Re: Advantages to created player for DD team

I decided to make my created player Pedro Martinez. I figured I could always use a strong arm in my rotation, and his windup was already in the game. Now I just need to develop him

Re: Advantages to created player for DD team

I have a couple of questions about how the DD created player works:

          1. When I made him, I don't recall having the option to name his Primary Position and Secondary Positions. Did I have that option and missed it? He's listed with RF primary and no secondary. I intend to use him primarily as an infielder and his current best position rating is at 2B. Can I change his primary and secondary positions, so he doesn't get the ratings reduction for playing out of position?

          2. Will he improve by playing or does he only improve by being fed?

You have to remove him from your team and add him where you want. If say he has 89 rating in lf and thats where you have him and you just move him to 2b he will still have that 89 rating when maybe it should be 93. After you remove him and put him in 2b he will be a 93. I also believe if he is out of position he will have fielding penalties

the only way to improve him is to feed him

He is a 73 rated RF (primary position) and a 79 rated 2B (best position). I only play him at 2B sometimes vs. righties, so he's in and out of line-up often. His rating always indicates 73, never 79. But I assume he plays with the 79 rating when playing 2B (minus the 5% out of position penalty). I don't see an option to edit his primary position anywhere, does it exist or is he stuck as a RF? Did you have the option to name the primary position when you create them?

You have to completely take him out of your lineup and add him at 2b to have him play at 79. So that people dont keep switching in games. You do not get to pick your primary position. Since he cannot have a secondary position i think it is a worse penalty

OK, now I understand. You don't mean put him on the bench, you mean completely out of the team.

Good, I'll try that. Thanks for your help.

The created guy can play any position and isn't affected by out of position logic or the out of position ratings penalty.

In order to do that you have to remove him from the lineup and add him in that position. He cant be playing 2b and then in the middle of a game go to rf without a penalty

Do you have any proof of this? I could've sworn the devs said he could play anywhere without penalty.

It doesn't prove the whole thing, but I have left my DD player in the game after using him to pinch hit, and he only has a fastball and a changeup even though it had me set what pitches I wanted him to have.

He can play any position without penalty if he is removed from the lineup and added again. What RedHawk24 said is a good example. they had that last year as well. If you pinch hit for the pitcher, you dont have any of your pitches and it is just like a normal position player that has to pitch. My guy is a 99 2b but i think like a 90 lf. If he is added as a left fielder and in as a left fielder and then switched to 2b he will still be 90 overall but is out of position. If i take him from 2b and put him on the bench his position will say lf.

Okay. I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing this up for me. I wasn't really planning on having my guy pitch anyways but good information to know.
