No doubt that it is already the best in school history. I can't wait to use Manning and Andrews especially. This class is stacked with studs. Even the 3-star and 2-star guys are ballers.

The best tip I could give is to scout and scout well and know when to give up on a player. It also doesn't hurt to have Texas and Louisiana as pipelines and to be in the SEC. haha

I'm actually quite surprised at the success I am having in recruiting on Heisman level. I guess kids want to spend their college years on Bourbon Street.

Looking forward to your matchup with my alma mater - South Florida. I suspect that you will likely dispose of them as you did Florida. You have a great team this year and I think this may be the year that coach DeeGeezy hangs a banner.
They were actually 2-2 coming into the game (In my game reports, I like to put the teams' post-game records, like they do on TV).

USF could pose some problems with their style of play (the spread). I'm not taking them lightly. Plus we owe them a little something for stealing the final BCS slot from us last year. It should be a fun game. We've won 10 straight at home so we need to keep that streak intact!

I'm not ready to declare us national title contenders just yet. We have a bunch of good teams left on our schedule. Right now, the goal is winning the SEC West. I hate to not sound optimistic, but I know things are going to get tougher here down the stretch.

Now give the players the week off for their solid play!
Yeah we starting to blitz a lot more on defense and that seemed to give their freshman QB fits. We also did a good job of sustaining long drives, keeping their great offense on the sideline.

I can't say enough about Harris. He may be a 3 or 4 year Thorpe winner with the way he is playing!

A Changing of the Guard | The New Era of Louisiana Football

Tulane has had many great players help reshape the program (HB Reggie Moore, QB Anthony High, and OLB Mark Richards)

cheese2121 | Guest Columnist from A Slice Off the Old Block

        catalyst
        -noun
-a person or thing that precipitates an event or change

It was not so long ago that when talking about football in the state of Louisiana, LSU was the name that came to mind. Whether it was the championship teams under Nick Saban or the teams of more recent who were still guaranteed a top twenty-five finish and a decent bowl game, the perennial SEC powerhouse has always been among the greats of college football. And then there was Tulane, the redheaded stepchild of Louisiana who was drudging out one mediocre season after another as a middle of the road Conference-USA team. Things seemed in an endless loop. The strong stayed strong, while the weak stayed weak. Such is the way of college football that many of us have grown accustomed to. There is no rebalance of power like in the NFL, no draft at year’s end to level the playing field. What does a weak school do to escape this vicious cycle? They find themselves a catalyst.

Then Tulane got its catalyst: the arrival of head coach Deegeezy. Within just a couple seasons conference titles were suddenly attainable and big time recruits from the state were at least beginning to consider the idea of coming to New Orleans. Rumors began to swirl about a possible return to the SEC. The change continued to spread, every year a progression from the previous. Here we are six seasons after the arrival of coach Deegeezy and Tulane is leading the SEC race. I didn’t think the day would come I would even mention Tulane in the same breath as an SEC leader. Tulane, who just weeks ago blew out LSU, looks primed to usurp more than just LSU in the SEC. How far this team will go is unwritten, but it is no longer a stretch to say that within a few seasons or perhaps even next, we will be talking about Tulane as a serious national title contender.

It is just not on the field where change has spread throughout the Tulane program but off the field as well. A program that was use to recruiting one or two star level recruits finds itself six years later among the top, having already received formal commitments from three of the nations blue chip prospects.

While most of the success both on and off the field can be contributed to head coach Deegeezy, new players buying into the program and bringing a winning mentality to the organization has been part of the catalyst. Players like Curtis Byrd, Anthony High, and of course hometown hero Reggie Moore have helped Tulane become a place where winning is no longer a pleasant surprise but an expectation. Perhaps that is hardest part about turning a program around, it is not finding the players or the coaching staff, but finding the will, the mindset, the belief. It is not often in college football that we get to witness a new era of a program. It seems the Alabama’s and USC’s will always be great and the Duke’s will always be mediocre. This is no longer true in Louisiana. When looking for the state’s best team, our eyes no longer fall on Baton Rouge but instead on the city of New Orleans. The New Orleans Superdome is now a place where teams fear to travel with Tulane having won ten straight. Now we will have to wait and see just how long our gaze can rest there.

