I really wish that Batter/Pitcher analysis was more accessible than going through the pause menu. I use the heck out of those features and they really help you out during the game.
Also, love how many swings and misses I'm getting on the computer. Nothing like being able to throw 3 sliders down and away and watch the cpu swing and whiff at all three.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Man, the slower pitch speed is really starting to kill me. Every year it gets slower and slower, and this year its finally gotten way too slow. Anything off speed feels like forever before it gets the plate, and I'm constantly pulling both fastballs and offspeed pitches into the seats.
I'm sure it helps those with t.v's with awful latency and input lag, but it's gotten to the point where its too slow.Comment

I was playing a game last night. I noticed how easy it was to turn a double play this year when the 1B starts the play. He gathers the ball and pivots from his knees throwing a strike to 2B. It's very fluid!Comment

I'm digging it.
Love the hitting physics and when you miss a pitch it can hurt. Love the classic stadiums.
Uniforms and grass are still a weak point, but I'll be playing until next March. Thanks, San Diego.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
It has been exactly one week since release day.
Some updated impressions
Gameplay - simply the best it has ever been. the new animations with pitching and especially with defense is astounding. My son and I are marveling at the amazing plays being made and how life like the game has become over the years. The jump this year has been incredible and for me the biggest leap this game has taken since MLBTS 12. Ball Physics continue to blow me away. Balls going down the line, into the corners, the way you play the ball off the walls in different parks. It feels and looks amazing. Even nubbers off the plate look and sound life like this year. All-Star again is the level I play on with adjusted sliders and the game is as realistic as ever.
Presentation/Audio/Visual/Play By Play/Commentary - Let's just get this out of the way....Sounds Of The Show is by far the single greatest presentation feature ever for any sports game. I never used it on the PS3. I dove head first into the deep end this season and I am simply blown away. My immersion level has been taken to heights on a sports game I never knew existed. You can be as basic or deep as you want (I am going as deep as I can of course). The time investment is so worth the prize. Your level of immersion will be through the roof and your franchise will feel as close to the real thing as you can get on a console baseball game...hell on any sports game. Do yourself a favor and head over to the SOTS sub forum, download the starter packs, read the thread as the community is more than willing to help you get your sounds up and running (it is very intuitive and easy to do) and immerse yourself.
Play By Play and Color Commentary are improved this season. Much better than 15 in fact. Lot's of stories, insight and dynamic moments as I am playing through a test franchise while awaiting OSFM. Matty V has more excitement and some volume in his HR calls this season. Very easy to hear that.
Audio is improved as well. Ball of the bat sounds are incredible this season. Different hits have different sounds. You can hear when you hit that sweet spot as opposed to fisting it or hitting a nubber off the plate. The sounds of the bullpens while pitchers warm up even have different reverbs and pop depending on the parks they are in. Highly noticeable. It's always the little things that keep blowing me away with this game.
Visually the game is stunning. The parks look amazing, the PBR is making a monster difference. The lighting is gorgeous and life like. Hands down the best looking Show I have ever seen.
Diamond Dynasty - Seriously.....and this is coming from a hardcore franchise player. If your not playing Diamond Dynasty you're truly missing out on some serious fun. If you're a baseball card guy....you can't let yourself miss this mode. We have a supporters league going and are already having a blast talking cards, missions, etc. Conquest is a very addictive and fun mode. If you love table top games like Risk or Axis and Allies you must play Conquest. Battle Royale is The Show's version of Madden's Draft Champions. Again a highly addictive mode and well worth the rewards you get from victory! Diamond Dynasty is a break from the normal fun I have from Franchise mode. It gives the game so much more replay value than you ever thought before.
Franchise Mode Enhancements - Loving the Player Morale system. Loving the improved scouting using the 20/80 scale. I look forward to seeing how the draft plays out and my first off-season with Player Morale. Expanded and historical stat tracking is a huge addition.
Needless to say this game will not be leaving my PS4 till at least August (Madden 17) and even then....it will be a year round title no doubt till MLBTS 17. I feel SCEA has really poured a ton into the game this year and should be applauded.
A good patch and this game will be humming along.
But for me it is easily a 9.5/10
Yeah.....it is that good.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
Everyone is raving about the lighting as best yet but I think the fields look more bland where in '15 they finally "popped" with colour. I agree night games really shine but day games, to me at least, look like a step back.
MLB 15 finally some lush green grass.
MLB 16 bland again.
Is it just me or was 15 too much and is 16 more to real life?
Maybe I should hang with Blzer [emoji4]
Looks a wee bit bland compared to many high res photos on the net. Maybe someone from Detroit can chime in that has been there recently.
Show looks pretty off to me, but it's always been way off with grass. I'll never understand why their grass is so drab and dead looking. It looks obnoxious sometimes. Devs apparently don't care much, or think what is there is good enough.
As for overdoing it lol nah, grass that is taken care of usually, depending on type, gives off a fairly lucid and green glow, especially at night. It's something the show does not replicate very well, yet it is important imo to real life simulation. Something just looks zombified about that 16 pic. Like all the warmth was just zapped out of it as in a stormy but bright white day or something.Last edited by MythicalGnome; 04-12-2016, 03:30 AM.Comment

If this is the same weather IDK the second does not look like grass in sunny weather. I really hope they get grass down even better for 17.

Yes exactly, 15 finally had more vibrant grass colours and then in 16 it all went bland again [emoji848]
I mean some shots look absolutely stunning.
But when taking a closer loke at the grass it's like a green ice rink.
Check out this shot from 15, before selecting a pitch the grass looked like this. I hoped it would stay rendered like this all the time in 16, ok maybe not when the ball is in play but at least while pitching and batting. How it is now is a downgrade if you ask me. I guess it's too much for th CPU.
This is how it is in 16

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
This may not be new but it's new to me and I haven't seen anyone mention it.
Whenever my pitchers come to bat in sacrifice situations the count (using QC) is always 1-1. I appreciate that because it gives me a chance to lay down a bunt.
I always play in the AL (Astros) in my Franchise so it's possible that this is not new but while I'm working on sliders I've been playing with the Pirates in a Franchise that I'll eventually abandon. Just something I've noticed.
For those that have used QC in the NL in the past, is this new?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
1st off the good...I'm having fun playing the game! That's the best part, for the past couple of years I've had to manufacture fun from the game...this year, not so much, fun right out of the box, not much slider adjustment at all. Overall the gameplay has really gotten better. (Here comes the not so good) The graphics overall have improved, but are really stale in others. This is what ruins the imerison for me, it's the players body types, and well players in general. I know that we won't always get the whole MLB player representation...but c'mon some big leaguers have been on the big league squad for a while and still haven't been scanned. For instance, I'm a Cardinals fan, most of the roster has been off the last 3 years!! Yes 3 years! I'm becoming increasingly frustrated and annoyed by this. We are one the best teams in baseball for the last decade and we can't get any love?! Yadi's scan has been off for years, Randall Grichuck(sp?) hasn't been updated, Kolten Wong is just off, I can't explain it, but he is...along with a few more that are just off...I know we haven't had a roster update, but it's been years since a Cards update so why would I expect this update to be any different? I can't be the only Cards fan that feels like we get the short end of the stick with the Show over the last few years...Am I?? Anyway, good to great game that needs to def. be REFRESHED, so to speak...Last edited by tha_show256; 04-12-2016, 11:20 AM.I'm a diehard St. Louis Cardinals Fan!! Birds on the bat til I die!Comment
