Soon. I usually wait until late in the season before I bring the sign-up, but because I've played through Week 10 in game and am not caught up here, the sign up sheet will be up in the coming weeks.

Thanks for expressing interest and dropping in!

Very balanced effort for you guys. As long as you get the W, there's never a problem.

And thanks for catching the UF-Bama score. That is now fixed.

I'd like to work on a bunch of fake classes as time progresses and release them to the public, as you know it helps broaden the name pool, and eliminate the weird events seen in this game's recruiting that us compulsive players want to rid ourselves of (black kickers, white cornerbacks, things that aren't very common). The only problem is it takes a lot of time!!!

Thanks again for checking in Matt, great insight!
That actually makes a lot of sense to not do the editing until they actually get recruited since hundreds of guys don't end up committing anywhere or get cut, so that would reduce some of the players to work on.

Even if you have the end of year files with just the recruit stats and recruit info tabs still saved with your class edits, one could just export those those tabs to Excel/import them over a new season file and let the top 10 schools be randomly generated or edit those specifically to the recruits' location/status, so I'd be interested to know if you saved any of those either I guess.

I know these take time, but if I make a couple, you make one or two, someone else makes one, obviously we would all get to spend a bit more time playing rather than editing.

Nice win over Illinois, had some things break your way (their missed field goals, the scoop & score, them not giving it to Erik Jones more) and go against you (injuries, ineffective TDL) but were able to come out with the W.

Hopefully Gene Jackson and company on the d-line can keep the pressure up but the secondary can provide tighter coverage on the back end against the Vols and make that showdown with OSU in two weeks have major implications.

I think once Sam Rourke returns next week, our D-Line will be back to "normal". Jackson had a phenomenal game, no question about that, but we didn't get anything out of Newell and Lowery (Rourke's replacement). Hopefully that changes this week.

As you see above I actually made a change in the secondary already. I think Wade is our best bet to start next to Crowder while we leave Sinclair and D-Rob at safety (unfortunately bumping out senior Mike Stokes). I noticed that Sinclair playing out of his natural safety position resulted in (likely) lower awareness and therefore poor coverage last week, so I thought it'd be best to play an actual corner at that spot and run with it. I just hope Wade doesn't get rattled early.

Ohio State will be a crucial game for us, no doubt. But, we'll talk about that in a little while. I'd like to focus on Tennessee right now.

        Thanks for checking in.

Losing McNeal for most of the season hurts. Your running back stable isn't nearly as talented this season as it has been the last few. IIRC, everyone behind him is a freshman? Good luck against Tennessee

That was no doubt one of the worst things that could've happened to our offense, aside from more issues at QB.

We do have four freshmen behind McNeal, two of whom are redshirting (for now) and one who has been playing running back for no more than four months.

Needless to say, this is probably the youngest and most inexperienced stable I've had thus far (similar to what I had in season one). I'm still not overly worried though, nor do I think it will change our gameplan much. In fact, Williamson reminds me a lot of Max DeLorenzo due to his size and ability, though Williamson is a little less agile. I just hope he can stay healthy, as that's when the problems will appear.

Regardless, we are going to have a really potent rushing attack in two or three seasons.

Re: We have a football team too... Guru's UConn Huskies (NCAA 14)

              House Broken

I-Jax, TDL both play, show struggles in rare UConn home loss ---- five UConn turnovers lead to two key Tennessee TD's in 28-19 final

Desmond Love's late-game pick six (one of two for Tennessee's stout defense) would lock up the game for the Vols. They forced five turnovers in all.

Marty English proved his worth on Saturday, September 7 coaching his first game at Tennessee against his old employer. The former Husky DC snuck out of Storrs with a 28-19 win on a day in which his team played significantly cleaner than his counterparts, who were clearly missing coach Bob Diaco, who was at home for the second straight week due to NCAA violations (he'll be back next week against Ohio State).

