I have it on limit transition, I'm hauling *** back on defense with Shaq, but the other 2 or 3 defenders lag behind on defense MISERABLY BAD. If I had it my way, I'd want all 5 guys on offense to sprint back after the shot. I could care less about offensive rebounds to be honest. I'm confident in my half court defense and offense, but 2k won't let me do that.
So why does "limit transition" still not give you good transition D?

So why does "limit transition" still not give you good transition D?
Went up against some '87 Lakers user with my '95 Magic and every single defensive rebound they got, it was always a 2 on 2 fastbreak with the CPU controlled defender looking like a buffoon not knowing how to play defense.

If we knew we would've fixed it already man. There's been 4-5 patches and 2K hasn't fixed it because they either don't know how or they just straight neglect it. -

Some people don't see it. But this my thought process behind this year. A lot of people want exactly what you're talking about. No transition points. But you can't make a game like that. Where someone just turns an option on. And there is no part of that game. That's why it says "Limit" not "Stop". But having Shaq on the floor can be a disadvantage. It's all about checks and balance. You could always go small.Went up against some '87 Lakers user with my '95 Magic and every single defensive rebound they got, it was always a 2 on 2 fastbreak with the CPU controlled defender looking like a buffoon not knowing how to play defense.

But if you're trying to stop someone who is scoring a bunch of point in fast breaks. Your totally focus has to be which kind of shots your taking on offense. And like you said running back and controlling the flow back.

That's the thing I find hilarious with people's opinions on this subject. It's like they expect the 87' Showtime Lakers to be a half court team with Magic at the helm lol. We talkin' about Magic Johnson not John Stockton.
Now should they get rid of those stupid TD passes by bad passers. Yea I want those gone too.

The defense in this game is just garbage.
Even at the start of the game when you win the tip, the first thing people do is throw a lead pass to their center for an easy dunk because your teammates are always lagging behind on defense.Comment

Re: So why does "limit transition" still not give you good transition D?
Oh man I'd say that happens to me 90% of the time when I lose the tip. My 2 forwards realistically should be helping on defense until my center can recover, but again, it's just stupid A.I problems.
Speaking of bad defense, why does my cpu defender take the stupidest foul attempts on a shot that could be contested just fine?Comment

Re: So why does "limit transition" still not give you good transition D?
I can usually slow the transition offense, but when I do stop it my defenders are ALWAYS mismatched against the opponent. Steph Curry should NOT be defending Kareem in the post 80% of the time on breaks! lol"Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Re: So why does "limit transition" still not give you good transition D?
It's a combination of poor offensive structure, poor defensive tactics, and game design limitations.
In a real basketball game, teams sends at least one player (typically the PG) back to protect against fast breaks as soon as they shoot the ball. It's why PGs very rarely average 2+ o-boards per game, and that is typically an anomaly season early in their careers when they where overly aggressive and sacrificing gameplan in an attempt to make a play.
As for the actual transition defense situation; I can't figure out whether it is purely game design limiting the tactics available, or just flat out bad tactics. The players getting back in tandem don't execute "get first pass, drop on second and hold" that is taught soon as players get on a team. The trail defenders don't load ball-side. The bigs don't tag switch the smalls that are stuck in the post on the weakside.Comment
