Re: The Birds of the South: An Atlanta Hawks My League (NBA 2k16)

            Atlanta Hawks 2015-2016 Season Preview

Roster Additions: SF Justin Holiday, SG Tim Hardaway Jr, C Tiago Splitter, C Walter Tavares

Roster Subtractions: SF DeMarre Carroll, SF Austin Daye, SG John Jenkins, C Pero Antic, PF Elton Brand

Notable Staffing Changes: GM Danny Ferry (buyout), Mike Budenholzer named President of Basketball Operations

2015-2016 Season Outlook: The Hawks had a magical season last year, demonstrating what "team basketball" looks like. Finishing 60-22 last season was a shock to everyone. Losing DeMarre Carroll will hurt the Hawks for a short period of time, but the Hawks will recover because Kent Bazemore is an underrated scorer in this league and he can play decent defense. Power Forward Paul Millsap will be back in a Hawks jersey for two more years after signing witht the Hawks over the Magic in the offseason. With that being said, I think the Hawks should win around 50 games this year.

Thank you. I like your write up format. I caught up on yours. Good luck with the Nets. That should be a challenge to rebuild them.

                  Catching Up With the Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have come out of the gates with inconsistency. Sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference and a 14-8 record, Atlanta knows they can play better. "Some nights we have it, and some we don't", said Al Horford after shoot around before the game against the Dallas Mavericks. "We have to bring intensity and fire to win, no matter who we're playing against." Coach Bud echoed those thoughts. "We know were better than 14-8 and we know it. Now we have to show it."

                      Hawks Squeeze By Mavericks

Dallas, TX --- A game that looked like it was going to be all Dallas was turned upside down Wednesday night at American Airlines Arena. Wesley Matthews came out scorching hot, scoring 17 of his 23 points in the first quarter. The Mavericks were leading by 13 with six minutes left in the first quarter. Atlanta was able to cut the deficit to nine at the end of the first quarter. Atlanta would continue to scratch and claw their way back into the game. They finally got a lead with five minutes in the fourth quarter and never looked back.

                      Post Game Press Conference Transcript

Reporter #1: Coach, your team fell behind early in the game. Was there any doubt that the team was going to continue to play hard and make a comeback?
Coach Bud: No. There was never a question. We always play hard. Early tonight, we got careless with the basketball and that's why they had such a big first quarter. As the game went on, we settled in and found a rhythm late.

Reporter #2: Kyle [Korver], you had a great game offensively. Defensively, Wesley [Matthews] exploited you early. How did you settle in defensively?
Kyle Korver: Well, Wesley came out and shot the lights out of the gym. I'm just thankful they started to not give him the ball as much as the game went on. If they would have, I think it would have been a different outcome. We tried to collectively stop him, but it just wasn't working. When you're hot, you're hot. We just try to contain a player in situations like that.

Reporter #3: Al, you got hot from behind the line. What led to that?
Al Horford: They chose not to cover me when Dennis or Jeff ran the pick and pop. They chose to try to double them and they were able to give me a good pass and I was able to execute.

Al Horford with a putback slam.

                        Weekly Wrap-Up: December 6 - 12, 2015

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Dallas Mavericks in thrilling fashion on Wednesday night. Thursday night they traveled to Oklahoma City and lost 95-79 to a Russell Westbrook-less Thunder. "It was not a good game from start to finish. Allowing 28 fast break points and 40 points in the paint is not a recipe for winning", Coach Mike Budenholzer said after the game.

Saturday night the Hawks defeated the Spurs in Atlanta, 97-86. The Spurs were without Kawhi Leonard, who is out due to injury.

The Hawks sit 2 games out of first in the Eastern Conference.
