Re: Ultimate option playbook
I run an option offense and usually I try to have a mix of a lot of new school concepts mixed with a few old school formations. So for example in my playbook I have a lot of split gun sets along with the actual split back formation . If you make your own option playbook just try to go with what you feel comfortable running in any situation . -
Re: Ultimate option playbook
When I go with an option based book, I usually lean heavily on Shotgun and Pistol. I'll throw in traditional under center formations to give me a few power run sets, but I stick with the Gun and Pistol for option plays because they give me that much more time to read the play.MLB: Minnesota Twins

Re: Ultimate option playbook
This is my "Power Option" playbook:
I Form Normal
Flexbone Normal
Wishbone Wide
Wingbone Normal
Gun Split Offset
I can run triple option out of every formation. Mixed in with speed options out of almost every formation, power options, midline iso, trap options, etc. I stay under center as much as possible though, only using gun in obvious passing situations or as a change of pace. There's some really nice just straight dive plays out of I Form, as well as quick hitting fullback dives which I think work better than their counterparts in the flexbone and wingbone formations. It works really well against the AI, I've never used it against another person though.Check out my dynasty thread:

Re: Ultimate option playbook
I love everything about the flexbone, but I feel like its passing game is limited in the game. So, I run a base shotgun 4-wide, with the two slot receivers acting as the A and C backs, and the HB acting as the B back. My base option play, therefore, would be a motion triple option or a QB-slot option. This way, I can still run flexbone and wishbone concepts out of a more pass-friendly formation. Sometimes, I'll put in flexbone tight as my goal line set, solely for power running.New England Patriots

Re: Ultimate option playbook
I agree with you, to a point. Once you have the run established the play action passes out of flexbone work pretty well. You're not going to torch the defense wth 20+ yard passes very often, but the short passing game works pretty well out of the flex.Check out my dynasty thread:
