Why can you not choose player switches?

One of the most frustrating things about this game is playing defense and not being able to choose which player you want to switch to. So many times I switch players and it switches me to the wrong guy and someone whos not even involved in the play. The result of this is my CPU does something idiotic (aka skates around the ice doing nothing and not even attempting to do anything productive). Why cant they make a feature that allows you to quickly switch to a player you want? Or is this already in the game and im just not aware of it?

    I agree,,,
I also believe that EA thinks this is a feature not a bug.

In NBA 2k games they have always had player icons that you can activate above the players. So you press one button and then choose any player you want to switch to by pressing another.

This series desperately needs directional player switching. I rarely want to control the player I get. Since AI players don't back check hard enough, I'd much rather control a forward coming back than the defenseman closest to the puck.

The lack of backside pressure is a big part of why it's easy to gain the zone; the Dmen really shouldn't step up if they're defending 1v1. That being said, they still sag back way to much in most cases and don't keep a good gap or angle to the puck carrier.

In order to avoid your D-men to back up too much. In the team strategies adjust the Hold line/Pinch setting close to 10 or 9 for defensive pairing. They did change player switching logic. I get frustrated myself also.
