It is fixed for "fresh" save imports. So you should be fine, if you are importing for the first time.

I tested it with mine... It still showed the incorrect teams in my initial RTTS that I continued on release. When I picked continue from MLB 15, selected my last MLB15 save, and the team was correct. Also, if you want to generate a specific birthplace, you are randomly assigned a location every time you import from 15.
