Money, great call on the 10% setting the bar for the other 90%. Hmm... sounds like another issue where the extreme minority write the rules for the majority...
And in regard with Coyotes, they are holding on 2nd/3rd spot in Pacific with Smith sidelined, that is playing some inexperienced goalie.

And if they miss the playoffs, I would hope they get 1OA, because that would be great prize for their effort this year, unlike some teams.

Lightning finally getting a winning streak going, won 3 straight on the road after last night's 4-0 win against Colorado. Team looks a lot better with a fully healthy team out there

It was nice to see Johnson pot one. I know he's still injured from last years postseason so hopefully he's getting healthier by the day.

Love seeing Stammer pop two in as well. I think he's gone, but hopefully he gives the Bolts some great performances before he leaves.

My carolina hurricanes are playing great hockey of late. It's still going to be tough for them as there's a heap of teams all clustered together. Still gives me some hope we could grab a playoff spot. It all depends what they are going to do with Eric Staal & Cam Ward at the trade deadline as they'll be UFA's after the season. I can't see them signing both so I expect one of them to be traded.

Tonight's Red Wings/Coyotes game took the "Joe Louis Arena Southwest" concept to new and embarrassing heights.

The Arizona franchise should not exist.

Didn't see it, but I'm guessing most of the fans there were Wings fans?

Half the population of Arizona in January is old folks from the Midwest.

I want the Wild to trade for Drouin. Just to make me feel like they're doing...something...other than their usual mid-winter period of failure.

Drouin to Blues is the main rumor right now. Shattenkirk was a name rumored that Blues wanted to get rid of, but who knows if Lightning want his contract or not.

As for the Coyotes-Wings stuff, this is part of reason why I think NHL in vegas won't end up so well. After awhile, watch Vegas games turn into tourists who don't like the Vegas team, going to watch their own team play in Vegas.

Not sure how this is such a bad thing, though. The seats don't know which a*ses are rooting for the home team.

Fans of other teams will be going to the games, but that also means TV/Merchandise wise, will Vegas have enough interest? Cause ticket sales, in tourist destination, will be high. But don't know how many people will be watching them on TV or buying team gear. Unless somehow their NHL gear is cheaper than regular Vegas items, so people buy that instead, even if they don't know it has to do with hockey, as a souvenir.

They're getting a team for sure, but just don't know how successful they'll be. Didn't other sports consider Vegas at other points in their history too? I mean NBA even had ASG in Vegas once, but nothing like potential team came out of that, and I'd think there'd be more interest for NBA in Vegas than NHL.

Wherever NHL goes, I obviously want them to be successful, but guess Vegas might just be a "wait and see" type of thing. Could end up going good like Sharks,Kings, or bad like Coyotes,Panthers.

Merchandise probably doesn't much matter to the bottom line. The TV deal is what matters, and as the only pro sports team in a relatively large media market, it will probably be a pretty profitable deal regardless of 'home-based' fans.

My recollection of that wild-and-crazy (and unlikely to be repeated) affair was that at the time, the NBA was seriously considering having a team based in Vegas. The ASG was allegedly supposed to serve as a bit of a 'dry run' for how the NBA would fly in Sin City. However, the now-legendary stories of over-the-top decadence and debauchery wrought on an already over-the-top capital of libertine living like Las Vegas (featuring the types of anecdotes which, if they are to believed, would make even residents of Sodom and Gomorrah avert their eyes), in just 3 days' time no less, essentially resulted in Vegas being persona non grata for the NBA for all the days of the forseeable future.

I have no idea if that's true or not, but I like to think it is because it's just so amusing.

Notable players Ryan Spooner has more points than:
                              Henrik Zetterberg
                              Rick Nash
                              Patrick Marleau
                              Ryan Nugent Hopkins
                              Jeff Carter
                              Corey Perry
                              Ryan Getzlaf
                              Phil Kessel

                              That's surprising...

Kane's first regular season hat trick tonight. You'd guess he would've had more.
