This seems like quite the cluster. What are the pros/cons of releasing a closed beta 6 weeks ahead of release, compared to a demo that is free to download 2 weeks ahead of release?

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Closed Beta Launches on January 28

Because a beta is as much for the developers as it is for the players, if not more. You're in a beta primarily to help test a product, not to decide if you want to buy it.

You're likely to experience bugs in a beta, and the purpose of it is to iron out those bugs before release. It's also done to help stress test the servers for online play.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Closed Beta Launches on January 28

Did you get an email confirming you opted in?Appreciate you still trying to help, but this isn't any good for me. As I said before, I've only ever used one single e-mail for anything associated with EA or Origin - my yahoo one. It's not a case of multiple emails for me.

I definitely opted in, and I definitely owned UFC - I have no idea why I'm not selected.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Closed Beta Launches on January 28

I never got anything other than the small message on the contact preferences page saying my preferences had changed. Didn't know I was supposed to - there wasn't anything on the page about receiving an email specifically for opting in.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Closed Beta Launches on January 28

The purpose of the beta is to give people a sample of the game AND help find potential bugs that can be fixed with a day 1 patch or a little later.

A demo 2 weeks before release wont help you find bugs that can be fixed Day 1 because there isnt enough time to fix the bug and submit the patch before release.Comment

Re: EA Sports UFC 2 Closed Beta Launches on January 28

This is the email I got:

 "Thanks for Signing Up
You are now an Insider for EA SPORTS UFC! You're set to receive the latest news, exclusive offers, and more, at this email address."

Now I didnt get this email when I opted-in with my non Origin linked email account. When I opted-in with the right Origin account, I immediately got that email.Comment

All I can do is be able to prove that I'm only dealing with one account/email here. There is no "wrong email" for me in this case. This is the email I got:

Obviously my opt-in didn't process somehow since I never got that email. I'm not sure what, if anything, I can do about that now.

I did check my spam folder too btw - nothing.Comment

Yeah I cant figure it out. Either EA failed to process it correctly or maybe you accidentally typed in the email wrong. All I can do is be able to prove that I'm only dealing with one account/email here. There is no "wrong email" for me in this case.

I can assure you the latter isn't the case.

Here's what I can show in public:

That email and account even pre-dates Origin (2011 was when that started). It is, without a doubt, the only email I've used that has ever been associated with EA.

And the one on the opt-in page is the exact same.Comment

Yeah I don't why it keeps telling I'm not eligible especially since I owned the game, TWICE. I typed in my origin account and everything.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football
