No kidding. This could not have been more perfectly scripted.

The "hiring" of my defensive coordinator who coaches in real life at Georgia Tech, Georgia Tech stealing my recruits this off-season, Georgia being an already established pipeline state of mine, Georgia Tech and Tulane both being former conference rivals in the SEC for 30 years, us upsetting Georgia Tech at the end of the year, and now this.

This has got to be one of the more intriguing side-storylines this video game series has ever provided for me.

It certainly looks like that would be a good route to take with this naturally evolving plot. How can I not schedule this team after all of this?!

This is what I am using to make my future schedules: Tulane Green Wave Football Future Schedules

Interesting enough, Tulane has a future 4-game contract with Georgia Tech in real life starting in 2014. This is some Twilight Zone stuff!

Yeah I don't know if I have ever seen that before in college football. I was stunned when I saw the bowl matchup screen pop up.

I was projected to play in the Music City Bowl versus Bowling Green and then against Minnesota going into Conference Championship Week. Glad it turned out this way though.

Yep...Crazy stuff. It'll be difficult to beat the same ranked team two times in a row.

As Mike pointed out, it is very interesting that Lee and Herbie both have picked us to win though.

Yeah...Pretty disappointing stuff. How things like this get past months and months of testing is beyond my comprehension.

Thanks man. Yeah this is definitely a first.

If we can pull off a second upset in a row, it will go a long way in recruiting in the off-season and would give us a TON of momentum going into next season.

TOP: Georgia Tech QB Tevin Washington successfully completes an option pitch to RB Roddy Jones in which the redshirt senior turned into a 46-yard touchdown to make the score 13-0 early in the second quarter. BOTTOM: Tulane freshman QB Curtis Byrd gets sacked in the end zone by Georgia Tech freshman DE Anthony Williams for a second quarter safety that made the score 15-0.

20th ranked Yellow Jackets sting Green Wave 25-17 in rain-soaked Champs Sports Bowl | QB Byrd's 3 interceptions thrown to Georgia Tech's Johnson dooms Tulane in rematch of regular season finale | Team finishes 2011 season 8-5

Orlando, FL -- The Tulane Green Wave, playing in their first bowl game since the 2002 season, fell to #20 Georgia Tech 25-17 Thursday night in a rainy & muddy Champs Sports Bowl. The Yellow Jackets never trailed the Green Wave, controlling the game with their option running attack on their way to avenging their 27-20 upset loss to Tulane in both teams' regular season finale one month ago.

The game got off to a rough start for the Green Wave, falling behind 15-0 early in the second quarter. PK Ryan Rome's 19-yard field goal as the first half clock expired put the team on the board and made the score 15-3 going into halftime.

Tulane would pull to within an 8-point deficit early in the fourth quarter when OLB Kerchal Byrd intercepted an errant pass by Yellow Jackets QB Tevin Washington and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown that made the score 18-10. The one score deficit was short lived however.

Washington directed a 9-play drive on Georgia Tech's next possession. The series concluded with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Washington to WR Kevin Blanco that made the score 25-10 with 2:56 remaining.

"We finally got some things going there in the fourth quarter but their offense did a heck of a job responding," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

""Unlike the first game, they took a few more shots down the field and took advantage of our game plan to keep 8 in the box.""

Tulane would pull back into within an eight point deficit very quickly. A 46-yard pass completion from QB Curtis Byrd to WR D.J. Banks set them up in the red zone and RB Orleans Darkwa's 3-yard touchdown run made the score 25-17 with 2:15 to play.

Byrd, a freshman, had a particularly rough night, going just 7 of 12 for 108 yards while throwing three interceptions. All three interceptions were made by Georgia Tech FS Isaiah Johnson.

"Really when you look back at it, that was the difference in the game," said Geezy.

The Green Wave would force a punt with 0:33 remaining and got the football back at their own 15 but without any timeouts. They advanced the ball to their own 28-yard line however the hail mary pass thrown by QB Ryan Griffin, subbing in on the game's final play due to his greater arm power than Byrd, fell harmlessley to the turf and ended the game.

"The rainy conditions today I thought played a big role in our inability to get anything going in the pass game," said Geezy.

"We tried to get the running game going all day but they basically sold out against the run and we could not counter with our passing attack."

Tulane ends the 2011 season, their second under Geezy, with an 8-5 record.

          * Editors Note: So yeah, apparently some sort of referee strike, natural disaster, or terrorist attack happens in December of 2011 resulting in the first few games of the 2011 bowl season to not take place (The game would not allow the first six bowl match-ups to get simmed for some reason).

No doubt about it...He picked the wrong game to play poorly. Hopefully he progresses well; I must admit that there is a small part of me that wants to go back to Ryan Griffin, who will be going into his senior year, next season.

