Is anyone else having trouble driving in???
It doesn't seem to matter who I'm using or what dribble moves I perform, I just can't seem to beat my defender off the dribble. Pick and roll barely works either. Anyone else having trouble driving in?MLB: Miami Marlins
NFL: Miami Dolphins
NBA: Miami Heat
NCAA: Florida State Seminoles
NHL: Florida PanthersTags: None -

It's more difficult to drive, yes, but you just have to change your strategy. The give and go is quite consistent.Comment

Re: Is anyone else having trouble driving in???
Fast break euro steps when the defender hasn't turned their hips to the opposite way they are running are lovely.
Hop steps when you have the defender slightly beat and on your hip will yield good results as well. Intertwine some fakes on hop step drives if you have an over aggressive defender and draw the foul
Truth be told, I wish the spin drive wasn't as dumbed down as they made it for patch 3. If the upped the effectiveness a LITTLE bit I wouldn't be opposed to it.Comment

Use them sparingly and in open space. If you attempt to spam those moves, especially in traffic, your success will be abysmal.

If I have the defender beat the hop step will slow me down and give the defender an opportunity to catch up; I only use it if they are slightly beat and still on my hip baiting me into a block.Comment

I play strictly offline so it may be a different experience for you and I. However if you beat a defender have you tried to just laying the ball up with your left or right hand away from the defender instead of hop stepping?

Re: Is anyone else having trouble driving in???
Nah I'm to slow to go straight up I'll get block. I use the hop step to bait the defender into jumping . Usually he jumps early and lands on my back no foul call and I'll lose the ball. Or I blow by him and a "ghost rips" me . When I do go up instead of hop stepping it's so slow that the 7'3 centers who have max defense and athleticism block me . Most times I just past out honestly .
Even so, the strips in the paint can be excessive at times so I feel youComment

Its the lag. My game is usually the one with the delay and even my animations don't match up to what's happening. I'll have wide open lane and then this glitch happens where the game refreshes and either I miss or it gets blocked. I don't know if it's my monitor or the connection that causes it.
But yeah sometimes i have trouble getting past defenders even with the quicker player. During fast breaks holding turbo I can feel that the player isn't running full speed.

Re: Is anyone else having trouble driving in???
Assuming you're talking about getting past the CPU...
I think the biggest thing they added in patch 3 is making the defender have to respect your moves and not 'glitching' into place when they're beat. A lot of time they will turn their body or shade in anticipation and you can do a quick cross the other way...just have to keep an eye out for it.
Best advice I can give is to not get too happy with the dribble stick...it will just frustrate you and use up your energy. A lot of the 'hitching' and 'stopping' guys see is from putting too many inputs in at one time. Keep it simple. I find the best crosses vs. the CPU are when you back up for a little space, accelerate and just doing a quick move with the stick.Comment

agree with 24.
tap the left stick to bait the defender. its very effective. tap the right stick to change direction (to nonball hand) just before the defender 'body' u up.
i love the hop step and 2k make it easy to use this year. it gives me an edge to get to the rim a step faster than the defender.
it works for me in offline myleague.Comment
