I am pretty sure High is looking back on his decision with regret. The speed and talent we have on offense is any quarterback's dream.

Young is indeed a beast. I can't wait to use him. Not to pat myself on the back, but that was all scouting there. There were other 3-star and 4-star fullbacks interested, but I thought he was easily the best of the bunch and it looks like we've been rewarded for not just going off star rating.

Yep...Not sure what he was being fed in North Dakota. What a nightmare for defenses. By his junior year, he may be a Heisman candidate. What a weapon!

        Good luck next season man.
I am really excited to use Manning. I really wanted to redshirt him but even if High had stayed, after seeing this kid's ratings, I don't know how I would have been able to resist the urge of playing him. I did a little bit in practice mode with him, he looks like a Drew Brees' type field general out there. I am not going to hold him back either. We're coming out slinging it.

Look for our offense to become a little bit more vertical this season. We're going to take advantage of that 90 THP rating.

That recruiting class is fap, jesus
I have to say, this is probably the best class I have ever had. Heck, it is probably the best class I have ever ALLOWED myself to have.

It was a very saitsfying feeling seeing how these guys turned out. I scouted VERY hard this season. We had interest coming from players everywhere, but it looks like we picked the correct select few to target.

Agreed man...Though I would have liked to see High in his senior year coming off the 31 TD campaign, you can't help but think that Manning could best that, perhaps even as a freshman.

An interesting note on OLB Larry Branch: He has 90 THP and 77 THA. I won't use him at QB, but that just goes to show you how great of a player he is. Maybe he played both ways in high school?

There are a lot of high school QBs playing other positions in real life.

I think Branch may turn out as good, if not better than Mark Richards was.

That recruiting class is amazing, by the way. I like the way you build; speed, speed, and more speed. Follows my recruiting strategy.
Playing in the dome, and trying to emulate the Saints' aggressive offensive style, getting speed at all positions was critical. Now we have the stud QB to distribute the ball. These next four years should be great.

I have played around with that idea (He is a 75 at WR by the way)...Quite honestly though, we have enough speed on offense. I'm already going to have problems trying to get everyone involved.

I will probably let Andrews concentrate on defense. I may throw him a bone or two in the return game every now and then just to see what he can do. Maybe down the road he'll see time on offense but right now, the need just isn't there.

Tulane | QB Manning officially named week 1 starter
                Sun, 21 Aug 2016 8:11:49 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Time Picayune reports that Tulane head coach D. Geezy has named true freshman QB Jamie Manning as his starting quarterback for the team's week 1 game at Hawai'i. Manning, a 4-star recruit from Decatur, Georgia, will be the second true freshman opening day starter under Geezy, the last one being former Wave QB Curtis Byrd at the start of the 2011 season.

"Jamie has really taken command of this offense and has impressed us with his leadership capabilities," said Geezy.

"He comes with a spread, run & shoot offensive background and he thew the ball a ton in high school, sometimes 50-55 times. He also spent the summer down here working with our receivers and learning the playbook.

"As I stated when we got him, he is matured well beyond his years. He already knows our playbook front and back. He is one of those guys that is very cerebral and picks things up quickly. We won't have to scale back anything offensively because he already understands all of the assignments and concepts and check-offs. I think we're going to be in for a real treat watching this guy's career progress these next few years."

Yeah I definitely was a tad disappointed about starting out at 18 after the year we had. No biggie though. Like last year, we'll just have to prove all the cyber sim-god haters wrong.

I thought about doing this big thing where my defensive coordinator went there and I had to implement a new defense, but with my 10 season mission underway, there ain't no time for that stuff now if I want to get this done.

I thought we'd be in the top 12 at least. A national title is certainly possible, we have two tough road games right there in the middle of our season at SEC and at Alabama. Both teams blew us out and put up 50 burgers on us two seasons ago. The game at #10 Miami won't be a cakewalk either.

Tulane freshman QB Jamie Manning hits RB Reggie Moore on a deep streak pattern and the versatile junior running back flips into the end zone to cap off a 67-yard second quarter touchdown which made the score 17-0. Moore, who was lined up out wide at receiver on the play, finished the game with a team-high 102 receiving yards.

                      ALOHA, JAMIE MANNING

True freshman quarterback bursts onto the scene with a scintillating 383-yard, 3 touchdown pass performance as Wave cruises past Hawai'i 41-18 on opening day | Tulane's new look explosive offense shreds Warriors for 561 total yards in week one rout | Colossal date at #10 Miami on tap next for the Green Wave

Honolulu, HI -- The Tulane Green Wave scored 31 first half points en route to a 41-18 blowout victory Saturday afternoon against the Hawai'i Warriors. Tulane freshman QB Jamie Manning finished the game 25 of 37 for 383 yards and 3 touchdowns, dominating the Warriors' secondary in his first collegiate action. He was a whopping 21 of 31 for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns at halftime, guiding his team to a 31-3 halftime lead.

