    This Game ALWAYS Feels Different

So look, to avoid the "secret update" conspiracies I won't say anything more than this here sentence about them...

But aye, I swear from week to week and sometimes day to day this game plays like night and day...bars. lol..

Post patch I was playing bad, like real bad. I started getting my old numbers back tho.

A couple weeks after, I eventually had 3 straight games of Pro-Am where I had almost 30 points and 30 boards as my center.

Fast forward to the past few days.

I go on with my center and cracked 10 boards once in about 7 games. What?? Now, I had games where I had 10+ blocks and another where I had almost a quadruple double but the point remains...

Why does the game suddenly and randomly feel so different?

It's not just Pro-Am because I played a few games against my friend and I was playing with the Pistons and Drummond felt very off. He wasn't pursuing the boards, in fact the cpu Ilyasova was ripping them from my hands.

Now this can effect shooting open shots, how contested layups fall, how often you dunk on people, rebounding, etc.
There's just days where it feels like it's a brand new game and I'm basically wondering who else this happens to?

I know I didn't just get Space Jam'd and lose all my skill overnight lol
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

I know what you're saying. I don't experience it as much playing Guard, but there are days were I can't miss, throwing bullet passes to the open guys off direction passing, and posterizing any center that looks at me wrong.

Then the next day I brick everything, directional passing operates as well as a blind man using a compass, and I get pulled out of any drive animation after take off to get stripped.

Adaptation has been the only thing that helps me, but sometimes I'm not sure what game I'm playing on a day to day/week to week basis

Everyone knows I've been firmly against the conspiracy theories...but as someone who took the time to lab like crazy and master all the moves this year, I would bet my paycheck that the on ball defense has changed at least 3-4 times, lol

When I see that update screen......that can only mean one thing.

I don't think they change things on a daily basis, just the game is so inconsistent in so many aspects.

Fouls, control input, player movement, shot meter...all of it has seemingly different outcomes, even when doing the same thing.

For an actual eSports model, they need to take out so much ratings context unpredictability and make it more about precise and exact input and decision making. Takes some of the 'realism' out of it, but going on an unexplained cold streak in ProAm, just because that can and does happen in real life, doesn't mean it's the best for actual competition.

I mean, planning out a perfect play, getting your best shooter to his got spot, making the right pass decision to not get it stolen, make the right dribble move to get space, time out a perfect green release...and it still can miss.

          Realistic? Very much so.
Rage nducing video game BS? Also yes.

Should not be the case online in competition.

I think it is a blessing and a curse I am not connected to the internet at my house due to this year's theory of inconsistent gameplay.

I get my updated rosters, ACE updates and disconnect after a few minutes and my gameplay has been very consistent. The only difference I experience is after a patch.

Even so, I wish I had online so I could play with the OS fam!

Every game can still be different, and people can still struggle or prosper, it just should be based 100% in decision making, strategy utilization, perfect timing and precise control input. Not unforseen, under the hood ratings, streaks, and badges.

For me, I feel I can do exactly what I want to do, when I want to do it....that's why I can feel it immediately if something is different in the way the A.I is reacting, lol

I don't quite feel it's as drastic as some others say but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel it in that particular area. I wouldn't sum up my entire experience as inconsistent though....I know there are ebbs and flows.

Last thing I want it another Patch #4 'everything go in if open' situation again.

Re: This Game ALWAYS Feels Different

Yea I mean I play this game a lot, every day.

I know which moves work and which don't.

How to do certain things that inexperienced guys don't...I can really exploit their lack of knowledge of both 2K and real life.

But like the past 2 days it was just real frustrating seeing certain things.

Dudes were just throwing garbage passes and I could barely tip the ball away..even if I did it wasn't a steal. Dunking through my defense literally sliding me away. Blocking every dunk when they're so far outta the play...

Little things like that that you really can't do anything about is where it gets frustrating.

At the end of the day I'd end up with a W and better stat-line, but it's still frustrating not knowing which 2K you're playing today.

And I just realized this did come after me going to the main menu for one of those updates. Coincidence or not it's whatever...just a little annoying.

I have been saying this since 08. People back then was telling me that I'm seeing things. For some reason 2k will not tell us about the small tweaks or "under the hood" changes that they do. The thing is for us fans who play the game like a religion (I use to play this game daily), we are able to see these changes. Its not a coincidence. Nice to see that you guys are still seeing these changes in 2016......

Glad I don't play this game as much. I just enjoy their game of basketball for what it is. No more analyzing for me.

UNDER THE HOOD tweaks are real people...your not the one crazy...they are for thinking we are

This is how I feel, and it's in Line with 24 as well. For my playstyle I know how to get the result I want and exploit the weaknesses the guy I'm playing against has. It changes frequently enough to notice.

However, I think subconsciously I do what Jeebs said, which is assume it's just everyday basketball where no situation is exactly the same. I say this because it doesn't really pissed me off, it's just annoying from time to time.

^^^ Also it may be a good thing that we get changes in the game. Think about this as well, the commentators (shaq, Kenny & ennie), their atmosphere changes in the background from time to time. Sometimes their inside and sometimes their outside doing their commentary. Whos doing that? Who making those lil changes? I'm also seeing new interviews from burk. New commentary. New words. I'm seeing things bro...and it aint ghost

I use to get pissed off about this as well, but its healthy for changes to happen. Its a good thing.

Listen, waaay back when changes were happening as a result of roster updates last gen, that no one believed and i put together a vid to prove it, i was preaching about the behind the scene changes....

I dont know if its a side-effect of so many things being interconnected on the back-end or intentional but this version is no different. Im not saying its night and day but i play this game waaaaay too much not to notice changes.
