Sorry - I had an omission in there. They did beat now-17th ranked North Carolina. Still though, they seem to struggle against the good teams they have played. It should be a fun battle and hopefully that trend you pointed out holds true.

Also of note, they've lost five straight bowl games during this dynasty, starting with year 1.

They seem to be very balanced on offense, just looking at their ratings. We'll have to try to get an early lead and force them to abandon the run with Collier. There are some matchups in the secondary, specifically their slow nickle and dime corners and slow strong safety, that I want to try to exploit; I feel good about this game and our ability to attack the seam. Look for a big game from both tight ends, Bowers and Thomas.

Thanks Cheese...I feel very good about the matchup, especially with the game being played in the friendly confines of the Superdome. I have a goal of getting the Dome on the ""Tougest Places to Play"" list. This game probably won't count towards our 13 game home win streak, but it will feel good to continue our home dominance in the Sugar Bowl.

Interestingly, I am technically the road team in this game. If this were real life, it sure would feel weird having to use the visiting team's locker room and stand on the visitor's sideline.

Moore is well overdue for a monster, 300+ all-purpose yard type game. He's missed a bunch of games this year and 2015 has more or less been a disappointment for him. He seems to be heating up with some solid 100-yard games lately, but we're still waiting for that signature 125+ rushing yard/80+ receiving yard/kick return touchdown game this season that we grew accustomed to during his freshman year.

This will actually be the first time since his injury that he'll be 100% (he's been listed as ""questionable"" and ""probable"" since his return).

Interestingly, I am actually a ""lame duck"" coach this year; I don't have a contract beyond this season. Something tells me I have a good 4 or 5 year extension waiting for me at the end of the season though. If this were real life, I don't think getting anymore negotiating leverage would even be possible (I'd be asking to be made the highest paid coach in the SEC! haha)

We'll see how it shakes out but you're right, I am obviously staying at Tulane for the long haul, though this next contract will probably be my last.

                #3 38 -- 13-1
                #8 21 -- 10-3

Tulane's defense set the tone by forcing turnovers on each of Virginia Tech's first two possessions. On the Hokies' second possession, FS Dre Harris intercepted Virginia Tech QB Tony Moore's ill-advised option pitch and returned it 26 yards for a touchdown which gave the Green Wave a commanding 14-0 advantage less than two minutes into the game.

                DOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE

#3 Tulane storms out to an early 17-0 lead, cruises to a 38-21 Sugar Bowl victory over #8 Virginia Tech | Hokies unable to recover after turning the ball over on their first two possessions | Green Wave's 14th straight victory at the Superdome gives them their first ever BCS bowl win | Tulane's historic victory also gives them a school record 13 wins on the season

New Orleans, LA -- Third ranked Tulane became the first team ever to win a BCS bowl game in the same stadium in which they played all of its regular season home games, ousting #8 Virginia Tech 38-21 Sunday evening in the Allstate Sugar Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome. The Green Wave scored the game's first 17 points and was able to hold on in the second half on the way to winning their 14th straight game at the Superdome.

Virginia Tech turned the ball over on the very first play from scrimmage when Wave DT Myron Dawson stripped Hokies QB Tony Moore as he went to the ground on an option-keeper and DE A.J. Hanyes recovered at the Virginia Tech 28-yard line. Just two plays later, Tulane QB Anthony High found freshman WR Herbie Smith wide open for a 28-yard touchdown to give the Wave a quick 7-0 lead, just 0:32 into the game.

On the Hokies' next series, disaster would strike again. This time, on the second play of their ensuing possession, Moore threw an errant option pitch which was caught in the air by Tulane FS Dre Harris. The freshman 4-star recruit from last off-season would return it 26 yards for a touchdown to extend the Green Wave's lead to 14-0. It was Harris' team-record 4th defensive touchdown on the year and also his 9th forced turnover of the season.

The Green Wave would later add a 49-yard field goal by PK Cody Bennett, extending their early lead to 17-0.

"We felt that it was important to get out to a fast start and to try to take their strong rushing offense out of the game," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

The Hokies (10-3) were unphased by the early 17-point deficit however. Moore would complete an 11-yard touchdown pass to WR Andy Carter to make it 17-7. Two possessions later, star RB Justin Collier broke loose for a 48-yard touchdown to pull Virginia Tech within three at 17-14 in the second quarter. Collier's long scoring run came following a botched fake field goal by the Green Wave which resulted in an interception thrown in the end zone by back-up QB Chris Moore.

