The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
Butler's role in the offense has nothing to do with Derrick Rose losing a step or five athletically.... or anything to do with Rose's mediocre shot for that matter. Rose still dominates the ball and Butler is very far from being a Melo/Harden type.

Butler isn't a "superstar" but unlike Rose he's actually an all-star and clear-cut top 3 at his position.
Playing against a garbage defense will do that.

Good post. May I ask what service you got the play type data from?

Alright Rashidi , if you would watch more Bulls game you would understand what the most of our fan base see . Stats don't always tell the full story , we love Butler but he's just as flawed as any other player . I already know how you're on here so I'm just going to leave it at that .
Your post is bias for one because you never liked Rose in the first place and stated that a ton of time .
You don't really watch the Bulls games at all and just go off stats IMO because no Bulls fan or city reporter would say Jimmy sometimes doesn't stall the offense with ISO situations . Yes he's the best player but his offense is ISO based , he will ask for high screen and take his player off the to try to get to the rack . Sometimes he scores and sometimes he gets too deep into the paint and forces a bad pass . It's just Butler chooses bad times to do this . Also rose hasn't lost 5 steps athletically if you actually watched him since Christmas , he's looked very good . Obviously not like he use to but he's nowhere near hobbling territory .
Idk why I'm trying to defend this , butler is the best player but I wouldn't just sit up here and lie to say Rose plays a better all around game when Jimmy is out and with the offense running through him . The team does pass the ball a lot more . But stats tell the entire story

Between the two of us, I'm not the one with emotional investment. I have stated that he has been overrated by 2K Sports for a long time, which is supported by data. He averaged 3.3 (!!!!!!!) assists in January, an embarrassing total for a high-usage PG logging 30+ MPG.

This is why data is important, because untrained eyes create misleading perception. Of what we can derive from the presented data:
1. Butler's offense is not Iso-based, not relative to other star players, and not relative to a chucker like Rose. Because he doesn't over-extend himself and pretend to be a volume scorer, Butler is actually one of the most efficient on-ball scorers in the league.
2. Butler maximizes his athletic ability and basketball IQ. Derrick Rose lost his athletic ability which compounded his non-existent/limited IQ.
3. Butler's weakness is his jumpshot and it is still miles better than Rose.
Also rose hasn't lost 5 steps athletically. if you actually watched him since Christmas , he's looked very good . Obviously not like he use to but he's nowhere near hobbling territory.
Dude is 9th percentile in Transition. Do you have any concept of how bad that is?
Two of these guys can't score and the other two still think they can. It's not a coincidence this quartet are the worst four in the NBA (minimum 80 possessions).
The Bulls offense got worse even though they raised their tempo. It's no wonder why (and that reason has little to do with "Ball-stopper Butler").
But stats tell the entire story
They tell us more than biased eyeballs and emotional story telling.

Rashidi,
How would you rate Tony Allen on Defense? I feel as though he is highly overrated in this game?
Isolation -------------------1.04 PPP
P&R Ball Handling ---------0.78 PPP
Post up ---------------------0.92 PPP
Spot up --------------------0.92 PPP
Hand off -------------------0.84 PPP
Off Screen ----------------0.86 PPP
Do you Agree with 2K's ratings of:
On Ball Def IQ : 96
Pick & Roll IQ: 92
Lateral Quickness:96
Shot Contest: 90
Def Consistency: 95
Compared to someone like Lebron:
Isolation -------------------0.62 PPP
P&R Ball Handling ---------0.60 PPP
Post up ---------------------0.52 PPP
Spot up --------------------0.74 PPP
Hand off -------------------0.54 PPP
Off Screen ----------------0.63 PPP
Lebron's ratings:
On Ball Def IQ : 94 (-2 compared to Allen)
Pick & Roll IQ: 93 (+1 compared to Allen)
Lateral Quickness:94 (-2 compared to Allen)
Shot Contest: 90 (Equal with Allen)
Def Consistency: 95 (Equal with Allen)
Re: NBA 2K16 Roster Update Available Now, Details Included (1-28-16)
How do you guys measure speed/quickness and convert that to NBA 2K?
For example, a player I brought up before - Karl-Anthony Towns. Watching him play, he is a very mobile, quick, hustling centre, but in 2K he is another lumbering big who doesn't hustle or run very quick.
How would you change his ratings to reflect the way he plays?
His in-game model is wrong, but that goes for most bigs in this game. They need to lose some weight.
