2K16 has totally killed contested shooting

While I admire their efforts to lower the frequency of jumpers going in (it was pretty ridiculous at times last season), it seems this season it has come at the expense of shots taken when you size up your opponent, use pivot moves, or take tough late shot clock jumpers.

Now before you jump on me and say they don't happen often in real life, here's what I'll say. In a way it's true, but then you go watch LeBron, Curry, Kobe etc and they hit these shots with far greater regularity than in 2K.

Right now unless Curry is wide open, he airballs or badly misses any shot where a defender gets anywhere near him. It's ridiculous, just go look at his 53 point explosion yesterday and look at some of the ridiculous shots he makes.

Superstars and great shooters should not be impacted so heavily by what a defender does to them. Curry doesn't even care if Anthony Davis is on him. LeBron will happily take fallaways from anywhere and hit them, yet in 2K this seems to be a lost art.

I also have a feeling it is to do with the forced animations that occur when the defender gets within a distance of the shooter. I know they're fixing that, but I really hope they look at fixing this other blatant shooting issue.

I should be able to use jab steps, hesitations etc with players with the right amount of skill to create that gap necessary to get a shot off and hit it at a decent clip.

Right now it feels as though you need to completely lose the defender to hit shots regularly.

You can blame 2k15 (particularly patch 4) and the cheeseballs last year for this.

You play offline or online ?
        2k18 fixes

Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)

Late contest on laups matter too much.

        Random blocks doing pumpfakes.

Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.

Couldnt agree more, as purely offline player i cant believe how limited I am forced to be on my offensive arsenal with players like Melo and Durant because of the things you mentioned.

Making it anywhere close to 2k15 patch 4 would ruin defensive play. It is already bad enough with computers giving too much space in pro am, don't need to punish defensive players more..

It a really tough thing to balance. I agree that I see way more contested makes in real life than I do in the game, but IMO it's sort of necessary to be tuned that way to combat other flaws in the game, i.e. A.I. defenders wandering off for no reason, or being exceptionally poor at fighting through off the ball screens and other things as well. A good contest can be hard to come by so it gets rewarded probably more than it should be, but by how much is hard to say.

What I think they can do, it that if a player is hot or in rhythm then contested shots should be more likely to go in. It's possible that they already do this though.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Played a Spurs user online who hit three FACIAL threes with .....Tony Parker. I disagree.

Curry was on fire the last two games, you'll probably hit them on 2k if he's on fire. I don't want players constantly hitting contested jumpers, would make hero ball worse.

I couldn't disagree more. In fact, the last couple of days contested 3s have been dropping at a higher rate for me. I hit back to back contested 3s with Luol Deng today. (All-star/Sim) Yesterday I hit 4 contested 3s with J. Clarkson which have me concerned.

Curry is a human cheat code. Bringing him up in an argument for video games should not be allowed. If 2K allowed us to play with Curry like he plays in real life, the mods of this forum would have to be fireman with all the fires they'd be constantly putting out.

Hey, I agree with u bro. I play with the Warriors and u are absolutely correct. Curry hits nothing unless he's 100% wide open. And that in itself is unrealistic. I wonder if 2k actually watch real life games sometimes. Like u said, Curry hits a lot of shots even with a hand up. Now I know it's a video game and there has to be a counter for Curry but maybe he shouldnt get penalized as heavy. I agree he's basically a spot up shooter and nothing like he is in real life. I think it's a joke the way Curry is watered down in this game.

And what's the point of putting step backs and side steps in the game if their never going to hit them. Curry hits step backs easily IRL. But good luck trying that in the game.

You might be talking more about a player running out to contest a shooter. I'm getting more at when a player sizes a defender up, gives him a jab step etc and quickly fires away. I've found this almost impossible in 2K16 and it is a huge part of NBA basketball.

He definitely is, but he is so ineffective offline because he ends up missing a ton of contested jumpers because of how watered down they are.

Steph is so good, he's better than his video game character.

Let that sink in for a second.

I cannot hit half the stuff he hits in real life with him. He makes a ton of layups, hits one three then won't hit another for ages and whenever a defender gets near him he shoots an awful looking shot