QB ANTHONY HIGH CONTINUES TO SHRED DEFENSES AS TULANE ROLLS PAST OVERMATCHED USF 42-21

Junior quarterback has another prolific outing, throwing for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns as Wave improves to 7-0 | After falling behind 14-7 in the second quarter, team scores 35 straight points to win its 11th straight at the suddenly feared Superdome | The team that kept Tulane out of the BCS last season had no answer for Green Wave's high-flying offense | Wave set to travel to face 1-5 Kentucky next week

New Orleans, LA -- The 5th ranked Tulane Green Wave fell behind 14-7 in the first half but then went on a 35-7 scoring run the remainder of the way, blasting through the South Florida Bulls 42-21 Saturday night at the Louisiana Superdome. Tulane's offense accumulated over 500 yards and QB Anthony High went over 300 passing yards for the second straight week as the Green Wave continued its stunning start to the 2015 season.

High, a junior in his first full season as a starter, went 26 of 35 for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns and also added a rushing touchdown. The former 3-star recruit from Texas is beginning to garner Heisman attention, as he has now thrown for 1,717 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing only 4 interceptions. His 172.9 passer rating is third in the nation and he is tied for 5th in touchdowns.

Once again, TE Joel Bowers was High's main benefactor, hauling in 7 receptions for 115 yards on the night. It was Bowers' fifth 100-yard receiving day of the season and he leads all tight ends in the nation with 35 receptions for 694 yards this season.

Green Wave FB Simon Parker's 2-yard touchdown run with 0:39 remaining in the second quarter gave Tulane a 21-14 lead going into the halftime locker room.

RB Anthony Barnett continued to shine in injured RB Reggie Moore's absence, rushing for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 10 carries. Barnett's 51-yard touchdown run on the opening possession of the third quarter extended Tulane's lead to 28-14.

High would throw two more touchdown passes in the quarter - A 7-yard toss to Parker and a matching 7-yard scoring hook-up with TE Justin Thomas. The two scores extended Tulane's advantage to 42-14.

USF QB Russ Holt, despite solid numbers (276 passing yards, 2 touchdowns), was harrassed all game by the Tulane defense, getting sacked 3 times. Freshman DE A.J. Haynes recorded two sacks during the game.

South Florida (1-5) knew coming in that the Green Wave had revenge on their minds. Last season, the then 11-1 Bulls bested Tulane by .006 points in the final 2014 BCS Standings, winning the final At-Large BCS berth over then 10-2 Green Wave.

Tulane (7-0, 4-0) will travel to face Kentucky (1-5, 0-3) next week. The Green Wave defeated the Wildcats last year when then-freshman PK Cody Bennett nailed a 21-yard field goal as time expired to give Tulane the 45-42 victory at the Louisiana Superdome. The two teams also played a thriller in the 2012 Liberty Bowl in which the Green Wave won 52-46 in double overtime.

Tulane | 5-star WR McNeil in the fold
                        Wed, 21 Oct 2015 7:30:49 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that the Tulane Green Wave received a hard commitment from 5-star WR Brandon McNeil (6-3, 202 pounds, North Dakota, #2 WR prospect) this week.

McNeil (4.26 40 time, C CTH, B SPC) had visited Tulane's campus during the weekend of of the team's big 45-7 victory over rival LSU and had given the Green Wave a soft verbal just one week ago.

McNeil is likely to immediately step into the role of #1 receiver with Tulane and early playing time and playing in the SEC were his top two priorities according to sources close to McNeil.

"This signing really gives us some more explosiveness on offense," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

"We continue to add speed and big play ability on both sides of the ball. Playing in a dome, we think it is important to take advantage of our fast track and continue to build our identity as a explosive team with a lot of vertical speed."

Geezy also announced that McNeil is all but certain to be the team's final prospect commitment of this season, wrapping up what is easily the best recruiting class in Green Wave football history.

It has been a pretty surprising year. I thought we would be good, but not dominant. Our offensive speed really shows during the games. We've become a big play offense that passes the ball very efficiently. We have a lot of interchangeable parts. You never know WHO is going to be the one that has the big game from week to week.

