Re: MLB The Show 16 Twitch Stream - The Little Things (Archive Available)

Ok so we have seen 3 different scorebugs being used in these streams so far. Someone said perhaps all 3 will be in the game and it switches based on how the scorebug reflects the real life broadcast for each team. Now I guess that's possible but how would the CPU decide to use the Home or Away teams scorebug? Or perhaps Sony knows some of us are very picky when it comes to these little things like the scorebug  and they are giving us a choice for the first time to pick from different scorebugs in the settings? Why I think we are seeing different scorebugs is becasue the game is still a WIP and Sony has not decided yet which scorebug they are going to go with. Personally I think all 3 look pretty good however I am really liking the latest one which is much smaller and compact but still has all the info we need. So If we are only going to have 1 scorebug then I would go with the smaller compact one. But I kind of like the red dots for outs which is missing from the new compact scorebug. I mean I guess showing "1 out" instead of red dots is fine but I would not mind seeing what the compact scorebug with red dots for outs look like.

Also for MLB The Show 17 and the future I would like to see the pitchers and batters name added to the scorebug like in this screenshot from a real baseball broadcast.

      It could be because:

      1. Its still a WIP and they haven't selected one
      2. It's part of the new Hybrid Presentation
      3. It's team/stadium specific
      4. We may have an option to select

I'm leaning toward #2 or #3 being the reason

I could see them giving options for different scorebugs. I like #2 (HOU one) personally.

Around 1:15:08 into the stream the runner on first base is steeling and you hear someone yell "Runner he's going he's going"

Is that new and who is yelling it a Coach, Player or fan?

Also I think I hear umpires yelling things as well. I don't remember hearing to much of this kind of stuff in 15 or early versions of MLB The Show.

That along with the new improved bat on ball sounds is awesome!

Should come from the first baseman.

Strange on the MLB The Show Facebook page it says collect 'em all.

Why would we have to collect umpires?

I don't know, but I'd guess you can field umps in DD just like players, and therefore you'd have to collect their cards. It'd be a cool way to add that home field advantage feel to a game, since the ump would follow your personal preference, but without a measurable advantage.

Did they say they were not in? I don't remember hearing that.

What I'm hoping for is maybe you have a different one for like a Saturday game of the week, and the Sunday night game. For example if you're the Saturday game of the week, they'd have a FOX style presentation, making the score bug different, same for the Sunday night game and an ESPN style one. Then you have your normal team score bug for every other game. Probably not right but it would be great to have different style presentations for certain games.

One 'little thing" that bothers me, is the fact that they get players' follow throughs wrong way too often (one hand/two hand follow through).

Like Altuve's new stance, looks good, but then he follows through with one hand, when he basically always follows through with two hands. Last year, guys like Joey Votto and Buster Posey followed through with one hand instead of two hands. These are just a few examples of the top of my head. But these guys notoriously follow through with 2 hands. SCEA even has their signature home runs with 2 handed follow throughs, so they must know.

And what makes it worse is the fact that if you change their follow through to two hands in the editor, it automatically changes their stride, so you'd lose Posey's leg kick for example.

Schwarber and Correa's stances also should've had 2 handed follow throughs

Ya, those little Stance quirks absolutely kill me.

I find a stance I really, really love. But then when I change the follow-through from 2H to 1H, the stride has completely changed, along with the practice swing. And neither can be restored while using the different follow-through.

I have had this problem for years now.

I probably wouldn't mind very much, but the default practice swings look absolutely awful with certain stances, and the animations don't blend well, resulting in tons of foot sliding.

Yeah i don't know why they'd tie the follow through to the stride last year.

After the first 2 or 3 years, when it didn't work that way, it was fine.
