Agreed man...I couldn't be happier with how Manning has shown up so far this season. On a side note, and I couldn't really mention this in my game article because I like to keep those fairly realistic, but something happened in this game I had never seen before.

For the first possession of the game, playing in this loud stadium with a freshman QB, my WR icons did not show up. Instead of having a B, LB, A, etc...all I got was question marks. I guess this was in effect of having a player with a low composure rating at QB. I thought that was pretty neat.

Anyway, that issue disappeared after that first drive and never came back again. I guess due to our momentum and lead. So it really was indeed important for us to take the crowd out of the game early.

    Nice tough by EA.

I've seen it a good amount because I almost always in year two have a freshman QB (first step of molding the team to how I want it) and if you throw a pick or play in a real rowdy venue he'll be shaky. I haven't played in awhile so I might be incorrect, but I think if he starts very poorly in a big venue the routes might disappear entirely.

    Oh and nice win.
Interesting, I played with a freshman QB in year 2. Like you, I normally try to get ""my guy"" at that position early in the dynasty.

The question marks did not appear. Perhaps because I was in Conference USA while also playing a less than challenging out of conference schedule that featured no ""Toughest Places to Play."" Clearly, this wasn't the case versus Miami.

Thanks for following and glad you decided to post!

The squiggly lines happen regardless of who you have at QB I believe.

But what we're talking about also happens. Your icons above the WRs disappear.

I had a pass play on the first play of the game that almost resulted in an INT because of it. I hit the wrong button...thankfully my boy Reggie Moore bailed me out and broke off his route and caught it for about a 20-yard gain.

Yep...Has to be. My first drive against Hawai'i was nothing like that. It really caught me off-guard but now I know I'll have to prepare for that moving forward with games on the road against Bama and LSU looming down the road.

Thanks agent...The defense has really played well this year. It helps when the offense comes out on fire though, rendering the opposition one-dimensional.

I think so too. We blew those guys out last season at Auburn. They may have payback on their minds. It is our home opener and we've won 13 straight there; We must protect our house!

I don't know if composure is still a visible rating(used to be a bar under their name on the depth chart if I remember correctly) but the more experience a player has playing, the harder it is for him to get rattled. If you play with New Mexico State's third string senior who has never played a down, he'll get rattled in a big stadium. Same goes for freshmen or any other low awareness player. The same goes for receivers and defensive players, if they make a bad play and you audible there is a chance they will blow the assignment; they will usually run the original play. That being said if one of those players gets going, he will become more composed and won't blow plays. It's EA's way of keeping people from starting an amazing freshman with low awareness over a talented senior with high awareness. You know, keep realism.
Yeah I think it is a really great way to simulate a nervous young quarterback. There have been instances of freshman QBs coming in and playing at a high level, though rare:

Good luck with that true freshman quarterback, Michigan. - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF - Yahoo! Sports

Chad Henne, Chris Leak, and Terrelle Pryor were the best of the bunch on that list, but they were certainly the exception, not the rule.

Jamie Manning's two ""cousins"" Peyton and Eli were both fairly successful as SEC freshman, though neither of them were opening day starters.

          N/R 14 -- 0-2 (0-1)
          #11 40 -- 3-0 (1-0)

Tulane freshman QB Jamie Manning squeezes a second quarter pass between two defenders and into the hands of TE Joel Bowers for a 59-yard touchdown hookup that made the score 27-0 in the second quarter.

TULANE REMAINS UNBEATABLE AT THE SUPERDOME, TAMES AUBURN TIGERS 40-14

Green Wave scores 30 straight points out of the gate to win 15th straight at home | Freshman Manning continues to excel, throws for 360 yards and 3 touchdowns as Tulane improves to 3-0 | South Carolina will put its 2-0 record on the line at the Superdome next week

New Orleans, LA -- The Tulane Green Wave expected success out of freshman QB Jamie Manning in his first season, but no one expected the Decatur, Georgia product to prove himself as an elite college football passer so soon. The 4-star recruit from this past off-season continued his tear through defenses on Saturday, completing 23 of 28 passes for 360 yards and 3 touchdowns, guiding the Green Wave to a 40-14 blowout victory over the Auburn Tigers at the Louisiana Superdome.

Manning completed two touchdown passes to TE Joel Bowers in the second quarter, including a back-breaking 59-yard score which pushed the Green Wave's early lead to 27-0, blowing the game wide open. Bowers finished the game with 4 receptions for a game-high 104 yards.

Auburn (0-2, 0-1) fell down early in the first quarter when QB Matt Richardson's option pitch was caught out of the air by Tulane FS Dre Harris and returned 27 yards for a touchdown to give the Wave a 7-0 lead.

Richardson and the Auburn offense would never recover as the team would not score any offensive points until the fourth quarter versus Tulane's reserves, who played much of the second half. The Tigers would finish the game with only 182 total yards and had just 5 first downs on the night.

