    Fluctuation In Team Performance

I am curious to see if anyone else has noticed wide swings in team performance during CFM games? I am in a 32 man league, and week to week the performance of my team (and others) seems to vary. This can be defenders coverage abilities, run blocking, fumbles, penalties, etc. It seems as if Madden decides which team it wants to win before the game starts sometimes.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there a way to limit it from happening? Thanks

Enough of a fluctuation that it determines the outcome of games. I realize that it happens in real life, but when there is no rhyme or reason to it Madden, people get frustrated.

In my opinion, games will be closer or bigger blowouts than the team ratings might predict, but it doesn't determine the outcome of games. You can still overcome your team being flat and the other team being amped up. In year 6 of my CFM, My Rams just played Seattle who are 10 pts lower than me. I was at home too, so one would expect me to cruise, but my guys played below their level, their guys played out of their minds, but I was still able to win by 3 with a TD in the last 2 minutes and a game sealing pick with 1 minute left.

I don't get frustrated by it all, it's vitally necessary for the mode, and I actually wish it would sometimes happen even more severely than it does where you just get blown out no matter what you do. Other people might be really upset with that, but I would not.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

It's a video game, so it's driven by scripts within the engine that drive the AI...

Each game has at least a couple / few scripts tied to it and there's also a few different routes / paths within each script that construct the "flow" of the game...

There's "Shootout" scripts / "Defensive Battle" ones, ones where one side can stop the run and the other suddenly can't etc...on and on...

In head to head games, you not only have to beat your opponent, you also may have to overcome a script that favors your opponent more than the team you're controlling...

If you were to play the exact same matchup versus the CPU over and over again, the frequency of certain predictable "game trends" due to scripting, becomes quite apparent...

Just to be clear, I'm talking about user vs user games. In these type of games, you'd like it to be decided based on the "skill" of each player. When the game decides you're going to fumble a few times and your QB will one hop slant passes, it gets a little old.

I was hoping this was tied to something. Maybe consistency? I'm not sure.

Yeah, it might be consistency...but the scripted aspect I was describing seems to exist even in USER v USER games, albeit to a lesser extent...

I agree that is SHOULD be "straight up" USER v USER, but it's not...scripts still come into the overall picture...

we notice scripts in our league all the time. mostly effecting the deffence. when u call the perferct play and your in perfect position to make a int. BOOM your play freezes in place and stands still while the wr catches it and turns up field a good 10 yards b4 your allowed to move your guy who looks like a poster very common. the one that got me the most was one game i hiked the ball in single back, and the ball flew over my qbs head. he did a drop back animation like he had the ball (wouldnt let me stop it) and then planted his feet to in throwing postion. i tried to chase the ball which was now 15 yards back and had 2 de chasing it but it wouldnt let me leave my planted spot until they had recovered the fumble.

Wait a minute; we have bad/fumbled snaps in Madden!? If so, that's great!

You've learned. The equalizer in Madden is real.

Thus far, the most I've seen to allow your team the best shot, is to have as many players with high AWR as possible. Things changed for me big time once I started making that happen.