Hawai'i (0-1) started the game off by marching right down the field on Tulane's defense and penetrated into the red zone. However the Green Wave defense held on a 4th and 1 play from the their 18-yard line, forcing an incomplete pass and turning the ball back over to its offense.

From there, Manning would engineer an 11-play 82-yard drive that lasted 2:55 and culminated with his first touchdown pass as a member of the Green Wave, a 5-yard toss to freshman FB Marcus Young which made the score 7-0. It was just the start of a huge day for Manning.

The 4-star signing from this past off-season's 67-yard touchdown pass to RB Reggie Moore on a deep pattern made the score 17-0. Just two possessions later, redshirt sophomore RB Brett Curtis would score on a sensational 80-yard run to make the score 24-0, and the rout was on.

Curtis, a former blue chip high school recruit that transferred from Alabama to Tulane after the 2014 season, finished with a game-high 97 rushing yards on just 4 carries in limited action. Due to his running and Manning's precision passing, most of Tulane's starters were pulled in the second half. Reserve running backs Anthony Barnett and William Archer took the bulk of the second half carries, allowing Curtis and Moore, who finished with just 2 carries for 5 yards, to sit out most of the second half.

"You can't be happier with the way Jamie played today in his first game out there but there is still a lot for us to clean up," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

"We missed some open targets in the first half, especially on deep routes. We probably left a good 150 yards on the field out there. Jamie will also tell you that he made some poor decisions with the football and some of his passes hit defenders' hands. Some of those mistakes will result in turnovers next week or as we get deep into our conference schedule."

Hawai'i played most of the game without its starting QB Leonard Davis, who exited the game in the second quarter with a back injury. Backup QB Justin Reid finished the game and went 31 of 46 for 337 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. His favorite target was WR Alonzo Barclay, who caught a whopping 15 receptions for 168 yards on the day.

At the end of the day though, the Warriors' run and shoot offense was no match for the Green Wave's high-flying offense, who finished the game with no turnovers.

Tulane (1-0) will travel to face #10 Miami (0-0) next week on the road. It will be the two schools' first meeting since 1978, a 20-16 win by the Green Wave in New Orleans. The Hurricanes lead the all-time series between the two schools with a 5-6-1 record. The game will mark the debut for Miami freshman QB Kevin Davis (79 overall), a 4-star high school recruit this past off-season.

Notes: Tulane #2 WR Gerald Alexander (79) exited the game with a shoulder injury in the third quarter. Geezy indicated in his post game press conference that he is expected to miss 3 to 4 weeks. Sophomore WR Herbie Smith is expected to start in his place (71) while WR Brennan Carpenter (77), currently 5th on the depth chart, will also be expected to see his role increased substantially.

It is amazing how you are so in-tuned with my chises. You are always calling stuff and it seemingly always comes to fruition.

Yep...The Hawai'i defense is one thing, the Canes are a whole 'nother story. There are some matchups I think that we can exploit though, particularly versus their secondary. They have quite a few guys with low speed back there. My WRs may blow past them for some big plays.

But he's not the highest rated RB from his recruiting class on your team :turbohsugh:
Well, Curtis, the one guy rated higher than he is, was a transfer from Alabama. Curtis is probably the better runner so he will get the bulk of the carries. Reggie is my starter though. His speed fits my offense well, especially in the passing game. Expect for Curtis to get more carries but for Moore to get more touches overall (both running and receiving). We have quite a one-two punch, and Barnett (our 80 overall third string back) ain't a slouch either.

Sorry man...I had to do it to them.

I figured this would be a great game to get Manning some work in the passing game (see the 31 first half passes). I wanted to pass it a good bit more this season than I have in the past, but not quite THAT much more. We may scale it back here in the coming weeks. We may sling it around a good bit against the U though; I like the matchup between our WRs in their vertical speed versus their somewhat slow DBs.

Thanks man...This dynasty has reached the point for myself where it is fun for even me to go back and check out my old Tulane teams. When doing these things, you don't realize just how many players you just flat out forget about over the years.

Works for me....Is Southwest Kalb a primary passing offense? That;s a part of my storyline with Manning; He came out of a run and shoot high school offense.

                        Thanks Buck...

Bowers is and will remain a focal point of the offense. He caught 57 passes for just over 1,000 yards. The attention our speedy receivers and RBs grab gets him a lot of open looks. We have quite a variety of weapons. It will be fun week to week seeing who is the guy we build the game plan around depending on each week's matchups.

                            Agreed on all points.

I do think there are some matchups for us to exploit in their secondary though. The biggest factors in this game will be turnovers, and as Lee used to say on the old game...The good ol' MO.

I think that may be difficult in this year's game. I am satisfied being in the B range quite honestly. I want my team to be good, but not elite talent wise.

I call Jamie Manning a student of the game with one of the best video game play-callers of all-time at his aid.