Bowers is having a hell of a season! 694 yards in only 7 games for a college tight end!?!?! IF you had a Madden 'chise he would have to be a target for your NFL team. Along with Barnett stepping up and High performing at the level he is...I don't know if anyone can stop the Green Wave.

Congrats on the commit of McNeil too. He's going to add more explosiveness to your passing game. Balance is the key and you have it at all positions this season my friend.
I am very excited about the acquisition of McNeil. I see us starting to gravitate more into a passing team in the coming years, especially with a QB with a cannon like Manning.

We will still run the ball, but don't be surprised to see Tulane become a 35+ per game pass team in the near future.

Thanks man...There ain't no question about it for me; This dynasty is already my personal favorite of all the ones I have done.

Barnett really is ballin' that's for sure. He and Moore are very similar play Barnett recently got the ""impact player"" tag so now he is even better. We are definitely stacked at running back and next year Alabama transfer and former blue chip RB Brett Curtis will be eligible for us so we're going to be deep there for years to come.

I really am looking forward to that game. We need to take care of business versus Kentucky first. We've played some tight games with them over the years and they blew us out 41-7 at the dome two years ago so we're not going to take this game for granted.

You're right though, that Bama game is going to be epic. It's too bad my boy Reggie Moore won't be playing in it though.

I can't say enough about High. With 20 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions, he has been by far the most productive QB I have had in this dynasty. He is very efficient as a passer and the offense is beginning to evolve with him at the helm. Heck, if he keeps playing like this, there may not even be a senior season for High.

The prospects you've been reeling in have been sick
Same here on the 2016 season. I really thought that would be the year we dominate; Looks like we're a year ahead of schedule. We're not super great on paper in terms of overall ratings, but the speed we've assembled is amazing. We have a very young team too (only 4 seniors starting - FB, C, MLB, and CB) so that sort of skews our overall ratings as well since our guys have low AWR and PRC ratings.

We're in position to become a college football powerhouse here over the next few seasons. I think I still have another 4 or 5 seasons left in me.

I know man...I can't wait to get that one going. They're the 5-time defending SEC champion, 6 times if you count real life. They are in somewhat of a down year but if we can knock them off, it would really symbolize a coronation of sorts.

First things first though - We have a tough road game to take care of against a Kentucky team in which we needed to score on the last play of the game to beat them 2 of the last 3 meetings.

I think our ratings are a product of being a young team. We have only 4 seniors that are starting for us: C, MLB, FB, CB.

There are a lot of young players that will end up in the high 80s/low 90s when it is all said and done and their AWR and PRC ratings get boosts the next couple of off-seasons.

A lot of our guys have average overalls, but when you look at their actual physical attributes, you see that they're very good players.

Also keep in mind, they have an A+ coach. edo:

Heh....Good point. You're going to see us start to become more of a passing team here in the next couple of years. I am excited to use my new QB Manning two years from now.

I will probably be upping the Rush Defense slider after this year to about 75. It's been too easy throughout the course of this dynasty to run the ball with average personnel. With our personnel improving, I need to adjust my settings.

Glad I could help...I think our C rating is somewhat of a mirage though. My team's overall rating is somewhat of a mirage though. We have a lot of young players starting that will be rated very high in a couple of years. Their ratings are low probably due to low AWR, which from what I understand, has no effect on user played games.

We have only 4 seniors starting so you'll see our grades go up pretty significantly next year I think, especially with some of the new blue chip guys coming in.

#2 Tulane blasts through Kentucky 48-28 but loses QB Anthony High for next week's colossal matchup with six-time defending SEC champion Alabama | Star quarterback suffers torn pectoral muscle, the same injury ailing RB Reggie Moore though not as severe | Back-up QB Chris Moore shines in High's absence, tossing 5 touchdown passes versus Kentucky's overwhelmed secondary

Lexington, KY -- Tulane lost red hot starting QB Anthony High on just the second play of the game but back-up QB Chris Moore picked up the slack, leading the 2nd ranked Green Wave to a 48-28 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday afternoon on the road. High (87spd, 81thp, 74tha) was injured following a rare interception thrown, to Kentucky SS Steve Moore, suffering a torn pectoral when attempting to make the tackle. The injury will keep him off the field at least one week according to Tulane head coach D. Geezy. High was the nation's third rated passer coming into Saturday's game.