"This was a complete and thorough win. We really brought it today in all three phases," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

""We cannot afford to rest or let up however. The games will just become more and more difficult from here on out.""

Manning threw the first interception of his career on Saturday, which came on the opening possession of the second half. Auburn MLB Julian Parham picked off a screen pass and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown to make the score 30-7. However it would be as close as the Tigers would come to the Wave.

It was Tulane's second straight blowout victory of Auburn and their third straight win over their SEC West foes overall. The Green Wave defeated the then-10th ranked Tigers 38-14 last season at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Tulane (3-0, 1-0) will host South Carolina (2-0, 0-0) next week at the Louisiana Superdome, where the Wave has won 15 straight games dating back to the 2013 season, including last season's 38-21 Sugar Bowl victory over Virginia Tech. The game will mark the two schools' first meeting since the Green Wave's return to the SEC in 2014 and their first meeting since 1963, a 20-7 road win by Tulane. The Green Wave is 3-0 all-time against the Gamecocks.

Tulane star FS Dre Harris got the party started for the Green Wave on Saturday by picking off this ill-advised option pitch by Auburn QB Matt Richardson and returning it 27 yards for a touchdown which made the score 7-0 in the first quarter. The Tigers would never recover from the early setback.

No doubt man...14 straight home wins is not an accident. We're tough to beat at the dome. It's one of the things I wanted to establish with this dynasty, Superdome dominance!

I hope you're right about this being the year. We have the look of a championship team. I just hope my freshman QB can keep it up and doesn't falter in one of these tough road games we have coming up soon. Winning at LSU and at Bama will be a tough task.

I was actually going to do a big story line about Jamie being Archie's lost long son from an affair, but for time saving reasons, decided not to. At this point in the dynasty and with my goal of reaching 10 seasons, this dynasty is now all business. No time for anymore cute story lines.

Jamie is Peyton and Eli's cousin from Decatur.

I like your odds against South Carolina, domefield advantage!
Thanks for checking in Cheese...I know all too well that life can get busy.

I'm not going to count my championship chickens just yet. Both LSU and Bama put 50 burgers on us the last time we played them at their place and Georgia ""between the hedges"" won't be easy either.

South Carolina won't be a cakewalk either. On paper, they're probably one of the better teams we'll see this season. I just have to continue to play focused with my freshman QB. TD to INT ratio is something I am taking a lot of pride in from here on out and right now, Manning is killin' it in that department (9 TDs, 1 INT).

Yep...I knew this kid would be special. The moment I saw that last name and his ratings grades, I knew he'd be mine. I just had to have him and he has lived up to the expectations and then some. This guy will be scary by his senior year. I think two Heisman Trophies may be in his future.

We've beaten Auburn three straight times now, with the last two being blowouts. They've really become mediocre in this dynasty. It seems LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, and now Tulane are the cream of the crop in the SEC.

                  Fri, 16 Sep 2016 7:30:49 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that the Tulane Green Wave received their first commitment of their 2017 recruiting class this week, Louisiana 4-star RB Bernard Davis (5-11 213 pounds). Davis, from New Iberia, Louisiana, is considered a power running back and is expected to compete for immediate playing time as a freshman. He is the #1 rated running back in the state of Louisiana and chose Tulane over LSU and Miami.

According to Green Wave head coach D. Geezy, Davis ""instantly committed"" after receiving a scholarship offer and never took an official visit to Tulane's campus.

I thought we'd have a big game on defense. We've been in somewhat of an interception draught this season. We really need to start picking off more passes.

Tulane all-purpose back Reggie Moore lined up in the slot on this play and QB Jamie Manning found him on a slant pattern which resulted in a 10-yard second quarter touchdown to tie the game at 7-7.

TULANE SURVIVES WITH A RAZOR THIN 24-21 VICTORY OVER SOUTH CAROLINA

Monster performances by running backs Moore and Curtis off-set poor outing by Manning | Freshman quarterback tosses an uncharacteristic 3 interceptions but Green Wave able to hang on for its 16th straight Superdome victory | Young signal caller must pick his game back up quickly with trip to Death Valley for date with #14 LSU looming

New Orleans, LA -- Perhaps they were caught peaking ahead to next week's colossal matchup. Or perhaps they were just simply due for a sloppy performance. Regardless, the 11th ranked Tulane Green Wave put together just enough clutch plays to come away with a thrilling 24-21 victory over South Carolina Saturday afternoon at the Louisiana Superdome.

Due to the struggles of freshman QB Jamie Manning, who threw a season-high 3 interceptions, Tulane was forced to rely more on their running game than they have all season long. Redshirt sophomore RB Brett Curtis led the Green Wave with a career-high 164-yard rushing performance. The Alabama transfer from last year's 66-yard fourth quarter touchdown run gave Tulane a 24-14 lead with 6:40 remaining.

