MyGM: Fired coach in midseason disappeared?
Been playing myGM and I encounter a bug or something with fired coach suddenly being replaced by generic assistant coach in the coaching pool and in the transaction list. For example, in 2/21/16, Wizards fired Randy Wittman. And then 3/27/16, Lakers fired Bryon Scott. After Scott was fired, Wittman no longer is in the coaching candidate pool. In the transaction list, it says Wizards fired some generic coach who is now an assistant coach in the coaching pool. Then in 4/3/16, Sixers fired Brett Brown and same thing was observed for Bryon Scott as he is no longer in the game. Then Nuggets fired Mike Malone, and Brown was also replaced by a generic coach. Neither Wittman, nor Scott, nor Brown was hired by any team in the season. I was wondering if you guys see this kind of thing?Tags: None -

This is kind of an edge case's safety code that's been around for a while. An AI team fired their head coach and replaced them with an assistant coach. As a safety we replace the fired head coach with a newly generated free agent assistant coach so that we never run out of assistant coaches even if this happens repeatedly and all the previously existing assistant coaches got promoted to head coaches. This is no longer an issue really, since Head Coaches and Scouts for example will take the Assistant Coach job too, so we shouldn't have to run this safety code anymore and potentially overwrite well-known (but fired) head coaches with generated unknown assistant coaches.
I'll look into updating this logic so that this doesn't happen anymore in 2K17.Eleftherios "Leftos" Aslanoglou
