Turbo spam is killing me in RTTP.

I would think that if my guys get into the 70s in the energy meter after 5 straight minutes of play that his guys would be on the floor flat on their backs gasping for air, considering that I sparingly use turbo and this guy runs it all game.

    Any tips to combat this?

Manually bring a big back into the paint after every offensive possession

Have high IQ help defenders (at least one at the 4/5) and a player with "Defensive Anchor" at all times

Try "Play physical defense" and/or "Protect the paint" POEs

Cut off penetration before the liftoff point, right stick contest, if you have to jump make sure to pull back on the left stick for verticality

Lastly, in general don't overreact to a player who is sprinting laterally around the half court; Switch off ball now and then to make sure your help is place

Good offball defence helps a ton, they will still draw nonsense blocking fouls time to time, that's just part of 2k. And yes ALWAYS turbo your center back after a basket made or fts, that part of the game is simply broken.

Oh gosh I can't begin to tell you how many times 2k bails out another guy after 22 good seconds of defense, only for him to play stupid Iso ball and for him to charge the paint at full speed, only for me to get the foul. And it's not like I'm even attempting a foul either, I just use hands up defense.

Protect the paint, get good defensive bigs, sag off all his centers and as many of his players as possible. I played a guy in play now online, he had Lebron at PG and was turbo spamming with him, and took him out for two minutes. He had some cheese buckets but i got stops and it was a easy blowout

Also, try to reduce your tempo on offence and play smart.

Go into your defensive settings and select "pre-rotate" off of either your power forward or your center. Even if he gets around you, your center will come up to contest.

To stop the people who like to turbo up the court after a made basket, all you have to do is control your center and guard the paint while sending a manual double team with the defender who's guarding the inbound passer.

By the time the inbounder finally gets across half court, the point guard will either turn the ball over by turbo dribbling it into one of the two defenders' bodies, or he will have to pass the ball off, which will reset the double team command and will put everyone back into a normal man to man defense.

For normal fastbreak situations after a missed basket or a turnover, your best bet is to have a fast team with high defensive IQ and a fast center with the gold chase down artist badge like Willie Cauley Stein.

I haven't actually tried this, let's see how it works

This is how you jump without fouling? Left stick up?

Re: Turbo spam is killing me in RTTP.

Here is what I do...very similar to "young" but slightly different.

Always TURBO back with your big man...the one whose man does NOT inbound the ball.

Then icon switch over to the big man whose man inbounded the ball. Use him to help stop the PG from turboing past your PG. Just kinda stand there at the top of the key and take up space....use Intense D (L2 on PS4) to stay in a stance...or L2 + R2 (turbo) to stay in a defensive stance where you shuffle a bit quicker.

If the guy wants to really PUSH the ball up the court and force it 4-on-5...then try to double and force a bad pass.

If he slows down...then switch to the PG and play on-ball.

One thing I noticed is that it is very hard to on-ball on the PG when he is coming down the court....but, if you switch to him after the ball is across half court, it's easier.

                      I don't know WHY...

One thing I have noticed is the way the defensive AI works, with the Man-to-Man defense setting is a bit glitchy with PG's.

For an example of this...just watch how your PG reacts back at the other end of the court when your opponent inbounds the ball. They wiggle all around and move around unnecessarily based on the opposing PG's movements 70 feet away.

What they should be doing is standing patiently in the center of the court at the 3PT line...but they don't do that. Which is WHY PG's with a head-of-steam coming down the court give them such a problem.

The PG starts reacting to the man he is defending when he's 50 or 75 feet away...so one quick movement by the ball handler makes your PG turn and wiggle and get out of position.

I play about 90% on-ball these days...but not until I'm in the half court. You really have to FOCUS on getting guys BACK. It must be a priority.

Hopefully some of my advice will help...not that it is a perfect solution. I still occasionally FORGET to turbo back...or I just get cheesed anyway. But it does HELP stop the effectiveness, which gets most turbo cheesers frustrated and out of their rhythm.

One way to beat a cheeser is to make him play a slower style...and basically beat him with BOREDOM.

Yes...and you can vertically contest without fouling by holding L2+R2+Right Stick AWAY from the offensive player.

This is nice in the paint...and if you have a defender with Eraser that helps too.

This would be right stick defense on absolute? or Camera Relative?

I have a question though....I had this weird game last night where my opponent was inbounding the ball after a made shot basically right after the ball came out the hoop. my guy stands there till about the count of 3 before he decides to inbound. is that in some setting somewhere?

Camera Relative...away from the offensive player...aka toward the basket.

Not sure what it is in Absolute.

Hmmm...might just be someone REALLY pounding that X button to inbound.

The button-mashing that some players do is truly mind-boggling. Especially with this version of 2K. I've found that the LESS I do, the better I play....what I mean is, lighter more controlled movements have really helped my game.

The more you try to play this like an old version of 2K, the worse you will play...which is exactly WHY a lot of these dummies fall back on CHEESE as their crutch. They play so out-of-control...that it's the only way they can even play the game with any sort of success.
