You're a PES expert, how many seasons you complete PES 2016? One season mode? PES Master League last 30 years I'm pretty sure. I'm 1 game finished from completing my first season. Every team plays exactly how I want them to because I edit each team according to Whoscored. So every teams tactics are completely different. If you actually played the game, followed the community, you would know that.

Re: PES 2016 and the Idea of Unmitigated Joy
For me once they fix the fouls, improve defensive AI especially to not allow my CB to run from one end to the other on superstar and also allow the CPU AI to shoot from long range and also shoot hi with variety, then yes this game will be amazing and the king is back,as for now, it's repetitive and boring seeing the AI always scoring low shots, defenders running away from player creating unrealistic space, if these problems aren't rectified in the next patch im selling the game and will wait till 2017, tired of konami always making a game 80% complete. Also getting tired of konami deleting modes especially community mode off/online, and master league even tho improvements are made, getting tired of my players always saying this is the best club for me whilst I'm in a relegation battle and everyone is always flattered if transfer rumors are true but when I cancel the transfer they don't say anything. As I said 80% complete.Last edited by RonMexico1992; 11-29-2015, 07:10 PM.Comment

Will the AI manager bring on his 6'4 striker on with 10 mins left and change from a passing game to lumping it up to the big man up top?? Will players adapt their performance depending on position.
I still don't see how a master league can ever be used In the same reply as arguing realism.
If I have to edit every team using a database to get them playing the way they should how is that a claim of greatness.
I'm all for roster edits and sliders and where licenses are missing edit modes.
But if the teams don't ship with their own style and I have to edit it in I just don't get it.
If we are saying a game is realistic and teams play like they would in real life it goes a lot deeper than tweaking a few stats.
Would Man City bring on their reserve keeper for an outfield player and put their first choice keeper up front in an attempt to win the game??? If not it's not realistic (true story) obviously that last bit I'm kidding... Only Stuart Pearce would think that's a good idea!Comment

Hats off to you for editing the game to make it that way and being a PC guy. I was referring to the console version and playing in out of the box.
I believe my points still stand.
It doesn't replicate they real world of football (on or off the pitch) anywhere near its claimed.
FIFA may or may not do better or worse. Sensible world of soccer rules supremeComment

What keeps bringing me back to PES, is that it's a good game. Gameplay wise, I still enjoy it. I played with FIFA 16 for 30+ hours and I just didn't have fun. I started a career with Hamburg and wether I was playing against Bayern Munchen, Mainz, Frankfurt or Borussia Dortmund, it felt boring. It seems I was playing the same game over and over again.
With PES, the game is more unpredictable. The best part is that I totally feel the difference from one player to another. If I control a guy like Arda Turan, I know it won't feel the same as if I was controlling say Arturo Vidal. In FIFA, the only noticeable difference from a player to another is their speed attribute.
When you play most top teams in PES they have a gameplan that looks authentic. Barça will be playing short passes to the ground or Juventus Turin will use long balls etc.
PES is not a perfect game. It's less polished than FIFA, it doesn't have many licenses, it's poorly supported by Konami. But still, the fact that it's a bit rough around the edges makes it more fun. Actually I love the fact that I can edit the game as much as I want.
My biggest gripe with FIFA is that they keep piling up licenses without really treating them well. Several top european clubs have way too many players with generic faces (Benfica, Porto, Sporting, Galatasaray, Besiktas, Fenerbahce, several Italin teams etc.). EA Sports chose to focus on English leagues which is fine, but if you're not that into the Premier League or to a lesser degree the Bundesliga, the game feels a bit like a rip-off.Comment

It's a goal fest, plain and simple, and it eventually takes away from the joy of scoring great goals, because there's literally a goal scored about every 2-3 minutes of real time. The shooting is overpowered, the keepers are sub par, and CPU defenders are never aggressive, hence the complete lack of fouls and the ridiculous amounts of space you have to work with.
I play 15 minute games and I've literally never had a game finish 0-0......never. I love the feel of PES, always have, but I feel the scoring is more out of control than ever this year.Comment

Why does everyone make this conversations about PES or FIFA about each other.
My orignal post doesn't mention FIFA.
It's all about PES.
"A rainy Tuesday night in Stoke" is a famous quote. Often used to judge the quality of a player... For example - "yeah he can score 60 goals in 40 games in la liga but can he do it on a rainy Tuesday night in Stoke" pundits use it, fans in pubs use it.... I was using it to highlight the fact that people keep saying "Barca play like Barca in PES" but for me the lesser teams don't play like lesser teams they still play like a team with worse stats.
I am a avid watcher of the Premier league and the beauty of that league is that is not predictable. Even if the top four has become a little predictable come the end of the season everything else is very hard to predict.
FIFAs shortcomings have nothing to do with PES.
My issue with lack of depth of modes/realism/licenses and options off the pitch is only part of the issue. The fact that it no way replicates football like many claim is.
It's cool. I think if others enjoy it. Superb. I enjoy plenty of games that others hate. I even liked last years NHL.
My point still stands the "teams play really different" thing I don't think gets anywhere near real life.
One season exhibition modes don't do it for me. I like to pick a team and manage them like I would in real life (badly mostly) that Pompey back to the glory days... Signing over priced players that refuse to leave....Comment

Re: PES 2016 and the Idea of Unmitigated Joy
Agree with this sentiment. PES 2016 is the most overrated game I've ever played, with the possible exception of the old 2k football games way back when. Gameplay isn't that good and the support and attention to detail is the worst of any sports game out there. They still don't have the transfer deadline rosters correct.Comment

Il start taking PES seriously, when you have to earn your space on the pitch, depending on which player your controlling, cos at the moment that's non existent, and also they need to fix the defensive AI which is still broken, cause you can control any player in the game and once you find a running lane whilst timing your sprint bursts, which is usually a diagonal run, the Defensive AI just runs along with you, and cos of this, it has completely ruined my experience with this years game, if they dont fix this as well as high shot variation and fouls from AI, it tells me they are catering for a more casual audience, and I have a bad feeling that's where there heading,Comment
