It's kinda crazy, at this point. It's the same every time. Avs come out fast, trying to hit the hell out of the Wild to get them off their game, and the Wild just ride out that storm and wait for the Avs to make a mistake, and pounce on it. After the Wild score first it's game over.

How high were your expectations this year? New coach and transition toward the younger roster (for the first time in forever), and you already wanna blow it up?Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season
The "transition toward the younger roster" has been happening for years. It is not working because Holland has allowed the blueline to rot. He has tried to thread the needle by continuing the playoff streak while also transitioning with the youth movement, and it's crashing and burning this year.
Blashill can stay. I'd fire Holland.Comment

Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season
It's obvious why Vancouver is tied with Edmonton in points right now, but the real question is what the hell was/is Aquilini thinking these past few years? I guess Linden and Benning are to blame too, but their decisions seem so absurd they couldn't have possibly come up with them on their own. Seems like Aquilini hired a couple of yes men.Comment

Supposedly, Aquilini (a bit of a cut-rate Trump in these parts) is cash-poor and wants to sell, so he's desperate to keep the season ticket base high. Good job thus far, Frankie. It's obvious why Vancouver is tied with Edmonton in points right now, but the real question is what the hell was/is Aquilini thinking these past few years? I find it almost impossible to believe that Benning is as much a simpleton as his moves and interviews would indicate, but...
As far as Linden goes, a friend of mine worked in the same office with him from 2009 to 2012. From their hockey-related conversations, my friend gleaned that:
1. Linden absolutely despised Aqulini
2. Linden had little to no day-to-day interest in the NHL following his retirement
3. Linden felt burned by his NHLPA experience and had zero desire to go into NHL management

Certainly a spicy meatball. Canucks fans aren't dumb, I think they know/knew a long time ago where the team was trending, and would have supported the "rebuild" and some "pain" (I hate those buzzwords) after a highly successful run for a decade or so. Instead, Aquilini's hubris has allowed the Canucks to decay into the worst possible thing any season ticket holder, or supporter of the team could imagine—the trying to go for it, but instead finish in the very bottom of the league routine.Supposedly, Aquilini (a bit of a cut-rate Trump in these parts) is cash-poor and wants to sell, so he's desperate to keep the season ticket base high. The Linden perspective is really interesting. Not even sure what think. Hopefully they get a top 3 pick, and that at least gives the fans something to be excited about.Comment

Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season
Time for Gostisbehere to wear a red cap from here on out. Almost buries what would have been the game winner in regulation and then in OT, does this....

Him saving that 2 on 1 pass was miraculous. G made no doubt about burying the game winner though Pavelec got a piece.
I was lucky enough to be in attendance. Think that was the first time I've been to a game where we actually won in OT/SO.
Needed the 2 and got it.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season
The new overtime rules have definitely done their job this year in making shootouts a lot rarer.
And I think most fans would agree that three vs. three is a lot more interesting to watch than one vs. goalie.
Now if we can just get the NHLPA to agree to using smaller goalie equipment...Comment

Re: NHL 2015/16 Regular Season
So there was 170 shootouts in the 2014-15 season and so far there's been 100 this season if I did the math right.
I added up each teams shoot out game total and divided by 2
