Man I would love to go back and read some of my old dynasties and those of others.

It has been a long time since I have even gotten to a National Title gaeme. I think my last one was with Duke back on NCAA 2007. I definitely don't take championships for granted anymore. It is hard to win a championship and that's the way it should be.

Ha...I was just reading some of my old game reports the other day. It is funny reading about how much I was sweating ""big games"" against the likes of Marshall and UTEP several months back and here we are getting ready to play for a BCS title.

It should be a great game featuring two teams with contrasting styles. We're the high-flying, ""finesse"" dome team. They're the rugged, power-run, great defensive Big 10 team. In the words of Bart Scott -

      Can't Wait!

TOP ROW: Tulane QB Jamie Manning's 19-yard completion to WR Herbie Smith on 3rd and 7 gave Tulane a first down at the Nittany Lions' 6-yard line with only 0:10 remaining in the game. | BOTTOM ROW: Three plays following the pivotal third down conversion, Manning finds RB Reggie Moore on a slant pattern for the game-winning 6-yard touchdown which put Tulane ahead 29-26 with only 0:02 left to go in the game.

MANNING LEADS LEGENDARY GAME-WINNING DRIVE TO GIVE TULANE ITS FIRST EVER BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

RB Reggie Moore's 6-yard touchdown reception with only :02 remaining caps off classic finish as Wave knocks off defending national champion Penn State | Freshman QB Manning cements his place in Tulane lore with his masterful 10-play 80-yard march with under one minute remaining | Green Wave, Nittany Lions exchange lead four times in the game's final 5:24

Miami, FL -- The #1 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions and the #2 ranked Tulane Green Wave battled back and forth throughout Sunday Night's BCS National Championship Game in Miami. In the end though, it was the inexperienced Green Wave who made the crucial plays and were left standing on top of the mountain, defeating the defending national champion Nittany Lions 29-26, winning the school's first ever BCS national championship. QB Jamie Manning's 6-yard touchdown strike to RB Reggie Moore put the Wave on top with just 0:02 remaining and capped off a historic 10-play 80-yard drive which lasted just 0:45 and put the cherry on top of a terrific performance by the freshman signal-caller.

"The play we called is one we felt very comfortable with and was one that we knew if we got the right match-up and versus the right coverage, we would score," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

"We lined Reggie up in the slot and he was covered one on one versus a defender we felt comfortable with him going against. We were at the 6-yard line which is a gray-area for a defense as far as whether to play zone or man. We knew if they played zone, it would be an easy score.

"If it was man, we felt he could beat the corner and if it was zone, we knew he'd find the hole in it. They ran zone, Jamie found a perfect window, and we got it in there for six."

Manning, playing in the first bowl game of his young career, finished the game 29 of 43 for 337 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception, giving him a passer rating of 143.9 on the night. The Decatur, Georgia native picked apart the Nittany Lions defense throughout the game, taking advantage of his offense's vertical speed. His favorite targets on the night were Moore and WR Brandon McNeil. Moore finished with a career-high 11 receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown, continuing to be a reliable target as both a check-down option and in the screen game, while also catching passes while lined up as a slot receiver. McNeil finished the night with 6 receptions for a game-high 123 yards.

Wave RB Brett Curtis also paid big dividends in his return to the field after missing the SEC Championship Game with a shoulder injury. The former Alabama transfer carried the ball 19 times for 129 yards, churning out first downs while also wearing down the Nittany Lions' #3 ranked defense throughout the game.

"Our offense was smooth from start to finish," said Geezy.

"Jamie did a fantastic job of finding the holes in their defense all night long. They're a great defense and they did a great job of getting big stops. Heck, we only scored two touchdowns today; We knew it would be that kind of game, but our guys fought and made enough big plays to come out of tonight with a historic win."

The game featured four lead changes in the final 5:24. Down 19-13, Penn State QB Andy Brown found QB/WR Adam Davis for a 29-yard touchdown which gave the Nittany Lions a 20-19 lead with 5:24 remaining.

However, the Green Wave would drive right back down the field to regain the lead. PK Cody Bennett's 36-yard field goal put Tulane back on top at 22-20 with only 1:40 to go. Bennett, this year's Lou Groza Award winner, finished the night 5 of 5 on field goals with a long of 53, earning Player of the Game honors while also finishing the season a perfect 31 of 31 on field goals, his second consecutive year not missing a single attempt.