The Gamecocks (2-1, 0-1) quickly answered Curtis' touchdown on their next drive however. Getting two deep passes from QB Jamal Lawson to WR Kerry Hoffman, who finished with 130 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns, South Carolina quickly found itself in position to score. RB Daniel Coley's 1-yard bulldozing carry made the score 24-21 with 5:26 remaining. It would be the last time they'd possess the ball however.

The Green Wave took their ensuing possession on a clock-milking 13-play march which ate up the game's final 5:23. Curtis' 3-yard carry on a 2nd and 2 at the Gamecock's 27-yard line with just under two minutes to play gave Tulane a first down and allowed them to run out the remainder of the clock by kneeling.

Curtis wasn't the only member of the Green Wave offense to have a strong performance. RB Reggie Moore caught a career-high 10 receptions for 101 yards and had two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. His 3-yard touchdown run with 0:12 remaining in the first half gave Tulane a 14-7 lead, their first lead of the game.

Manning, who came in with 9 touchdown passes and only 1 interception through three games, struggled to get into rhythm versus the Gamecocks defense, throwing two interceptions in the first quarter and one in the third quarter. He finished the afternoon 20 of 27 for 250 yards and 1 touchdown to go along with the 3 picks. He now has 10 touchdown passes and 4 interceptions so far this season, but was largely disappointing in his fourth career start.

"We knew they'd be days like this," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

"I think we have to keep reminding ourselves and be cognizant of the fact that we're talking about a first year quarterback playing in the SEC. I don't want to make excuses but let us not kid ourselves; He wasn't going to keep up with the pace he set in our first three games in regards to the touchdown to interception ratio. We knew they'd be multiple interception days. It is obviously his first and it probably won't be his last.

"We just have to do the things that are necessary to protect him and have guys step up when he's not on point like today. I thought Brett and Reggie did a great job of coming up big when we needed it most as did the offensive line."

Tulane (4-0, 2-0) will travel to face rival LSU (1-1, 0-0) next week at Baton Rouge in ""The Battle for the Tiger Rag."" The Green Wave blew out the Tigers last season 45-7 at the Superdome, just one year removed from a 56-31 blowout loss the previous season at Tiger Stadium. Tulane is 2-2 versus LSU under Geezy.

Tigers redshirt senior QB Michael Robertson (92 ovr/87 spd) is 6-5 220 pounds & has thrown four touchdown passes and has a 125.9 quarterback rating through two games.

Tulane RB Brett Curtis takes a handoff into the open field before being bottled up by three South Carolina defenders. However the blue chip Alabama transfer from a year ago was able to spin his way out of the gang tackle attempt and take it to the house for a spectacular 66-yard touchdown which extended the Green Wave's lead to 24-14 with 6:40 remaining.

Yeah there doesn't seem to be a ton of movement at the top so far this year. It is still early though! Now that every team is moving into the thick of their conference schedule, we should start to see some Top 10 movement.

Yep...I knew there would be games like this. In order to go undefeated and/or win a national title, you have to figure out ways to come out on top in games like this and we did just that.

In some ways, I am glad we had a close game. And lets me know that my team isn't invincible and that the game hasn't gotten too easy.

Manning will bounce back. I'll be leaning on him heavily against LSU. I'm not going to back down with the freshman QB going into Death Valley.

It's the championship caliber teams that find a way to gut it out and get the W even when the wheels are coming off the bus. Manning looked pretty shaky but you have to expect that, I think we forget he is a true freshman. It is scary to think how good he will be down the line. You got some tough road games coming up and it will take more than just one player to pull them out. Good luck man!
Thanks Cheese....This next game against LSU is the first of 3 very tough SEC road games. The Tigers are our rivals and I am sure they'll have revenge on their minds after the 45-7 stomping we put on them at the dome last season. They beat us 56-31 last time we played at Tiger Stadium. It is a tough place to play so we'll have to play a near-flawless game to have a chance.

I have full confidence that Manning can play well there. I like our matchups versus their secondary.

Tulane | Wave to wear all-green on Saturday
                              Thu, 22 Sep 2016 7:30:49 -0700
Tammy Nunez of the New Orleans Times Picayune reports that for a second consecutive season, the Tulane Green Wave will wear its all-green uniforms versus LSU. Tulane last wore its all-green uniforms with green helmets last season versus LSU, when they beat the Tigers 45-7 at the Louisiana Superdome. LSU will wear its traditional home white uniforms on Saturday.

"You'll probably see us break out the all green with the green helmets every year against LSU and also against our other rival, Southern Miss, whenever we play them at the Dome," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

"We'd like to make this a tradition. Hopefully they bring the same magic they brought us last year. We blew them out at home last year when we wore these at home but they blew us out 56-31 the last time we played them in Baton Rouge two years ago. I guess you can see we're a little superstitious around here."