Tulane (13-1) would answer Collier's score however by going on a 12-play 80-yard drive which took up 3:05. High's 8-yard touchdown pass to WR Gerald Alexander concluded the drive, and pushed the Green Wave's lead back to ten at 24-14 with just 0:14 to go in the half.

""That was possibly the most pivotal sequence of the game,"" said Geezy.

"That score gave us some cushion and allowed us to regain momentum headed into the break."

The two teams would both go scoreless in the third quarter however Tulane was able to mount a long drive that started in the third quarter and culiminated with an 8-yard touchdown pass from High to WR Bobby Carpenter which pushed their team's lead to 31-14 with 7:08 remaining in the contest. The scoring toss concluded a 15-play 84-yard drive which took up 4:52.

After allowing Virginia Tech one more touchdown, on a deep pass from Moore to WR Darrell Grimes from 48 yards away to make the score 31-21, Tulane would go for the kill on their next drive. High's 22-yard touchdown pass to RB Anthony Barnett made the score 38-21, putting the game away with 4:13 left. It was High's fourth touchdown of the game and he finished 20 of 33 for 300 yards though he did throw an uncharacteristic season-high 3 interceptions. His favorite target on the evening was senior WR Isaiah Smith. Smith, playing in his final game with the Wave, hauled in a career-high 9 receptions for 131 yards.

Tulane's defense, which forced four turnovers on the day, was led by Harris' 9 tackles. Junior OLB Mark Richards, possibly playing in his final collegiate game, had the team's lone sack, which came in the fourth quarter. It was Richards' 25th sack of his career, a school record, and also gave him a career-high 12 on the season.

The win was Tulane's 13th of the season, a school record, surpassing the 12-win season during the team's undefeated 1998 campaign. The Green Wave became the first school since the 1998 UCLA Bruins to host its own BCS game, though the Bruins lost to Wisconsin 38-31 in their Rose Bowl matchup, making Tulane the only school to win a BCS game at their home stadium. With the win, the Green Wave have now won 14 consecutive games played at the Superdome.

"Our homefield advantage is one of the greatest and most unique in all of college football," said Geezy.

"The Tulane faithful came out and represented and this felt like another home game."

"We were technically the road team tonight and the NCAA made us use the visiting team locker room and also made us stay in a hotel for the past week like Virginia Tech had to. But at the end of the day, nothing beats home-cookin' and we continued to prove that we're tough to beat in this building."

Notes: Tulane star RB Reggie Moore's injury-riddled 2015 season came to a fitting conclusion, as he was forced to leave the game in the first quarter with a sprained elbow that he sustained on an early punt return. Moore, a sophomore, was only able to start and complete six games this season, finishing the year with only 770 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns, one year after rushing for a team-high 1,208 yards and 11 touchdowns as a freshman. Barnett and RB William Archer each split carries in Moore's absence Sunday night.

Late in the fourth quarter, Tulane QB Anthony High tossed a swing-screen pass to RB Anthony Barnett who raced passed defenders and plowed his way into the end zone for a game-clinching 22-yard touchdown which made the score 38-21 with 4:13 remaining. It was the first touchdown reception of the season for Barnett.

I think that is actually the correct way for it to be logged...as a fumble.

2016 is shaping up to be a great year. With the class we have coming in, a national title is definitely on the radar and within reach the next couple of seasons.

Yep - I think this is the first time I have ever seen Penn State win a title. Out curiousity, I looked up Joe Pa's info and realized that if he stayed until 2015, it would mark 50 years for him. That would be a hell of a way for it to end for him.

Yep...So close. I can just TASTE a national title at this point. 2016 should be a fun year. I'm in no hurry though!

No, no plans. If they were in the SEC then maybe I would; But changing anything on Penn State would really be meaningless in terms of effecting my dynasty. I just figured I'd give ol' Joe Pa some closure.

Yep - Can't believe it has been 6 years already. Starting with game 1 of next season, this will officially mark the longest dynasty I have ever had.

As I said earlier in the thread, this may be my swan song as far as dynasty reports, so I plan to push this one as long as I can, with the goal being 10 seasons. If I am going to go out, I'm going out in a blaze!