Penn State (12-1) would re-take the lead late when back-up RB Erik Branch scored a 5-yard touchdown with 0:52 remaining, making the score 26-22 in favor of the Nittany Lions. The play was set up by a 63-yard completion from Brown to WR Stanley Davis, which got the ball inside the Green Wave 10-yard line with about one minute remaining. The Nittany Lions, who came into the game on the crest of a nation-high 25-game winning streak, scored too soon however and were merely setting the stage for the Green Wave's heart-pounding last second drive.

After Manning's game-winning hook-up with Moore, the game would end with Bennett squib-kicking the ball down the middle of the field with 0:02 to go. Penn State TE Travis Lloyd would corral the football off the ground, however he was only able to advance the ball 9 yards to the 29-yard line before being hammered by Tulane senior LB Troy Ball with no time remaining, sending the Green Wave sideline onto the field in championship euphoria.

"This was without question the most exciting game I have ever been a part of," said Geezy.

"It has been a hell of a college football season. I could not be prouder of where our program is. We'll celebrate this one for a long time around here. I've been told that the city of New Orleans is already setting up a championship parade for us.

"This was just a special night for a special team and we're not going anywhere anytime soon."

Notes: Manning surpassed former Green Wave QB Patrick Ramsey in the Tulane record books for most passing yards in a single-season. He finishes his freshman campaign with 3,697 yards, besting Ramsey's total of 3,410 set in 1999. Manning already came into the night as the club's single-season record holder for passing touchdowns with 39...Curtis' 129-yard performance put him over 1,000 yards this season, his first with Tulane after transferring from Alabama two years ago. He finishes the 2016 season with 1,120 yards on the ground...Both Moore and McNeil went over the 1,000 yard receiving mark during Sunday Night's game. Moore, a junior, led all Wave receivers with 92 receptions on the year and finishes with 1,008 yards and a team-high 13 receiving touchdowns. McNeil finishes his freshman season with a team-high 1,074 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns.

I really appreciate it man. For me, this has been my most fun dynasty to date. I've said it earlier in the thread but this will probably be my last one so I am going to treat it as such the rest of the way. It has been a very fun ride.

Good thing he didn't fold under pressure :delight:
I was a nervous wreck during that last drive. On the two incompletions prior to Reggie's game-winner, I was erratic as hell. I threw at least 3 passes on that drive that very well could have been intercepted. It was a very, very tough drive against a tough defense that held us in check most of the game.

That is always the key to a good 2-minute offense - Just focusing on one first down at a time.

As I said before, there was a shaky pass or two, but for the most part my boy Manning kept his cool and cemented his place in Tulane legend.

P.S How good is Jamie Manning going to be next season?
It has been a long championship drought. Now that I think about it, this is the first time you have seen me win a championship on any game. I have not won one since NCAA 2007 with Duke.

Jamie is going to be unstoppable next year. I'm thinking we send at least 2 guys to the Heisman ceremony next year. Manning, Moore (if he returns for his senior season of course), and/or RB Brett Curtis are all going to be poised for big years (again). That is still a goal of mine with this dynasty - winning a Heisman Trophy.

Yep - The defending national champion Tulane Green Wave (I always wanted to say that) title defense begins now. The 2017 Off-season will officially commence today. We aren't losing many of our top players so we should be a force again next season. Next season will have a whole different feel for it knowing that we're the team to beat in college football.

Yep...Mardi Gras would go on for months if this story ever played out in real life.

Thanks for checking in and sorry for knocking off your Gamecocks TWICE this season. haha

They'll get their shot at us next season at their place though.

Thanks for all the feedback, men!

Tulane | Geezy inked to 10-year, $50 million contract
                                Wed, 18 Jan 2017 10:11:49 -0700
Erin Andrews of ESPN reports that just one year after agreeing to a 5-year, $22.5 million contract, Tulane head coach D. Geezy has reached an agreement on a record 10-year, $50 million contract with the Green Wave, a deal which makes him the highest paid head coach in college football. Geezy led Tulane to its first ever national championship this past season, guiding the Wave to a 29-26 victory over defending national champion Penn State last week in the BCS National Championship Game. He reportedly turned down an offer from Miami to sign the lucrative 6-year extension to his previous deal.

ESPN's Adam Shefter reports that Tulane RB Reggie Moore has elected to pass on the 2017 NFL Draft and remain with the Green Wave for his senior season. Moore, a projected first round pick, led Tulane with 1,910 all-purpose yards and 17 total touchdowns this past season. Despite a career-low 522 rushing yards this year, Moore excelled as a receiver both out of the backfield and lined up in the slot, catching 92 receptions for 1,008 yards and 13 touchdowns this year, including the game-winning 6-yard touchdown reception with 0:02 remaining in last week's 29-26 BCS National Championship Game victory over Penn State.