Yeah I never seen that happen before...weird stuff! I simmed all the bowls, the screen came up where they asked me if I wanted to take another job or sign an extension, I did what I decided to do then afterwards went back to look at the scores from the bowl game and voila.... These six games were not played and the game would not give me the option to sim them, they'd only allow me to advance to the off-season.

Still going 8-5 with a very raw QB is still a pretty good season......can't wait to see how much Byrd progresses, training wheels come off next year

and WTH was up with that bowl games nonsense......EA smh
I will probably go with Byrd but let's just say he's on the hotseat next year if he comes out throwing passes directly to the other team again. I will not hesitate to go with the senior and 2010 starter Ryan Griffin.

Yeah I am really hoping that this season spring-boards us to more success in recruiting. I doubt we'll see much of a difference this particular off-season, but next season's recruiting should be at a whole new level!

Looking forward to seeing how recruiting goes. Good luck! Don't let GT steal too many recruits
I actually think Darkwa will be better than Williams. He was rated just 2 points below Williams and has a full two seasons to go.

You best believe that I will be taking a look at who Georgia Tech is going after and will try to nab a guy or two from their list.

Tulane Green Wave Graduating Class of 2011

TOP: One of the signature moments of Tulane RB Albert Williams' amazing career came in game 10 of the 2011 season. With his team trailing 10-7 with just 0:14 to go, Williams' 10-yard touchdown run provided the game-winning points in a 14-10 win over ECU to clinch bowl eligibility for the Green Wave. BOTTOM: The signature play of Tulane starting CB Taylor Echols career came in week two of the 2011 regular season versus UL-Lafayette when the senior picked off this option pitch and returned it 21 yards for a touchdown that gave his team an early 17-0 lead. The team went on to defeat the Ragin' Cajuns 30-20 to improve to 2-0.

Hopkins made 7 tackles last season in limited action for the Crimson Tide and is said to be disappointed in the number of snaps he played for the school last year as a freshman.

What kind of D do you run? Come next season, that's a whole lot of talent at nose tackle to anchor a 4-3.
I use the Multiple D playbook. As far as base defensive calls, I'd say I go 4-3 65-70% of the time and 3-4 the rest of the time. As I acquire better talent that fits the 3-4, we'll slowly shift towards it more.

We should be good up the middle for the next three years with last year's transfer McCloud for one year and then next year with Hopkins for two seasons.

Always good to get a Bama player. I think these DT transfers are quietly the story of the off-season. This will help out our run defense big time and hopefully will allow me to not have to play 8 in the box as often.

SOURCE: TULANE POLITICKING BEHIND THE SCENES FOR RETURN TO SEC
A former SEC charter member, Green Wave voluntarily terminated 32 year affiliation with conference for academic reasons in 1965 | SEC officials reportedly studying improving overall academic reputation of its conference

                        By Gene Wojciechowski, ESPN.com

Citing a high-ranking anonymous source close to Tulane University, the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that the university is in discussions with the Southeastern Athletic Conference involving a return to the conference by the Green Wave. Tulane, who were charter members of the SEC and resided there from 1933 to 1965, has done feasibility studies and are interested in returning to the BCS conference ""within the next 2 to 4 seasons,"" according to the source.

"The university is making it very clear to SEC officials the benefits of a return to the conference," said the source.

"They're really hammering it home that this is an opportunity for the conference to improve its academic perceptions while also creating more of a presence in one of our nation's most unique cities, New Orleans."

The SEC currently holds 12 members. Due to ongoing litigation between the NCAA and the BCS, the conference must remain at 12 teams for at the very least, the next three seasons. This means that for Tulane to enter the conference, one team will have to be dropped.

"Tulane is targeting 2 to 3 programs in their pursuit of re-joining the conference," said the source.

"The ones they have their eye on replacing are the ones that have low academic standings."

The Green Wave were members of the original SEC conference from 1933 to 1965. The school left the conference due to the university's feeling that athletics were overshadowing academics. Tulane won three SEC titles during this time: 1934, 1939, and 1949. The school's rivalry with LSU links directly back to the time they spent together in the SEC.

Established in 1893, the school's football team is a member of Conference USA (1996 to present) and was a NCAA Division I-A Independent from 1966 to 1995.

                        --------------------------------------------------------------------

Tulane is rated 50th in the nation in academics according to US News and World Report Rankings. To put that into perspective, here are the rankings of the current 12 members of the SEC:

Tulane | New look in 2012
                            Mon, 9 Jan 2012 7:11:49 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that the Tulane Green Wave football team will be unveiling a new look this fall, ditching their green helmets for white helmets. ""This change in uniform is our first major change since the mid 90's and to be honest I think we're overdue," said Green Wave head coach D. Geezy. ""I think this is a cleaner, sharper look and our players are certainly excited about it."

The team also announced that they have officially decided to make their ""white jersey, green pants"" combination their official home uniform. The team will wear all white on the road and will only wear their green uniforms in the event that a road opponent, such as LSU, decides to wear white.