QB Chris Moore, a redshirt junior playing the first meaningful extended action of his career, played lights out though and finished 16 of 27 for 367 yards while throwing 5 touchdowns. A team captain despite not throwing a pass coming into this season, Moore finished the day with a gaudy 227.1 passer rating, shredding through Kentucky's porous pass defense, which ranked 86th in the nation coming into the game. Moore (68spd, 76thp, 76tha) had only attempted four passes coming into this game, all in mop-up duty earlier this season.

"We knew we had some advantages in the passing game and while we were disappointed that High could not come back in, we knew that Chris could be just as effective," said Geezy.

"Quite honestly, Chris is just as good of a passer as High is if not better in some ways. He is a little more accurate than High is but he is nowhere near as great on his feet though and I think that showed in our uncharacteristically high sack number" (Moore was sacked four times, a season high for Tulane's offense).

"With that said though, Chris is a guy that teammates respect, being voted as a team captain before the year, and we think he can keep the ship going in the right direction."

The Green Wave offense had no problems moving the football and finished the day with 518 total yards, the third consecutive game that the team has gained over 500 yards of offense. Tulane did not punt the ball once and their 28-point third quarter, which featured 3 touchdown passes by Moore, was the highest single-quarter point total by Tulane under Geezy.

Moore's lone mistake of the game was an interception in which he was hit as he threw and the ball landed into the hands of Kentucky DE Austin Williams at about the Wildcats' 40-yard line after the team had embarked on a 12-play drive midway through the fourth quarter in an attempt to run out the clock. The sting was negated however as junior OT Anthony Jones would run Williams down and forced him to fumble at the Tulane 8-yard line and recovered it, turning the ball back over to Tulane and enabling them to run out the remainder of the fourth quarter with another 12-play drive.

Kentucky (1-6, 0-4) moved the ball well but in the end, did not have the firepower to keep up with the Green Wave's offense, which came into the game ranked 2nd in the nation in points per game (41.5 ppg). Wildcats QB Kenny Hollins had an impressive performance, going 16 of 23 for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns, but in the end it was not nearly enough to keep up with the high-flying offense of Tulane.

The Green Wave (8-0, 5-0) will now turn its full attention to its SEC clash versus #9 Alabama (5-2, 3-2) next week at the Louisiana Superdome. The Crimson Tide blew out Tulane 51-17 last season at Tuscaloosa behind the arm of now-graduated Heisman Trophy winning QB Josh Hunter's school-record 6 touchdown passes, a record accomplished by what many believe was a blatant case of running up the scoreboard and is still fresh in the mind of Geezy. Alabama has won six consecutive SEC championships, dating back to the 2009 season.

Even without High, the team will be up to the challenge.

"We're preparing for this game with a similar game plan that we would have if Anthony was available," said Geezy.

"I think we'll lean on our supporting cast a lot more and less on Chris because let's face it, he won't be facing Kentucky's secondary next week. I'd be saying the same thing if Anthony was healthy.

"Next week will be about execution, controlling the clock, and not making mistakes. Don't let Alabama's two losses fool you, they are still a dangerous team. And also don't think that we haven't forgotten what went on in the fourth quarter of the game when they were still heaving bombs while up by 4 or 5 scores on us."

Like Tulane, Alabama will also be without its starting quarterback and running back. Crimson Tide junior QB Jake Parsons (84) injured his groin during the team's 28-3 home victory over Wyoming last week and redshirt junior QB Steven Reese (81 overall) will start in his place. The Tide will also be without starting RB Jason Fisher (91), who has been out since week 5 with a broken tailbone. Sophomore Jason Moore (89) will start in his place.

Notes: Geezy indicated in his post game press conference that High's torn pectoral muscle injury is in no way as severe as starting RB Reggie Moore's, who has missed the team's last four games. High is expected to return for the team's game at Arkansas in three weeks following the Alabama game and a BYE week. Moore is also set to return for that game, which many believe will end up being for the SEC West crown.