Though not known for his offensive prowess, Diaco surely will provide a jolt into this UConn offense, which badly needs it after another tumultuous offensive performance. Once again, both Tanner Dean-Lowry and Isaac Jackson both saw snaps under center, I-Jax coming in after the first series before leaving before halftime with a concussion, meaning that we still aren't sure of who has the moxie to become the full-time UConn starting QB.

However, while Jackson didn't show much of anything, it was perhaps TDL who asserted himself as the guy, firing 3 TD passes to keep UConn in the game through the third quarter. However, he also threw 3 INT's and gave away a costly fumble late.

But even so, it's saying something that the Huskies were able to rally the troops after falling behind 7-0 after a possession when I-Jax marched UConn all the way down to the Volunteer 25 when he made a bad throw into double coverage that was picked off by James McNair and returned all the way to the house.

Trading three and outs with I-Jax in the game, Tennessee expanded their lead to 14 late in the second quarter on a Nathan Sharp 15 yard TD run.

UConn finally got the life back in them after I-Jax left the game, as TDL hit, in succession, Royce Archie for a gain of 19, Rashad Harris for a gain of 38 more, and then Archie again for a 22 yard touchdown, putting UConn on the board and sending the game to a 14-7 halftime score.

Rashad Harris (making a diving TD grab, left) had a pair of TD's while West Virginia transfer Royce Archie grabbed another.

Star Vol QB Slade Courtney and Tennessee struck together a long drive of their own, constructing a nine-play, 83 yard drive that culminated in a four yard Greg Ray TD catch to stretch the lead back to 14.

TDL would then respond with back-to-back TD drives, both ending in grabs by Harris that would have tied the game had Mike Miller's PAT not gone right and UConn failed to convert the 2-point try after the second TD. Instead of a 21-21 game, we had to settle for 21-19.

That would prove costly as the game progressed deeper into the fourth quarter and TDL needed a TD more and more urgently. As a result, the UConn offense had to press more and more.

This would end up ruining a fantastic drive late. Redshirt freshman tailback Luke Williamson, who had a phenomenal first start with 117 yards on 23 carries, helped gain 24 yards on a drive midway through the fourth. TDL scrambled for 12 and hit Harris for a big 28 yard gain as UConn marched inside the Tennessee 10 yard line.

After a throw away, a perhaps panicked TDL fired his second INT of the day in the end zone, overthrowing his target in senior Rodney Reid. This time Jason Culp was the recipient for Tennessee.

However, Tennessee couldn't help themselves out either. After a J.D. Motley first down, Courtney failed to keep the Vols' next drive moving, and UConn got a second chance to usurp the lead of the contest with about four minutes remaining.

Williamson picked up a first down to bring the Huskies near midfield, but TDL, attempting to avoid trouble on a scramble two plays later, got the ball knocked loose by a host of Tennessee defenders. Culp was able to scoop up the fumble, emphatically sliding in and scooping with one hand to recover for the Vols.

Tanner Dean-Lowry's fumble (recovered by Jason Culp of Tennessee) was one of his four late-game turnovers.

Still, Tennessee couldn't get their offense moving, watching Mike Stokes nearly pick off a Courtney pass in the end zone and a 51 yard Dustin Amos field goal try go off the right upright and out. UConn yet again had a chance to close with 1:34 to play.

Alas, UConn couldn't score for the third consecutive drive, and after moving to midfield once again, J'Shawn Williams sacked TDL and brought the pressure that forced TDL to fire an errant deep ball that was picked off by Desmond Love and returned 54 yards for the game-sealing score. Another pity INT to James Randall ended the game, and UConn dropped their second game out of their last four at home, after putting together a three-year long streak at the Property.

Another tough loss, but the positive is we get Coach Diaco back next week, as well as talented junior DE Sam Rourke, both finishing suspensions for recruiting infractions. While neither can completely solve our QB issue, one can at least hope we can straighten it out moving forward.

Ohio State in the 'Shoe next weekend. I dare you to root against us.