Look for another big game from Manning tonight. I plan to air it out against that slow secondary of theirs. We're going to take plenty of shots downfield in this one.

I wouldn't call this one easy. We have a freshman QB set to play in his first road game in a hostile environment. I saw signs of lack of composure (sailing/inaccurate passes) at Hawai'i in game 1. But compared to Miami, Hawai'i is a walk in the park as far as Home Field Advantage is concerned so this is a bigger test.

He is a huge part of tonight's game plan; Hopefully the nerves don't get the best of him.

Normally, this is the case. This year though, I decided I didn't want to get into the slider business. This was my first time ever playing NCAA on a next gen console so I wasn't sure of what type of challenge the game would bring. Most of this dynasty has been playing on Heisman default.

I recently changed the CPU rush defense slider to 60 though (near the end of last season), because I felt like I was breaking too many long runs. Other than that, I am going to just trust the developers' default setting choices.

Other than the rushing, which I seem to have corrected and made more realistic, I am satisfied with the progression of things.

Freshman QB Manning tosses 3 touchdown passes as Green Wave picks up a pivotal early season victory | Tulane's defense confuses Canes freshman QB Davis in his first collegiate action, sacks him 7 times on the night | Team will begin SEC schedule next week versus Auburn in Superdome opener

Miami, FL -- The Tulane Green stormed out to an early 20-0 lead and never looked back, rolling through the Miami Hurricanes 27-13 Saturday night at Sun Life Stadium. Freshman QB Jamie Manning, coming off an impressive opening week performance last week at Hawai'i, continued to display his mastery of head coach D. Geezy's complex offense, throwing for 215 yards and 3 touchdown passes while also not turning the ball over for a second straight week.

The Green Wave opened the game by going on a quick 4-play 74-yard drive which ended with a touchdown toss from Manning to TE Joel Bowers, giving Tulane an early 7-0 lead just 1:14 into the game.

After forcing a Miami three and out on their ensuing possession, the Green Wave would strike again. After another lighting fast march down the field, Manning would hit freshman FB Marcus Young for a 1-yard touchdown which made the score 14-0. Manning was 6 of 6 for 129 yards and two touchdowns after two possessions.

"As is always the case, we felt getting an early lead would be important to establish momentum but also especially important on this night because we wanted to take the crowd out of the game," said Geezy.

Manning's 7-yard touchdown pass to RB Reggie Moore, who was lined up in the slot and scored on a slant pattern, made the score 27-6 in the third quarter. Manning finished the game 12 of 19 for 215 yards and 3 touchdowns. Like last week, Moore was his favorite target, as the versatile offensive weapon finished with 4 receptions for 65 yards to go along with his 31 rushing yards.

Tulane redshirt sophomore RB Brett Curtis, playing in just his second game with the Green Wave after transferring from Alabama in 2015, led the team in rushing for the second week in a row. One week after rushing for 97 yards on just 4 carries, the former blue chip high school player carried the ball 20 times for 134 yards, churning away first down after first down in the second half.

Miami (0-1) struggled on offense most of the game. Freshman QB Kevin Davis, playing in his first game, was under consistent pressure all evening and was sacked 7 times. Despite being taken down so many times, he finished a respectable 14 of 20 for 180 yards with 1 touchdown and no interceptions.

The Hurricanes pulled to within 14 points when Davis found WR Anthony Stanford for a 12-yard touchdown which made the score 27-13 with 8:32 remaining. After forcing a Tulane punt, they got the ball back with under six minutes remaining.

Behind the steady running of freshman RB Paul Carpenter, who finished with 107 rushing yards in his first collegiate game, Miami drove all the way inside the Tulane 10-yard line. However, facing a third and goal from the 8-yard line, Davis was sacked by Tulane SS Eric Bryant. It was Bryant's second sack of the game, and it brought on a 4th and goal from the 15.

On the play, Davis was pressured by FS Dre Harris on a second straight safety blitz. This time Davis would get the pass off as he was hit, however it was batted down in the end zone by Green Wave sophomore CB Eric Jefferson, preserving his team's two possession lead and essentially putting the game away.

"We did a great job of creating pressure with our blitz packages today," said Tulane defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Charles Kelly.

"Playing against a young quarterback, our goal was to get in his face early and often and blitz him from all angles. We didn't collect any turnovers today. But to us, sacks are almost as good as turnovers because they kill drives. We got great pressure tonight from all three levels of the defense: the d-line, the linebackers, and the secondary."

Tulane (2-0) will host Auburn (0-1) next week at the Louisiana Superdome. The Tigers fell to Georgia Tech 35-21 Saturday at home in both team's season opener.

The then-unranked Green Wave blew out then-10th ranked Auburn 38-14 last season at Jordan Hare Stadium. Tulane has won 13 straight at the Louisiana Superdome, going undefeated there each of the past two seasons.
