    Re: WWE 2K16 Review (PS4/XB1)

Really surprised by this review. All of the other reviews I've read have said this game is great. I haven't played a wrestling game in almost 9 years so I'm sure I'm going to love it either way.

      Re: WWE 2K16 Review (PS4/XB1)

Having read through this thread, I don't think anyone's feelings are hurt by the review. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion; I actually like differing opinions instead of the typical hivemind you see with reviews. Also doesn't mean that we can't disagree with the review in a civilized manner.

The game has it's problems: long loading screens to edit movesets/entrances, Universe mode has it's quirks, hard to have a squash match, submission mechanics are weird, graphics are good, not great... but it's still a very solid, authoritative wrestling game.

As far as pinfalls being too easy, that might just mean you're extremely good at the game. I win a majority of my matches, but I lose a fair share as well (by pinfall).

Obviously a review is just one persons opinion and we have to respect that. But when a game is receiving a bevy of positive reviews (currently an 85 on Metacritic) and then gets hit with a score almost 2-3 points lower, it can be confusing and definitely questionable.
We're buds so don't take this the wrong way, but just because something doesn't fall in line with the "norm" or fit snugly in with the echo chamber that happens very often with reviews, doesn't mean it automatically has to be "questioned" or whatever.

Maybe it's just a verbiage thing, but like, you can disagree with the review or say the points made don't equal the score given, but "questioning" it on the basis that it's different alone is shenanigans. If the text of the review didn't jive with the final score, that would be an issue.

To put it another way, just because it's lower rated when compared to other sites doesn't make it inherently questionable. As you said, it's one person's opinion versus another's so all that can be done is to read the thoughts of the review and at least make sure it's consistent with itself.

I'm not really saying we should question the review automatically because of the score. I'm just saying that there is nothing wrong with doing so. It was a response to someone else's post who basically said we shouldn't question the review because its OS.

I don't think I got my point across correctly in my post because I understand what you mean.

For me the weakest part of the game is the backstage interviews in My Career mode. For some reason Rene Young's audio usually misses the first word she says and there are odd pauses between questions. This has huge potential though. Love the concept and idea.

There are several player models that also are rather poorly done.

However, all that can be overlooked with the new additions to the gameplay. I still struggle with the new submission mechanics, but I love not have to smash buttons anymore. I prefer mini-game type interactions that take skill, not destroying several controllers a year playing WWE.

This game is a step in the right direction.

Now they're these awesome games by the same people that were giving them those reviews. Some have even gone back and retroactively changed the ratings in those games, hoping that people would forget. I remember being baffled that those games couldn't get above a 7. I also give the game an 8 out of 10.

The Universe mode is broken. That is a big part of the game. The game until then deserves a INCOMPLETE rating.

What stinks is this game had the potential with just a few fixed to potentially be the most hyped/talked about wrestling game in ages. However, they somehow missed obvious bugs (like not being able to manually have title matches in Universe) and instead just have a lot of pissed off fans.

Amazing to me how a company that generates hundreds of millions of dollars misses something that is so simple. They need to start giving out more test releases to people a month or so in advance so this doesn't happen again. Blows my mind how many games come out with such bad/obvious issues that you have no idea how were missed...

So, in your humble opinion, the mode is completely broken because you can't manually create title matches? Hyperbole at it's finest.

Sure, it's kind of annoying, but to say it's broken in a three paragraph monologue is so overblown it's crazy. I actually feel bad that developers have to hear stuff like this.

I find your response to be hyperbole at it's finest. There is a lot of people who won't play Universe mode with this issue therefore for some it should be considered broken. If issue is fixed, they will play the mode. Just because the issue doesn't block you from playing the mode doesn't mean that it is the same for everyone else.

Developers know more than anyone that they missed the boat on this and the feedback from users is the only way for them to realize how much it impacts some of us.

Are you Joking a 6.5? How could you give this game a 6.5 when IGN gave it an 8.8 and said it was one of the best wrestling games ever! I seriously don't see how you gave it such a negative rating when the only thing bad about the game is bugs that could be patched easily!

Yes, the game is incomplete. You must not have the game or you ave not played the mode at all yet.

                        It's not just titles.

                        Rivalries is screwed up.

No cut scenes in Universe at all unless it's a rivalry.

No manual number 1 contender match.

No manual MITB customization. Same with Royal Rumble. If you customize participants it doesn't register. They just make it a regular match.

The mode is broken. The point of Universe is to book matches how you want/when you want/with who you want. Some of the biggest matches (title matches, the Royal Rumble, MITB, and Rivalries) are all screwed up and 2k has only responded to the title match part so far... that's it.

I'll start feeling bad for developers when games stop costing $60 a pop. I'm sure they're doing fine, lol.

I think you might care a little too much about the specific number. Look at the explanation of OS' ratings and you'll see a 6.5 is an above average game. It's only a negative rating if you're going by the "anything below an 8 sucks" scale that most major sites are using.

$60 is a reasonable price for something that gives hours of entertainment. Compare it to a $12 movie ticket, and it's no comparison. But it's a moot point really. Some people find it a value, some people are cheap

"I feel bad" was probably a bad choice of words on the internet, but it must be annoying to see people with absolutely no clue trash your hard work because of one small omission or bug that is wholly inconsequential to the overall game.