Hard to win a game when you give up 5 turnovers. Glad to see Williamson played well though, you're going to need a guy to step up with McNeal out.

I'm actually really glad to be back posting semi-regularly. I've gotten new excitement in playing this dynasty after my little self-imposed break and I want to keep going a while more. Glad to see at least someone still cares!

We need to play as efficient a game as possible next week, that's for sure. If we do, we should have a shot even though, as you'll see, Ohio State doesn't have many weaknesses and they have something like 13 players above 90 overall.

Need a QB to step up for us, also. We simply can't count on Williamson to go crazy just yet. Should be a really good game, though.

Haha. It's nice to have Ohio State and Michigan fans here (even if you're partially an OSU fan), makes the rivalry SO much more intense in-game. I tend to side with Michigan (sorry, but for a better reason than Brady's alma mater), but we're playing both in the next two seasons. We'll see how it goes.

If you don't recall our last meeting with Ohio State or are new here, check this out for some background on the "rivalry". It's last year's Cactus Bowl against Ohio State, in which we put together an incredible rally, only to fall short due to the OT glitch in the third extra frame.

I-Jax gets starting nod on big stage

Redshirt sophomore QB Isaac Jackson has been tabbed to start his first career game against #5 Ohio State this weekend, according to Coach Bob Diaco and the Hartford Courant. Despite leaving last week's game against Tennessee with a concussion, Diaco feels that Jackson "is our best option this weekend".

Jackson, from Druid Hills, Georgia, has played sparingly in his first two years, guiding comeback wins against Kansas State last year and Illinois in UConn's season opener this year.

This season, Jackson has thrown 20-31 for 228 yards, a pair of touchdowns and an INT.

If I went to OSU, I don't know if I would be at this game, because I wouldn't know who to root for. You can't sit in the student section unless you're nuts for "The Poisonous Nuts."

                            The Secret Ingredient

Down by 28, third string QB Rivero and UConn pull off improbable comeback to down #5 Buckeyes in the 'Shoe

The game-winning fumble six forced by Jake Crowder (left) and returned and scored by Marcus Bradford (center, right) helped seal UConn's miraculous second-half comeback.

Winning in Ohio Stadium is reward enough. Stun and draw the ire of one of college football's largest fanbase? Bob Diaco wants nothing more.

To come back from down 35-7 with a third string QB in Ohio Stadium, facing the #5 Buckeyes, who have serious national title aspirations? Even better.

It was already a good day for UConn before it started, as they received Coach Bob Diaco and DE Sam Rourke back from the suspension that cost the team (arguably) a win and a few scholarships. Getting Coach alone could have made the difference for a struggling UConn offense and a defense that has been average.

While everything clicked late, unfortunately it wasn't meant to be early. In fact, UConn blinked and found themselves down 35-7.

From the opening kick, Ohio State had complete control of the game, taking only four plays to reach the end zone after Heisman candidate Brandon Williams rumbled for gains of 15 and 44 before a 4 yard TD scamper.

A fumble after the catch from UConn fullback Alfred Hart sent all the momentum to Ohio State and their raucous capacity crowd. Will Iamiello's recovery set up a Williams run to the UConn 9 yard line and a touchdown toss from Steven Balchiar to Keldron Lloyd the next play. 14-0 Ohio State 76 seconds into the contest.

Even though UConn got a 4 yard rush TD from this week's QB roulette winner Isaac Jackson and the ball back after a quick OSU three and out, Jackson immediately threw an INT to Ryan Dixon that was returned all the way to stretch the Buckeye lead to 21-7. Instead of potentially a tie game, UConn found themselves in a hole.

Ryan Dixon picks off Jackson for a pick six.

That hole got progressively deeper as the lead escalated to 35-7 early in the second quarter after a one yard Balchiar draw and a short TD pass to tight end William Thompson.

