Bump Steals: What's the deal ?

Let's talk about these bump steals for a second?

What is the board consensus with bump steals, are we ok with this or is this an issue people are not exactly feeling?

If you don't know what i'm talking about. When you might be driving to the lane or on a fast break and an offender/defender bumps into you and your player trips and drops the ball. While he's bumbling you are 100% of the time out of position to recover the ball and usually the opponent gets the rock.

I personally hate this. You see them once in a blue moon in an NBA game but in this years iteration of 2k you see them several times a game. It's totally ridiculous to me, it even happens with great ball handlers like kyrie, john wall, cp3, etc. Wish 2k would tune these down/off so we don't have to deal with them any more. I would much rather real steals as opposed to these bump steals that feel very cheesy.

it's annoying because it doesn't apply for the CPU. CPU gets away with it while the user gets punished for it. When u look closely at these bump steals a lot of times you see that they are fouls. The CPU will hit your arm and not even the ball.

I just started seeing these frequently online with guys trying to take charges in the backcourt. If you are turboing when you run into the player, it's a charge. If you aren't turboing, you occasionally stumble and lose the ball, but no foul call either way. I never see the CPU use this, and it hasn't been very effective when I see users do it thus far. I just play slow and go around the guy who chose to be a traffic cone.

I love it. Without it you could have people do size up, spin moves, behind the back, etc right in front of you without any fear of losing the ball.

It makes people think and be aware of the defense in front of you. It also separates people who are good with the sticks and people who are not.

Nothing is more upsetting (at your teammate, not the game) than seeing a teammate try and cross somebody over and then do a spin move right into them losing the ball. Have seen it in the Park too many times with people trying to play hero ball.

Totally agree. It's extremely annoying especially when u have a PG with high ball handling ratings. IF I was trying to run around with my PF or Center then I get i, but guys like Curry or CP3 don't just randomly lose the ball like that.

It happens to everyone. It's when you bump into anyone on the court. And you lose the ball. It mostly happens when players come out of spin moves or drive baseline in a crowd area.

For the most part I like them. It keeps the game balance for the most part. Spin moves should have a penalty if not used right. Or in a crowded area. It keeps the user from thinking he can dribble any where with highly rated players. When in fact even they should lose the ball for dribbling in traffic.

i don't mind them off a spin move but they happen a lot otherwise.

Get your ball handling right and stop trying to turbo too much. This rarely happens to me in pro-am or any 5v5 mode.

It's very frustrating online when you play guys who exploit it. They have guys who have mastered the bump steal and will do stuff like playing defense on just the side of you amongst other tactics. I understand it's realistic and what not, and it really doesn't happen to me playing offline too much, but online it is a pain in the ***!

It's annoying sometimes when it really shouldn't happen..

But then I play someone online in park or whatever and they try and spam moves past me and lose the ball..that's when I'm happy it's there.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

How is that exploiting? sounds like good defense to me. Why not go the opposite side that isn't being defended?

Bump steals have to go period. On Hall of Fame head to head it is a bit excessive. The fact that you can just run into someone and the ball will come loose sometimes is a broken mechanic. It happens often as well. I think strip steals happens a lot too.

I haven't seen strip steals be a problem. I usually feel both in the right and wrong. On either side.
