Re: B-Dawg's Western Michigan Broncos: Unfinished bidnezz
Yes, although it may take longer than a real-life season to play at my current rate. Just looking back at this dormant thread is giving me the itch to get going again - which will be tough with the Stanley Cup playoffs and the promise of two games a night in the first round right around the corner.
I always root for the Wolverines when they're not playing my Broncos. I kinda wish they'd give me more of a battle. The blowouts don't seem realistic, even with my team at 99 OVR (which is another level of unrealistic altogether!).
Thanks! As you can see from the gap between my posts, this hasn't been a priority. I had some major changes relationship-wise, with the predictable impact on my desire to hit the sticks. I actually have one game unreported that I played about two months ago. Maybe I can get to that tonight.
Yeah, but I go by the team OVR or grade rankings more than national rankings. You can look at my preseason rankings and see teams in the B's ranked fairly high and teams in the A's way down in the middle of the pack. I guess it's the luck of the sim for some teams - both in scheduling and results.
Yeah, I'm sure THEE Lawrence Taylor never got posterized like that!Comment

2024, Game 8: #1 Western Michigan 45, Penn State 0

Western Michigan’s Matt Hancock intercepts a pass.

Defensive back Gilbert Thomas, playing offense in a mass sub, makes a diving catch.
Boredom setting in?
Blowout of Penn State gives
Western 20-game win streak
KALAMAZOO, Mich. — They say winning never gets old.
“They” don’t know B-Dawg.
A 45-0 blowout of Penn State on Oct. 12, 2024 extended top-ranked Western Michigan’s winning streak to 20 games dating to a 41-38 loss to Notre Dame on Sept. 2, 2023.
B-Dawg’s response?
His boredom with the easy victories, among some life changes, has left this dynasty unplayed for nearly two months. The Penn State game played on Feb. 24 was his first game since Jan. 26.
“I’ve had some life changes that have made coaching this team to another national championship less of a priority,” B-Dawg said. “However, I’ve had nights in which I could’ve fired up the PS3, but the prospect of another blowout win didn’t seem exciting. I do have Ohio State sitting out there as my next opponent. We always get a great battle with Ohio State. I hope this next game is no different, even if we lose. Without the fear of losing, this game isn’t much fun.”
Western Michigan (8-0) has blown out three perennial college football powers this season, facing the possibility of defeat only once in an overtime victory at Oregon.
Before blowing out Penn State, which is unranked at 2-4, the Broncos blanked No. 2 Alabama, 38-0, in the season opener and trounced No. 7 Michigan, 38-13, last week.
Everyone knew this would once again be Western Michigan’s day when Marcus Moody made a 33-yard catch on third-and-16 on the Broncos’ first possession of the game. That led to a 16-yard touchdown pass from Antonio Bryant to Brian Brown.
The game became 14-0 on Western’s second drive, with Clark Andrews scoring on a 1-yard run.
A 38-yard run by Andrews made it 21-0 with 3:53 left in the second quarter.
If there was any disappointment for B-Dawg, it’s that the Broncos didn’t score in the final minute of the first half. The team’s ability to execute the two-minute offense has become a source of pride for B-Dawg.
The Nittany Lions milked the clock late in the first half, leaving Western Michigan with only eight seconds on the clock from its own 32-yard line. Richard Burley intercepted a pass with one second left to end Western’s hopes of scoring in the final minute of the first half, something the Broncos had done in 23 of their previous 24 games. Western had outscored its opponents 185-23 in those 23 games in the final minute of the first half.
“This bothers me greatly,” B-Dawg said. “We couldn’t get them off the field quickly enough to run our two-minute drill. That was the only success Penn State’s offense had all day.”
Burley had an interception against Western two years ago. Because of those picks, he’s been Penn State’s Player of the Game in two of the last three matchups with the Broncos.
Fullback Tony Ewing got the call on third-and-goal from the 1-yard line so that Andrews’ yards-per-carry didn’t take a hit. Ewing’s touchdown with 4:19 left in the third quarter made it a 28-0 game.
On Penn State’s next play, Matt Hancock intercepted a pass at the Nittany Lions’ 32. That led to a 5-yard option keeper by Bryant with 2:36 left in the third quarter.
Western tacked on 10 more points in the fourth quarter and protected its second shutout of the season. The Nittany Lions reached the red zone only once, missing a field goal.
The Broncos were 11-for-15 on third down, but Bryant was sacked five times.

Clark Andrews runs for a touchdown.

Nice win B, sad to hear that the game is getting boring for you. Does that mean this will end after this season?! If it does I hope you have the itch to start another dynasty, your projects are always a blast to read. Hope all is well!Comment

Re: B-Dawg's Western Michigan Broncos: Unfinished bidnezz
I thought it was odd this got bumped, because the other day I went back, found my dynasty thread, liked Lopaka's last post and read the final game story. It pretty much explained why I haven't played this dynasty in THREE YEARS!
The games got boring, because I was winning too easily. I played two games after the last one that is posted and won easily over powerhouse teams. I pretty much threw up my hands after that. I also had a major life change. I went from being in a few committed relationships in which I still had free time to play my dynasty regularly to getting remarried. At the time of my last post, I was about 2-3 months into a relationship with my wife.
I would get the itch to play while watching college football, but just couldn't get going or figure out how I would find the time to play. I took some of Deejeezy's advice to heart - he doesn't have a lot of free time, but plays one game a week. To him, it makes the game feel bigger than when you're knocking down several games a week (or a night, as I used to do).
I'm three games into a test-drive of a dynasty, switching from All-American to Heisman mode. I tend to like to get deep into Year 1 of a dynasty before deciding if it's worth posting or starting over. It's taken me about 4-5 weeks to get in those three games. I took a look into my old Photobucket account yesterday to start looking into uploading screenshots, but was dismayed to find that Photobucket is no longer free. I think the reason I came back to this thread was to see if my old photos showed up - they do.
Does anyone know of a place where I can upload images for free?Comment

Re: B-Dawg's Western Michigan Broncos: Unfinished bidnezz
B-Dawg, glad to see your name popping up around here again!
I believe IMGUR is free.
Very happy to see that you're taking the plunge into Heisman mode. To me, it is the best way to play and offers the best challenge. That, along with good sliders, should be enough to get rid of the ease of games you experienced.
And yes, one of the best things to happen from a pure reporting standpoint is for the games to cease being made. There is no longer a rush to speed through seasons to complete a story like we did in the past. You can work at a slow pace these days, playing one game every 1 or 2 weeks, and it helps build up anticipation and allows the dynasty to not completely consume your personal life at all. Heck, I played 9 seasons in like 10 months back in the beginning of my Tulane dynasty in 2010. I re-started the dynasty in 2015 and, 3 1/2 years late, I am JUST NOW into year 9 of the rebirth project.
Good luck mang. Look forward to hopefully seeing your work again!Click here to read my dynasty report:

Dawg, whatever the situation or the reason, it's effin awesome to see you alive, well and posting.
IMGUR is free and it's what I use. One issue ATM though is that somehow their advanced editing options got disabled and they have yet to find a fix.Comment

Re: B-Dawg's Western Michigan Broncos: Unfinished bidnezz
Yeah, Photobucket has going through something similar. I've had to resort to using the Paint application to edit my picture sizes, then I upload those to my Photobucket album. In an ironic twist, it has revealed to me that the process is quicker, easier, and the pictures come out looking even more crisp than Photobucket's editor.Click here to read my dynasty report:
