    Tips for online success

Anyone have some tips they can share to help others out?

Some type of move or something you do to secure finishes against a otherwise difficult opponent?

I like to go for submissions after i rock someone, usually they are not prepared and you can get the first two gates easily.

Any help you guys can offer is accepted - I'm TERRIBLE online because I tend to work a slower pace, but a little too slow at times.

I need help with denying submissions. Seems every submission is different depending on the angle.

From my experience you just have to know the animation for each sub AND know which way you have to press to initiate/block the sub. They are the same.

So the Kimura from s/c, for example, is always blocked by pressing away from the DOM fighter.

I'm sure some of the other guys around here can explain it better than I can! Hope this helps.

Making videos showing every sub denial. Do what I did, make a CAF and give him every sub there is and test them.

Can anyone help me with knockdowns? Whenever I knock a guy down they seem to recover before I can finish the fight, however almost everytime I'm knocked down the indicator doesn't even start to fill up before I hear Goldie yell "AND ITS ALLLL OVER". I was destroying a guy who was Lawler and I was Condit, Knocked him down twice and rocked him another and he recovered from both knockdowns, my first knockdown and the recovery indicator didn't even register. Any tips would be helpful.

move your right thumb stick left and right rapidly to recover faster. Won't work all the time, especially if you get smoked pretty badly.

Best advice I can give that almost anyone can use, is be patient and MOVE.

Use your dashes, use your footwork, be aware of your opponents movement patterns (most people's are pretty simple, and predictable).

This will help you take control of the fight, dictate when exchanges occur and ultimately out think your opponent. If they land a couple good shots, don't try to immediately retaliate. Take your time, but be aware of the clock and the scorecards. In 5 rounders you can be even more patient.

Man, dashes are some next level stuff against 90% of the player base lol

They actually need to add more of a stamina drain to them since the back and forward dashes don't change. Whereas side uses a modifier to do the longer ones. Much easier to sidestep like the short ones, than to step in or dash back. Unless they could add a modified version of the back and forward dashes, and have the normal ones cover less distance, and still allow strikes to land. I'm not a fan of your strikes magically missing just because you dashed backwards.

Can i get another tip from you guys since the last one seemed to work. Im having issues with Takedowns and defense of them. I can have an elite grappler versus a nobody ground wise and my TDs seem to routinely get stuffed, even if they were in the middle of a failed strike or what have you and after my meter has nearly filled. But even if I see the TD coming and block right away it seems like its 50/50 at best if I'm going to sprawl on it. Is there something I'm not doing that I should be doing?

I think there were some unintended consequences from the last patch of TD's. From what i remember reading the devs are aware of it and are going to be looking at making TDs easier.

As for the defending part, it really all comes down to timing, Also if you are leaning backwards it is easier for your Opp to take you down, whereas if you are leaning forward it is harder. You can also hold R2 and push down on the right stick, your fighter will go into a crouch position and apparently it stuffs all takedowns.

Likewise you can use the L2 and Down to go for a guillotine choke on your OPP.