With essentially nothing to lose, Diaco elected to turn to the bench early, bringing in Tanner Dean-Lowry at QB to try to right the ship, even if a little. While UConn did get a touchdown toward the end of the first half, a 32 yard strike to Jeff Matthews, TDL actually threw another INT that was (luckily) not scored off of. Evlen Johnson's pick set up Ohio State 32 yards from paydirt, and though they got inside the 15, placekicker Kevin Delastonte, normally a very accurate kicker, pushed his 30 yard try wide right.

Following a second interception right after the half (to Iamiello), TDL, complaining of pain near his chest, exited the game having thrown only eight passes. Instead of going back to an inefficient I-Jax, Diaco turned to fifth year senior and third string QB Jarrett Rivero off the bench.

Keep in mind that this kid walked on to UConn five years ago. The odds were slim for the young kid from Torrington, CT, but this was finally his time to shine. Did he ever.

But he'd have to wait briefly. Balchiar capped off a quick three play drive by taking a read option 21 yards for another Buckeye TD to extend the lead to a seemingly insurmountable 42-14.

Luckily for UConn, all was not lost. Rivero's first act was a successful one. After getting some help converting a fourth down from Luke Williamson (another 100+ yard rushing day), hitting Rashad Harris for 36 and then cornerback/fullback/wide receiver Kyler Parks from 11 yards out to move to within three TD's.

Jarrett Rivero was the catalyst behind UConn's comeback.

Despite Ohio State running Williams well (he would end with 123 yards), Buckeye coach Urban Meyer was intent on throwing the ball despite being up big. Unfortunately, that didn't pay off as after having a Vince Calton first down catch called off due to offensive pass interference, Balchiar got sacked by sophomore John Cox to end a promising drive that set UConn up in good field position.

After picking up 38 yards on three Williamson carries, Rivero hit the young running back on a wheel route from 16 yards away to pull to 42-28. 90 seconds later, UConn was within a touchdown after Cox forced Balchiar to cough up the ball on a read option and Sammie Leonard recovered at the Ohio State 18. Carlton Parker finished off the drive with a five yard TD run.

Into the fourth, Rivero tied the game to cap a 28-0 run on a 29 yard read option run, getting great blocking from the wide receivers and tight ends in doing so.

The stunned Buckeyes were able to get a long Delastonte field goal to go up 45-42, and UConn matched two minutes later, but you couldn't deny that Ohio State's offense was still floundering in the second half as Meyer's refusal to run Williams and instead throw with the young Balchiar was starting to pay negative dividends.

So when Ohio State had 2:40 to march downfield and score, the boiling point struck in Columbus. Balchiar fired a quick screen to the right toward fellow sophomore Calton, who was immediately met and hit hard by corner Jake Crowder. The ball popped free and was scooped up instantly by UConn's star linebacker Marcus Bradford, who was able to jog the remaining 25 yards home to take the lead for UConn. After a day spent trailing in hostile territory, UConn had finally snatched the lead.

Fortunately, they wouldn't let it go. Williams was held short on OSU's next drive, and deep in their territory they were forced to punt. Luke Williamson was able to gain enough for a first down and lock up the game and seal one of the most improbable comebacks in recent memory.

An elated Diaco embraced Rivero and his team on the sidelines, getting the celebratory Gatorade bath after the clock hit triple zeros. Instead of lying down, getting blown out and falling to a dismal 1-2, UConn found their guy, fought back and moved to 2-1.

Who would've guessed it'd be the former walk-on who was the missing piece? The secret ingredient, if you will.

We stay on the road next week for Indiana to wrap up the Big 10 Heritage series for this year. See ya then. If you can, feel free to bring a QB.

Vince Calton coughs up the ball on what would be the game-winning fumble return for UConn.

Oh you would've wanted to come to this game. Haha.

Wooooooo! Down go the Buckeyes! There's nothing better in this world than a Buckeye loss! Heck of a comeback too.

Now the question is, who gets the starting nod under center against Indiana next week?