Tulane | Geezy signed to 5-year extension
                            Mon, 4 Jan 2016 10:11:49 -0700
Erin Andrews of ESPN reports that just one day after the team's big 38-21 Sugar Bowl victory over Virginia Tech, Tulane head coach D. Geezy has agreed to a new five-year, $22.5 million contract which will keep him with the Green Wave through the 2020 season. The new contract makes him the highest paid head football coach in the Southeastern Conference and easily the highest paid coach in the history of Tulane football. It is his third contract with the Wave.

"Geezy has taken this program in short time to greater heights than ever before and we wanted to reward him. He deserves it," said Tulane athletic director Rick Dickson.

Geezy, who has been with the Green Wave since 2010, has posted a 57-23 career record at Tulane, including a school record 13-win season in 2015. Geezy led the Green Wave to its first ever BCS bowl game win in 2015, as well as the school's first SEC Championship since its return to the conference in 2014 after being out of the conference for 48 seasons.

"There were other suitors but at the end of the day, Tulane is where I wanted to be," said Geezy in a statement released by his publicist.

"As I stated at the time we did the three year extension back in 2012 - I was born and raised here in New Orleans and that goes a long way. In addition to that, we've built something very special here and have a solid nucleus in place to become even better. We just saw one of the greatest coaches in football history in Joe Paterno walk away after a stellar 50-year career at one school. I'm not saying I plan to be here 50 years, or even 20 years for that matter; The point is, I am not a guy that wants to hop around from job to job. I want to continue to build something special here in the city I love and the school I love."

Tulane | Pair of Alabama transfers now eligible
                            Mon, 4 Jan 2016 10:11:49 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that Tulane RB Brett Curtis (80ovr, 84spd, 84btk) and CB Ethan Cantrelle (81ovr, 90spd, 95mcv, 86zcv, 98press) are now immediately eligible for play after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. Both players transferred from Alabama last off-season and are expected to become immediate contributors for the 2015 SEC Champions.

Curtis, 5-11 209 pounds, is a former blue chip recruit by the Crimson Tide and was the nation's #10 overall rated high school prospect in 2014. He will be a redshirt sophomore and have three years of eligibility remaining at Tulane.

Cantrelle, 6-0 213 pounds, was a 4-star recruit by Alabama in 2012. Considered by many observers as a shutdown corner with elite man coverage skills, he will be a redshirt senior and have only one year of eligibility remaining at Tulane.

Looking forward to seeing what you do during the offseason. Good luck!
Our off-season is pretty much already wrapped up. The bulk of our recruiting class is already signed and I haven't recruited since around week 5 or 6 since we ran out of available open roster spots for next season. As you'll see a few posts above, we had a couple more spots unexpectedly open up so I may have to sign another guy or two in the off-season to fill the roster, but for the most part I'm done with recruiting. In some ways, it may take me a minute to remember how to recruit next season, because it feels like it's been THAT long.

Next year will certainly be a significant year for the Green Wave. I can't wait to see the new recruits' ratings to see what we're working with! We have a great class coming in, plus we have the two transfers that are now eligible. It should be another great season on the horizon!

Great season put together by your High and your running back corps. Anxious to see what next season brings. Looks like you have some young, impact, players already on the roster so I wouldn't expect much of a drop-off in overall performance for next season.
Agreed...We have talent across the board now, no excuses. As you can see above though, I advanced to the ""Players Leaving"" menu this morning and had an unexpected surprise which may hinder us moving forward.

With High's departure, I'm suddenly scrambling at the quarterback position. The back-up Chris Moore came in and played decent in some spots this season when High got hurt (the 367-yard 5 touchdown game against Kentucky namely). But he also had moments where he struggled (the Alabama game in which we won 13-10 and could do NOTHING on offense immediately comes to mind, plus at times he struggled during mop-up duty the past couple of years). Also, he is rated at only 71 and I doubt he progresses much.

I have a 4-star freshman named Jamie Manning coming in, but I had plans to redshirt him. So this is certainly an unexpected curveball. I am anxious to see what his ratings are later today when I progress through the off-season. We may have to bite the bullet and play him.

In terms of your next quarterback you may not have the best backup in Moore, but if Jamie Manning turns out to be a tough nut then maybe it might be best for your school to start him next season! I just had a 4-Star quarterback turn out with an 81 overall rating with 84 spd, 90 thp and 83 tha so anything could happen!

His ratings grades are very good (A THP and B THA), plus I already know he has 78 speed based on his 40 time.

At only 6-0 195, he looks to be a Drew Brees type of QB. With him, I may be able to get my vertical game going since it looks like he'll have a cannon for an arm. We'll see!
