I mean what is the harm in editing ratings? Are they afraid that someone will post a video of one of their virtual fighters getting smashed and they don't want real life fighter to get upset about it? If so, we can already so that by lowering the difficulty.

I know that this is allegedly UFC's doing... It just makes more sense to me for EA not to want us to edit than the UFC. Maybe neither side wants to see videos like the "Breaking Madden" videos or something? Either way until I hear a valid reason of as to why we can't edit, then it will continue being on the top of my wishlist list. I honestly can't think of a single legitimate reason though.
It's part of the UFC's "everyone and everything is great" way of presenting the fighters. Nobody can ever be called a journeyman. Fighters' weaknesses aren't discussed very often. Etc. And way further than that would/should go just to promote fights. It extends to the ratings and how the consensus was the fighters were generally rated too high in the first game.

It's goofy, but it tracks that it's why you can't edit ratings.

Then shouldn't we be able to improve ratings if we wanted to?

This has to be the only "major" sports game that doesn't do this, right?
NHL has the NHLPA on their backs about how players are rated but at least this year they let us edit them. One day we'll be able to, it's just not a top priority for EA to fight for. Casual players don't care about rating changes, and that's their core audience
