    Re: On-Ball defense tips.

Does anyone find that there's any advantage to playing on ball defense vs off ball defender? I remember last year there was a greater percentage drop for a user contest.

On ball defense for everything except pick and rolls.

I'm loving the on ball defense this year. Haven't had this much fun playing on ball in years.

I'm having trouble using the RS to cut them off, you make it look so easy and beautiful.

You have to first go with the principle that once a person is cut off, in all likelihood once a person is cut off, they will change direction. Thats a golden opportunity to use the cut-off, then once you combine that with the tendencies you learn from a player you can progressively tighten the screws on you opposition.

Have to play off ball on those. Same situation here. I love when kids cheese the terrines help for a quarter and I start off ball helping on it after that and they send me a message complaining about off ball 🤕🤕

Thanks for the heads up. So in example, I cut the ballhandler off with LT+RT, then just use LT+RS to cut-off?

Yea, go passive with the first cut off because you dont want to pay heavily for being wrong, then once you see that change of direction the right stick is your friend.

The most important advice i can give for onball defense go side to side and back never forward always back and side if you know what i mean..

I can't even focus on on ball D. My team's off ball D is so awful I'm constantky trying to fix their mistakes. The defensive settings don't seem to work as well as they should. My center is Noah but he will not follow the hedge settings. Combine that with my poor stick skills and sluggish controls and I can't get stops.

Good advice here. Unless I see they are fully committed to going in one direction, like guys determined to go baseline, I'm passive with my first RS push because its easy to get burned. A good addition from patch 4 is more contact on cut offs and larger punishments for the ball handler...you can actually make them pick up the ball in some situations..

                        Re: On-Ball defense tips.

I have only played a little online (using a gold trial and don't have that great of internet).

But I played someone the other day that was so frustrating. He would just inbound the ball and take it the length of the court over and over on me and I couldn't do a thing (it was a lower rated players challenge on MyTeam). Since the new patch came out, I have had problems locking onto guys when not given time to do it.
What is the best way to slow down the guy with the ball running full speed?

                        Thanx.

                          Re: On-Ball defense tips.

I think that all players that are average to below average ball handlers should be forced into picking up the ball more often if they get cut off trying to hard charge to the rim. Good defense isn't rewarded in this game with enough late possession highly contested jumpers.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

This is why I don't play the CPU often lol
This is so damn obvious, first of all you don't even try to d up dwight howard that far away from the hoop with a center that at best may have a 50 speed, that doesn't give you time to react & your first problem is that you held the l2/lt button down, as soon as he went by you, should've let go & try to catch up with rt & rt stick to cut off, you did neither & this would happen & has happen to me in the paint, you think you did everything right when in fact you did everything wrong, just go to scrimmage & play the rockets or play him one on one on the blacktop with the same player you was guarding him with. There & only there will you realize your mistakes & understand what the ppl in the forums have been telling you. The only person you could've tried to d-up dwight that way was anthony davis, why becuase he has the similar speed to dwight

Really nice vid. What defensive assist and shot contest are u using? Also what poe are u predominantly rocking with? Really good anticipation u don't seem like your using the right stick too much to cut off your opponent
