Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
We audit options every year or every other year. Nothing is free as we've stated countless times everything..............everything..............ev erything comes at a development, time, and resource cost. We can not just leave 1 million different options in the game anymore. The maintenance cost is too great. So if there are options, game modes, etc.. that aren't used by more than 1% of the people who play the game they are going to be removed most likely. It's the lowest common denominator.
This particular option was used by 0.04% of 100% of the people who played RTTS. Is it unfortunate that the 0.04% who used it in the past can't of course it is. But we can't be everything to everyone all the time.Comment

Can't give impression when you can't play the gm online. Can't do a play now gm, play a friend or online franchise that's if it connects if it does it usually freezes. Very disappointed in this gm thus far.Comment

General thoughts: not thrilled or blown away but very solid output as per usual with this series.
+ Really like the audio improvements.
+ Great job adjusting the grey on the roadies, much darker and look much better, perfect even.
+ As mentioned a hundred times, lighting is top notch; very well done and the seasonal changes (April vs. July vs. October), like last year, are just fantastic (take note, Madden).
+ New throw-over animations are sweet and in hindsight were long overdue.
+ Multiple catchers' masks, awesome.
+ Color-matching the padding on the classic catchers' masks (they were tan and tan only for a decade), awesome.
- Not appreciating the delay when checking runners, nor the view when checking the runner at 2nd.
- I guess what's done is done but the removal of "true broadcast" pacing still stings; was hoping with "hybrid" presentation that would mean "broadcast" would return to not automatically skipping a ton of animations that we used to be able to watch play out but no dice - 90% of the time the catcher can't even throw the ball back to the pitcher before it jump-cuts.
That's about all I got after a couple of games. I'll say again: very solid. Will get 200+ hours out of this sucker with ease. Bring on OSFM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
I've noticed if it's set to auto base running with Classic base running controls the bug occurs. If you set to auto base running and keep the control base running to default, it seems to keep the auto base running in tack. Don't hold me to this because I've only played 2 or 3 games.
i am having the same problem. I have a couple of posts but have not gotten any response from anyone. The runners will freeze on hits to the outfield and dive back into 1st on line drives through the infield. Changing from Classic to default in control does not work either. Does anyone know if this bug is being addressed?Comment

I am clearly in the minority on this one (perhaps the ONLY person?), but I don't like the new bat sound. It seems like it's gone from "THWACK" to "TICK", in all variations (the broken bat sounds more like 100 people simultaneously crinkling potato chip bags than wood breaking). I suppose it does sound a bit more like watching a game on TV, but I'd rather hear it as if I was playing, not watching TV. Just my opinion.
More importantly, I agree with the person who posted that the sound is just "off". Somehow it sounds like it has too much bass and too much treble at the same time, and I'm having a really hard time getting the settings adjusted properly. Some things sound very tinny, other things sound like they are underwater. Last year's game sounded better to me in terms of the overall mix and the ease of adjusting various things.
Note for anyone else who has been frustrated by the umpire volume: It's part of the "sound effects" slider now, not it's own volume control like previously.
I hope I can figure out how to balance everything out for this year in terms of sound, because I really love pretty much everything else about the game, particularly SOTS.
Lastly -- just a suggestion for the forum. I love the idea of an impressions thread, but it sure would be a lot easier if there were separate conversations for various impressions, i.e., game play, animations, sound, etc etc. It's REALLY hard to look through 280 posts to make sure that you aren't saying something that's already been said, or to find other people's impressions on the particular item you're concerned with. Just my two cents, love the forum and the game.Last edited by Juzbee; 03-31-2016, 01:41 AM.Comment

Played my first Exhibition game, and man the frame rate drop is more severe then I thought. Going into replay mode is jarring, in how bad it is. It isn't even making 30fps.
Noticing tons and tons of hitching on strikeouts as well.Comment

I also saw Ramone in the crowd at Dodger stadium.
Just got done with a game at Wrigley. Again, Eric Carrots told me about Calhouns GG. I've only heard him talk about him or Trout.
When asked about Cubs lineup, he said Heyward is the key to their offense and when he gets going, everyone else plays better(something to that affect) It mentioned nothing about him being the top FA in the offseason.
Simmons walked through Gentry and I have noticed some other clipping issues.
A Manager tips icon appeared in the top right of the screen advising me about the situation at hand. That's new to me. Pretty cool.
Computer starting pitchers are still taken out too early but that's nothing the sliders shouldn't fix.
The frame rate had issues.
I still have no swing/pitch info. I feel like the game is pulling a cruel joke on me LOL.
Lyons again said better hitter on deck with Trout up. I can live with some of the issues I've found with this game but this one is sacrilegious. I have a major bone to pick with Steve Lyons. I really hope this can be patched somehow.
I have hit 2 "fence scraper" home runs. New to me.
Crowd was chanting throw it back after I hit a home run but they didn't. I was bummed.
Cool cutscene of downtown Chicago. Still no take me out to the ball game. I wish they didn't just cut it. I am sure different teams have things they do during the song. For instance, at Angels stadium, the Angels girls come out and shoot T-Shirts at you and the ushers throw peanuts in the crowd.
I've noticed different catching animations with OF.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
I have one complaint so far.
I've always used Auto baserunning because I hate losing games over a mistake when button-mashing to advance or hold a particular runner.
In the past, I could still manually take my own leads and steal. This year, I can still do that BUT it then appears to switch to manual baserunning. What this means is that if I manually call for a runner to steal and I execute a hit-and-run I now have to tell the runners whether to advance or hold if I get a hit.
It may seem small but to someone who enjoys Auto Baserunning, it makes me choose between becoming a (full or part-time) Manual Baserunning guy or never getting involved in base stealing decisions.
I need to test it some more to be 100% sure that this is what is happening but if I'm wrong then the CPU is doing a terrible job of advancing runners which is another problem (and if it's not fixed I'm back to being forced to use Manual Baserunning).
Other than that, I'm loving the game and I'm looking forward to things being fleshed out further with patches (mostly to carry over my Franchise that I started on 14).
Not that there isn't a hit-and-run issue but so much as extending a baserunner's lead will cause you to go to Manual Baserunning.Comment
