Does anyone know how injuries work in an online franchise?

In my first game after a fantasy draft, I had Matt Harvey leave the game in the 4th inning holding his elbow and needing an MRI. After thoroughly freaking out for the rest of the game, upon arriving back at the home screen I noticed that the was no mention of the injury at all and it appears as though he is good to go.

Do injuries only remove a player from the game and then they are cleared, or is the a bug with online injuries?
