

Makes the great things that Live does do, like the crowd noise irrelevant for me....can't appreciate the crowd getting hype if what's happening on the court doesn't get you hype as a player.....

Not sure if a patch can do much to change that feeling...

Is there 'any' sign of a catch and shoot mid range game yet in any of the synergy updates?

Do you play proper NBA teams on Pro (and defending like a real team would, to allow the CPU to run plays)?

I just played against the Spurs and (I can only guess with a mixture of last year and this current preseason Synergy) Aldridge was in the high post shooting 18 footers and rotated from there to the low post with hook shots. It was very nice to see.

Durant also shoots mid range jumpers when you play him.

It's not perfect, but it exists. To me, it all comes down to your defense because there is some dodgy programming where if a guy sees an open lane (even if you quickly fill it) 9 times out of 10 he will charge like a bull and launch a shot.

Thats what they need to fix, they need to add in a much, much higher % of those drives kicking back out once stopped in the paint and also program guys to pull up mid range rather than kamikaze'ing to the hoop.

Any source for the info about an opening night patch? If so, that would be awesome. I personally haven't touched the game much myself waiting for a gameplay patch.

Hadn't played it in a while either.....but I checked it out this morning and no, the offenses aren't generally looking for anything but 3's and driving unless forced into something at the end of the shot clock.

TBH, you should be able to sag off bigs without them turning on guard speed and making dashes to the basket...

Where did you hear about the day 1 patch?

Just bought this game two days ago off Amazon for $43 for the Xbox One. So far the only mode I've been able to play is Pro Am so I can only base my opinion on that. Reason being that there's hardly any people on when I'm playing so it's hard to get a game in on ranked/myteam. ( I think the most I've seen was like 101 people online and most of those people seem to be in Pro Am.) With that being said, I feel like Pro Am is a pretty solid mode and the main reason I bought the game. I'm really loving it because it takes me back to my days of playing "Street Hoops" on the PS2. How many of yall remember that old school bball game modeled after And 1? Now with Pro Am, I decided to create a 6'8 215 pound Lebron-ish SF. From what I'm seeing, it's really hard to play defense in this mode.
The offensive side of this mode is pretty good. I like how my player moves freely & isn't forced to do some stupid animation like in the other bball game. There's two things that irritate me when it comes to offense. The first is the amount of ballhogs I run into. It seems like I always get that point guard that wants to act like he's Hot Sauce from And 1 and dribble like crazy til the clock runs out. This isn't a problem on EA's part, but I just felt like I had to say it. The second thing I hate about offense, which messes with the defensive side of the game/mode, is that it's way too easy for people to score. There's way to many layups being made by small players in the paint & way too many 3s are going in. I'm also hating some of the animations I'm getting while playing inside the paint on offense so I wish they would add more in there.
With that being said, I still find myself enjoying this mode & will continue to play it for the rest of the year. The graphics are really nice. Don't feel like scanning my own face into the game so I can't really speak on that, but I'm seeing some nice scans from the other players I've run into. The atmosphere/sound is really good as well.

Last night I was going to delete the demo but I wanted to give the game another chance. I haven't played it since mid September. But everything was locked and the only option was to purchase the game. No pro-am. Nothing. My character was on the screen. Is this normal? I thought the demo allowed you to at least play pro am for free.

So I just deleted the game. Wasn't about to buy it. Lol. I'm on PS4 btw.

I think that happened with the demo right after the game released. I think if you delete the demo and redownload it will unlock it again.

From me. There should be one dropping in a few weeks, depending on cert. Both games are targeting 30-45 day patches for gameplay tweaks.
