Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
Tradition, plus, it's a marketing ploy that still works. Also, I don't download digitally because I'm in the BB gamer's club and save money on the games.
Duece, yeah, that's all I meant by my post that the line play is ok, but not atrocious. Heck, last night I reviewed half of all the running and passing plays and I saw the OL go to the second level on running plays. I didn't know Rocky was referring to more DL play. I agree that part has been simplistic, but that sounds like a big project to undertake replacing the old code.
You bring up cut blocks, I saw Corey Lindsley cut block one of the defensive tackles and flipped him in the air.
Of the plays I reviewed last night, I didn't see any OL standing around, in fact, I saw a lot of OL trying to go to the OL or CB blitzing a open gap. I didn't see any atrocious line play in the reviews.Last edited by roadman; 05-10-2016, 06:06 AM.Comment

For me it's not so much the cover as it is how the cover ties into what gameplay elements they worked on, they usually tie them together which is why I could see Miller, Watt, or Kuechly, as their choice before a QB, as D line play and run D is a glaring issue. Unless there's a new passing system then it would be Cam or Peyton.Comment

There's no way they can't not know how that will be interpreted, right? They simply cant! As a franchise nut, now I'm officially intrigued and watching.Comment

Rex stated CFM was a great weakness moving forward and needed to be improved. Since that interview, people doubted Rex and if CFM would be improved.
Just need to see what was improved and how it works.
In Rex we trust folks, simple as that.Comment

He certainly says all the right things and has garnered some people's trust and optimism for the future of the franchise, including mine. In saying that though, I can understand the trepidation some others still might feel. EA has a long resume of dissapointing the sim community. Rex's resume isn't there yet. Madden 17, if done right, can give those people who are weary of trusting EA new found hope. Madden 17 will either make or break Rex in my opinion. Nothing worse than promising so much, gaining people's trust, only to under deliver. And nothing better than building the hype of the game to great levels, picking up people's spirit who were once dissapointed year in, year out and delivering the product we all hoped for. Then and only then, could we truly show the doubters that all is not to fear, REX IS HERE!!!Last edited by Dwaresacksqb; 05-10-2016, 09:07 AM.BoOm!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
The @EAMaddenNFL Twitter has been tweeting out all the different official game covers, along with a bunch of photoshopped M17 game covers, since the start of yesterday. The statement "Madden NFL 99 introduced Franchise mode" is also factually correct for this series.
Not saying they didn't touch CFM, but I also don't see this as confirmation of or even hinting towards anything. There's nothing to interpret when you put the tweet in context.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
I wouldn't expect anything less.
So far, he hasn't disappointed in what he has said what was going into the game. WR/DB, DPI, improved blocking, etc......
Up to this point, Rex has delivered on what he has said, there is no disputing that.
If people want to continue to doubt him and continuously ride me for that, no problem.
And how can one person under deliver when they said that CFM was a concern and needed improvement going forward? The only way that happens is when expectations are set way too high. For example, oh darn, setting hot dog prices didn't make it back into the game.Last edited by roadman; 05-10-2016, 09:12 AM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
A lot of people though don't like the WR/DB interactions and think the line play is still the weakness of the game. I like Rex and think he will continue to improve on everything he says needs improving. But to a lot of people, the improvements are just patches to a game that needs to be revamped completely. Just because Rex says things will get worked on doesn't mean the improvements will meet the high expectations that many hold to the Madden franchise. It's the only game we could play with NFL players and teams. So EA is going to either get all the praise or all the hate. When I stop hearing people complain about the areas of the game Rex said was a focus point. Then I'll start telling people to trust Rex.I wouldn't expect anything less.

As I said, the high expectations are on others. It should be shoot high, aim low, or you will continue to be disappointed and not just in the only NFL football video ball game in town.A lot of people though don't like the WR/DB interactions and think the line play is still the weakness of the game. As I also stated, that's fine if you don't wish to hop on the Rex train. I already climbed on it.
And people will always complain because it's the thing to do, nothing has changed in the last decade on that note.
That's all I'm saying on the matter.Comment

His resume is more than long enough. He's been there for 4 games and now 5 with 17 coming. And keep in mind that he was part of the transition from last gen to current. He certainly says all the right things and has garnered some people's trust and optimism for the future of the franchise, including mine. I also realize he's not a programmer, he doesn't animate, he doesn't code, so his impact has plenty of limits. That's why I'm saying I'm not all that swayed by what the public figures say. It's not even personal, I just realize there is more going on under the hood than what can be talked about on Twitter.Comment

For anyone still wondering why there will be no cover vote this year, the first year since 2009, a representative of EA was quoted as saying "With this election year upon us, we don't want you to lose sleep over another big decision," the rep said. "So, we decided to take the pressure off this year and hand-select someone for the job.".BoOm!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 17 Releases on August 23, Cover Athlete & Gameplay Trailer on May 12
Nah man. Just nah. We're talking basic fundamental football. That's not a "high expectation" that's a minimum expectation. As I said, the high expectations are on others. It should be shoot high, aim low, or you will continue to be disappointed and not just in the only NFL football video ball game in town.
As I also stated, that's fine if you don't wish to hop on the Rex train. I already climbed on it.
And people will always complain because it's the thing to do, nothing has changed in the last decade on that note.
That's all I'm saying on the matter.
People wanted the WR/DB stuff, they didn't want warping, sliding, bending, and all the other junk that came with it.
People wanted better line interactions, but they didn't want blockers completely ignoring obvious assignments right in front of them. This isn't a matter of gamers expectations, it's a matter of the game not meeting minimum standards. Besides, even if gamers had no expectations, what does that have to do with blockers who consistently fail to make basic blocking assignments, and WR/DB skating into position just to finish a pre-determined animation sequence? Wouldn't that still be a deficiency regardless of expectation? I would think so.
I just don't understand how speaking in facts is something that upsets people. If things worked properly and without all the shenanigans, the complaints wouldn't be there for said shenanigans. It's not like the visual evidence is made-up. It's being captured from the actual game.Comment
