Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
"1) This is largely do to using old school code that uses a static radius metric in regard/relation to the "LOS" for each blocking position on the "OL" to give a perception of a formed "pocket/arc".
- that's why "C" are rarely driven backwards, as there radius from the LOS is very small.
- G's have a slightly larger radius than C, but not much.
- T's have the greatest radius (which is why they're the only position that has blocking interaction that extends more than 4 yrds behind the LOS)
The OL will not break away from this "pocket" forming rule.
OL, TE's and RB's will slide and/or break out of blocking interactions to fulfill.
- even the RB's have a set radius and will not be driven backwards further than for the sake of the "pocket".
2) Reacting needs to be reversed.
- currently the DL/OLB's react only after the OL has moved.
- there is a very visible delay by the DL when the ball is snapped so the rule can take affect.
- even "Jump Snap" is marginalized to adhere to the rule.
- DL should lead into blocking interactions, not the OL.
3) Timing needs to be tuned (relating this with the OP)
- QB drop back is way too fast in relation to the defensive rush.
- this throws everything off because both AI and Hum QB's are "waiting" as the other aspects of the play, play catch up.
Much of the frustration is just dealing with aspects of "old code" that limit/hinder the desires they want to achieve.
Hopefully we will see a huge jump/change in M17!!!"

You even liked the post roadman lol. But anyway, the line play this year was fine when it worked for the most part. Atrocious is a strong word I personally wouldn't use to describe it though.Last edited by Dwaresacksqb; 05-09-2016, 07:57 PM.BoOm!Comment

Let's get it! Enough talk and speculation, let's see what they have in store. I like the swagger I have seen from dev comments on equipment. Hopefully whatever is fueling that permeates throughout the entire product; especially CFM.Comment

I just hope it is a defensive player, thus indicating a focus on defense; prefer gap play.
I could see "Los Angeles Rams," QB Jared Goff.. Welcome home Rams.Comment

Agreed. I'm not saying it's always bad but there are time when things happen and you just say "that's madden"Comment

I'm still playing Madden 16 to this day. I'm usually done with them before the Super Bowl. Last year was a huge step in the right direction. I have faith that this team will keep it moving on the right path.Last edited by Pappy Knuckles; 05-09-2016, 10:50 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
To me, there are some things Madden 17 needs to get right. We've been without them for far too long in that all of these features have either been present in Maddens of yesterday or present in sports games of our own generation.
(1) - The ability to adjust formation subs prior to the game - particularly in CFM. Perhaps even custom packages to incorporate three halfbacks or to move pass rushers into position on third down.
(2) - Off-ball injuries and injuries to offensive / defensive linemen.
(3) - Coverage assignments on defense.
(4) - Custom / modifiable draft classes.
(5) - Streamlined & Accessible 32-team control in CFM.
(6) - Open, meaningful, realistic special teams play that makes the third phase matter and not an arcade-like waste of time.
Quite honestly, I'd accept the existing gameplay with those features, but nonetheless I'm excited to see what EA has done with the gameplay.XBOX Series X Gamer Tag: AlsbronComment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
Well since most cover guys usually represented the aspect of the gameplay/feature to be focused, maybe it's "John Madden", signifying going back to the basics of X's & O's.
Well at least that's what I would do.
Just curious what is the "focused" theme to be marketed, more so than the individual that graces the cover.Comment

I'd agree it's not atrocious and there are certain plays where things look really good. It really suffers in the short yardage situations, and part of that is the RB contextual stuff, but when things get congested is where it gets really bad IMO. If they added a bunch of animations like they did for WR/DB with lineman on both sides falling down, cut blocks and more steering/pushing/hand fighting with tackles while engaged vs. win/loss outcomes I think that could be a really big upgrade but it's also a hard thing to market to the casual player and reminds me of the year they tried to get us to be fullbacks.Comment
