A year later, Kanell signed with the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League for the 2004 season, appearing in four games in Aaron Garcia's absence. Following that, he was signed during training camp by the Denver Broncos. He made the roster as the third-string quarterback in Denver but was let go shortly through the season. Seven games into the season, starting quarterback Jake Plummer and backup quarterback Steve Beuerlein suffered with foot and hand injuries, respectively. Kanell was recalled to the Broncos and started two games until Beuerlein and Plummer returned. He threw two touchdowns and five interceptions on 103 pass attempts. Kanell remained with the Broncos for one more year as the backup to Plummer. He never played, as Plummer became the first Broncos quarterback in franchise history to take every offensive snap. After the 2004 season, he was cut by the Broncos and was not picked up by another NFL team.

      What I hope happens:

      Denver over NE
      Arizona over Carolina

      What I expect happens:

      NE over Denver (big)
      Carolina over Arizona (close)

Maybe I'm wrong and Peyton has a few more bullets in the chamber, but he looks like Willie Mays in a Mets uniform out there.

I would have been 22 and actually cognizant of what was going on in Denver but I don't remember him at all (I remember Beurlein).

My defense is that I was playing college baseball and that consumed a majority of my time then (well, that and being in college and not being able to see the Broncos often living in Eagles country).

Granted I was a teenager when that game happened, I don't remember it.

I vaguely remember Beurlein getting hurt now that it's brought up but I wouldn't have been able to tell you that off the top of my head.

I should totally know this though because I ran with the Denver Broncos on Madden 2005 (for 2004 season). Quentin Griffin and Tatum Bell killed for me on the ground. Ashley Lelie, Rod Smith, and Plummer were a solid QB-WR corps.

Just curious, are there any non-Pats fans that want to see them in the SB over Denver?

I loved Tatum Bell in Madden.

Those of you who don't follow the Broncos may not know this but after he was done with the Broncos he blew all his money and was selling phones in a mall in Denver. A few years later when the Broncos had some some injuries they signed him from his gig as a phones salesmen to finish out the year and he was semi effective.

Manning is a shell of his former self, but I thought he was serviceable in the Pittsburgh game. Wasn't really helped by 15-20 MPH winds and 6 drops.

The Broncos are 8-2 when Manning starts. Best defense in the NFL + pounding the rock can get them a Super Bowl.

The only problem is that opposing teams know he can't throw it deep accurately the way he used to be.

They still need to be cognizant of his football intelligence but teams can bring defensive players down to take away the run (as the Steelers did).

I didn't look at the line but assume it will start somewhere around 4 but will close somewhere around 7.5.

I'm not optimistic nor am I giving up hope for the Broncos simply because of their defense. The fact that they couldn't do anything with some of the great field position they got yesterday though was pretty deflating.

Line started with Patriots at -2.5. And it has shifted to the Pats favored by 3-3.5 depending on where you go.

That's crazy low to me, if I'm a bettor I'm taking that line for the Patriots until it goes up a few points.

Yea I like the Pats up until 6 or 7 points. After that it starts to get iffy to me.

Line could move once we learn the status of NE's LB core and Chandler Jones.
