One thing to add to this. I'm seeing far too many long, jaw dropping homeruns as well. It takes away from the excitement when both teams hit 2 or 3 415-440 foot homeruns per game. It's more rare to see a wall scraper than a moon shot.

Agreed. At first, I was quite excited to see a 450ft bomb since they were far too rare in 2015. I even stated earlier that I has happy seeing that, but hoping it wasn't too frequent. Unfortunately, no doubters seem to happen over half the time. IMO that kills the suspense if done too frequently.

And I am seeing this in MLB IRL more than ever before as well.

It's still way early, but it appears the hitters have the upper hand. I wouldn't put it on the steroid era level yet, but it's definitely a faster start than previous years.

Well, i suppose it's a design choice. SCEA probably want a more spectacular and fast paced game to grab more players. A game more Diamond Dinasty oriented, just like Fifa or other sport series. As a general rule, if you reward players with more hits, more HRs, more bombs from OF, more strikeouts, they'll be happy. While i don't like it, it makes perfect sense to me. Since the introduction of Ultimate Team, Fifa turns into a tragedy. It's all attack with little to no defense, tricks everywhere and bombs from the midfield. And there isn't a single set of sliders that works properly. So as a sim fan, i'm a little worried about The Show cause this year i can see clearly a path.

Agreed. I loved playing High Heat Baseball because at its time, was perhaps the most realistic baseball game, even though the graphics were nowhere close to being the best among its competitors. These day, it feels as if flash and faster paced arcade style takes higher priority. I suppose that's what the majority want and I'm aware most of us here in OS are in the minority.

I almost like 15 better. At least 15 sure looks better with sharper graphics and more realistic lighting. 16 is more convenient to play, but the jury is still out on which one is better overall. I do absolutely love Sounds of the Show and how I can make my games sound just like a Fox broadcast (Maybe I'll change it up to WGN or Comcast Sportsnet at some point), and RTTS has been vastly improved. But there were a lot of things that I felt were a huge letdown, and it has me questioning if I was right to fork over sixty bucks for this game.

First line totally agree with, I keep going back to 15, 16 seems a bit off in certain areas, the game play is about the same, in all honesty these games just don't seem done on release, too many bugs and too many patches, I guess I'll just wait a few months before buying any sports games.

Only played one game I rented it from redbox. I skipped 15 because I just always was bored playing 14. I was forcing my self to play it but wasn't having fun. But from what I got from that one game is its fun to play. I feel like when I'm hitting I have full control where my hits will go.

Loved High Heat.......I am getting plenty of pitchers duals, high scoring, low scoring games....the variety has been as good as ever. So not seeing this so called arcadish crap happening with The Show.

I'm really enjoying the game this year, the hitting is great. Nice to see franchise get some love. Classic parks for free!! Thank you.

I know this is the new normal now but come on, this play the game for a month to find all of bugs and glitches before you can feel comfortable to start a franchise is awful. We should not be paying for the privilege to bug test your product. Spelling errors in menus/guides that should be embarrassing.. And with the game released a month later, by the time OSFM is done and all of the patches its May something and trying to catch the calendar is impossible.

The game is great, and I understand how hard you guys work. The community involvement from you guys is amazing and appreciated and is one of many reasons I buy this game every year no matter what. So Thank you.

The Show had competition and they killed it.

They absolutely did. But they also took alot of ideas from this game.
Such as the menu's, the show live games and gesture pitching.

It's not about variety, but balance. In this The Show edition, you get more contact on the ball and more hard shots in the outfield. So to balance it you have overpowered OF defense with insane speed and flying ability ( seven diving catches in my last game, all by CPU ). As usual, it's Fun Vs Realism.

It's not about variety, but balance. In this The Show edition, you get more contact on the ball and more hard shots in the outfield. So to balance it you have overpowered OF defense with insane speed and flying ability ( seven diving catches in my last game, all by CPU ). As usual, it's Fun Vs Realism.

If you adjust your sliders.....you can get the balance your looking for.

We're trying to make a point on how we feel about The Show, if your answer is "play with sliders", well, that's the end of the road.

If your unwilling to play the so called "slider game" which seriously, The Show is the easiest sports game by a country mile to customize some settings, then that's your loss. I have been playing console baseball games since 1981 with three guys on a screen and a square ball. This is as good as it ever has been....hands down.

I get your point, Armor. To me, it's fine to have edit tools for tailoring the game. It's a bonus, sure. But, again, we're here to discuss the game and sharing our impressions, not to find a slider set or to discuss on how to use sliders. If we start a trend like this:
OF's are overpowered ? Use sliders.
Too many hits ? Use sliders.
Too many diving catches ? Use sliders;
well, the whole point of this thread is useless. For me, this year, compared to MLB 15, devs pushed the balance between fun/realism a little too on the wrong side. And i'm trying to be constructive, explaining why and how. Can i do it without giving a cent to sliders set for a game which is only two weeks since it was release ? It's my fault ? Maybe. Or maybe a game needs a lot more test-time before jumping on sliders. What i see in every slider thread, every year, people modify values before the game is released, on very short sample size and they spend the whole year tailoring the game. That's the Slider Game. I'm fine with that and again, i really appreciate your work ( i read the whole topic, it was a nice reading ) but i want to focus on what devs are doing with The Show, the idea behind this baseball game. And just be careful, at some point sliders don't work anymore ( Fifa is a good example, since Fifa 15 sliders can't do a thing ), especially for hard coded and in-engine parts of the game.

1st off the good...I'm having fun playing the game! That's the best part, for the past couple of years I've had to manufacture fun from the game...this year, not so much, fun right out of the box, not much slider adjustment at all. Overall the gameplay has really gotten better. (Here comes the not so good) The graphics overall have improved, but are really stale in others. This is what ruins the imerison for me, it's the players body types, and well players in general. I know that we won't always get the whole MLB player representation...but c'mon some big leaguers have been on the big league squad for a while and still haven't been scanned. For instance, I'm a Cardinals fan, most of the roster has been off the last 3 years!! Yes 3 years! I'm becoming increasingly frustrated and annoyed by this. We are one the best teams in baseball for the last decade and we can't get any love?! Yadi's scan has been off for years, Randall Grichuck(sp?) hasn't been updated, Kolten Wong is just off, I can't explain it, but he is...along with a few more that are just off...I know we haven't had a roster update, but it's been years since a Cards update so why would I expect this update to be any different? I can't be the only Cards fan that feels like we get the short end of the stick with the Show over the last few years...Am I?? Anyway, good to great game that needs to def. be REFRESHED, so to speak...
