I bought this for 47.99 at best buy at release. Price went down to 50 bucks in less than 30 days, matched it at best buy for $40 bucks. Tried really hard to like the game. Can't get over some things.
Gameplay feels tight. Skating feels unnatural. Puck possession is too unrealistic in the neutral zone. Player movement and ice positioning is unrealistic.
No custom music. Roster sharing is non existent. Announcers don't reflect the gravity of the situation on the ice. The player celebrations are cringeworthy, (same reactions, just looks bad).
No strategy to rotate goalies. Injuries don't seem to happen enough, when they do, editing lines and salary cap issues arise. Sliders having little to no impact to having massive impact on gameplay. No differentiation between good and bad players. Bad players should handle the pucks for less than 2 secs or be at risk of losing the puck.
Puck physics and collision detection is ok, except for some odd instances that you just don't see in real hockey. How about major penalties and suspensions for targeting? How about a decent goal review system?
It's 2015....it's PS4. I'm willing to wait for NHL 18 because if history serves itself. NHL 07 - meh...NHL 08 - flawed, but better...NHL 09...turning point, potential....NHL 10...excellence in simulation hockey. NHL 11 thru 14, acceptable but stale.
NHL 15...meh....NHL 16...flawed, but better....NHL 17....????
See the pattern.
I traded it in at 25 plus 60 percent bonus. Got my money back. Looking forward to next year.
The jerseys float on the players.
I'm ready to buy the legacy edition

i keep hoping the next edition will be better (NHL 16 is miles ahead of what NHL 15 appeared to be, but that obviously wasn't a hard goal to meet). But, my worry is that with HUT, other modes of gameplay won't get the same focus. The focus on HUT didn't seem to be as big a few years back. Now it's damn near all EA talks about on their social media, and is the majority of the changes spoken about in their pre-release feeds. I'm holding out hope for NHL 17 to be the game that finally establishes NHL in the glory it used to hold on Next-Gen, but EA's got me anxious about the whole thing.
